Probably.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

Hmm- I hadn't heard of this one.
If the premise is what I think it is- it could actually be interesting.
Just from the title- "Training MacGyver"- what does that mean?
If the show were to be an actual Young MacGyver series- focusing not on MacGyver's son or non-existent nephew- but rather on Angus MacGyver himself! and focusing on his early days with his Army work/government work/DXS assignments - THAT could possibly be interesting...if done correctly.
(And of course, they could even do such a series ala The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles- with Richard Dean Anderson doing opening and closing bumpers for the episodes detailing his training days- perhaps even with future Phoenix Foundation recruits!) (But RDA won't be quite as old as George Hall ("Old" Indy) was ;-))
I was thinking about how in Young MacGyver Clay says he's been trained to get out of any situation.. so I was thinking maybe it's centered around Clay being trained....
although the idea that you can be "trained" to think liek that kinda erks me a bit..
to me that was just the way Mac was.. and that was a treat which showed through in SAM as well.. he just had "the gift"... so maybe training Clay wouldn't be such a good idea... But then the whole idea of Clay (the nephew) was a bad idea.

People can be trained to think rationally in stressful situations. For example, emergency responders such as firefighters and paramedics undergo extensive training and preparedness drills so that when they have to respond to an emergency, they can do so with efficiency.
In my corporate life, I am a training specialist. I work in a really high tech facility with some of the most hazardous chemicals ever manufactured. My job specifically is to teach other people how to handle these chemicals safely. Everyone who works at this facility undergoes a rigerous training and certification program before they are able to work independently.
Yes, some of the skills and talent MacGyver has is inherent snd comes from his own instinct and intuition. Alot of his knowledge and skills also come from an intensive training program.
Imagination is more important than knowledge. Albert Einstein
The stuff is already here, I just find a different way to use it. MacGyver
I was thinking specifically about his ability to come up with MacGyverisms.. those are purely from the way his mind works.
I'm not really convinced about his training.. in "Blood Brothers" we see a very young and calm MacGyver reacting rationally and coming up with a MacGyverism when his friend was shoot.
This underlines the whole idea that MacGyver was always that way.. even as a kid.

Yua are right Rock. Some people are very calm and rational during an emergency. Others tend to freak out and panic. When my husband had a blackout while we were driving this past summer, I didn't panic. I reached over and took the wheel and steered the truck into a field. I knew the truck would stall when the engine was starved for gas, all I had to do was keep it in a straight line and not hit anything. Every body I tell the story to gets kind of freaked out that I did that, but that is just the way I am. When I am in an emergency situation, I do what I need to do, calmly and rationally, to get myself out of trouble again.
My point is that he wouldn't know how to use chemistry and physics to his advantage without some kind of training in both of those disciplines. Having knowledge and having the rational foresight to apply that knowledge during an emergency is the intersection where intuition and training meet.
The new MacGyver show features a drag queen? Okaaaaaaaaaaay. This is one I'm going to have to think on.

I went to the official site to try to find out some more info on this supposed MacGyver show....
and it seems the services of a drag queen will be employed in this production!
Yeah I was actually curious enough to follow some links and figure this out last night...Um, yeah, a bit disturbing, I'd say.
Interestingly enough I could find no other references on the web to Training MacGyver other than his. You'd think if it wa actually in production there'd be something...so makes me think it's in the very very early stages.
Well, anyway...has anyone wondered if maybe this has nothing to do with OUR MacGyver at all? Sure the name's there, but that may be the only link. We can hope.
"It's amazing what one can do when one doesn't know what one can't do." Garfield the Cat
"Another day, a whole 'nother set of fresh possibilities. I'm a sucker for mornings." MacGyver
First, the interviewer got it wrong in the transcript and hasn't corrected it. The show is not called "Training MacGyver." The correct title is "TRANNY McGUYVER."
...and Rockatteer...I take offense when you say nothing I do is PG. I'm on network tv a lot and you don't get there by being foul and filthy.
you can see the 2 minute teaser for the show here:

Back in 2006 they thought about makeing a new tv show becalled Training MacGyver.
Training MacGyver. That's the name. It's evidently a TV pilot in development. I have no other details. It was an off-hand reference in an interview with an actor/actress from Nip/Tuck.
Here's the quote:
Right now, I am headed to the studio to record some ADR for a pilot called Training MacGyver. It’s my first series that I’m a big lead in. If anyone has info, send it my way.
BTW, if anyone isn't familiar with the process of TV pilots, here's the deal. In January, basically studios fund the production of bunch of test shows (pilots) to see if any of them have merit. Most don't. This one will probably not either.
But, I suddenly have a good idea: wouldn't it be cool to see a reality show where contestants had to escape different situations using their wits and everyday items?

Holy Crap! That looks terrible! It's the perfect example of "bad television that rots your brain". I doubt it'll be picked up but in todays world who knows.

You know what would make a great tv series the Adventures of Jack Dalton staring Bruce McGill, with occasional guest star RDA as MacGyver. What do you all think?

The aliens from HULU must have turned someone's brain to mush before the inhabited the tv world.
I was thinking the same thing:)
