I think they are a scream!
LOLOLOL
But I don't watch SNL so didn't see them last night.
But when asked in a papparazi vid about MacGruber, RDA said he loved the skit, and that he'd been asked to do one, but it was on too short of a notice.

NBC (SNL's network) is carrying the Superbowl tonight, so I bet these were made for that. But the commercials are such a big part of the event, that I'm noticing a lot of companies are previewing them this year!
I wonder if RDA got to keept he wig? But it wasn't quite right - when his hair was that length, it was blonder LOL

There are two sets, and I noticed that one without the # sign is the set Astra linked too, and the 'opening credits' have generic scenes, but the other set has actual MacGyver scenes in the 'opening credits'!
Guess one country had the rights while another didn't.

You are right!
The only reason I used the other links was that today in the morning of the # ones only 1 and 3 were up, but 2 was missing, and I wanted a complete set. Never thought of checking it!
I just watched and compared the opening sequence frame by frame - the "copy" is put together very well, though! It has exactly the same scenes. Somebody put very much work into this.
PS: That song is indeed a catchy tone. Could please somebody write me down the exact lyrics of the three lines so that I don't have to sing only "Pepsi Pepsi Pepsi"? I can understand most of it, but not everything.

I mentioned this on the RDA forum as well, but I hope that these aren't aired during the Super Bowl, because they aren't the best of what he can do. If they wanted to do something for the Super Bowl, they could have done another commercial like what he did back in 2006, which still wasn't perfect, but it was better than this. I hope that all the Pepsi stuff was just a shot at ridiculous product placement, nothing more. And yes, he still looks heavy, but I think he will lose that weight for the next Stargate movie, since it involves him more than the previous movie did.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."
Gee RDA really doesn't look the part any more does he.
No, he looks like Jack O'Neill with a wig.
Thank you, Loth!
I like the "Good!" - "Good!" from the first one, and in the second one the pose where he stands with his arms on the door. This is a very familiar pose I'd say.
What annoys me is the wiggling camera. It is hurting the eyes with frequent watching.

Yes... a wig looks like a wig. And I'm pretty sure it was supposed to look 'bad', for humor.

Bingo! I fangiggled a little when I saw that pose, too!

They're not real commercials. They're SNL skits. They do them every several episodes.
SNL makes fun of everything, and commercials/product placement is part of everything.
They have fake commercials all throughout the show.
These skits were a combination of their year-or-so running MacGruber skits and taking shots at commericals/Pepsi/product placement (most likely because of the Super Bowl).
As for RDA making fun of MacGyver, all I can say is good for him. In fact, my hubby said that to me last night when we were watching these, and I agreed.
You can't take things like that too seriously.
RDA knows that he will be forever known for playing a very, um, let's say 'over the top' character on an very eighties television show. May as well have fun with that.
SNL's been making fun of it for months, so why not join in?
As much as I love Stargate, I'd poke fun at it any day. (I loved the 200th episode, where they did just that for the whole episode.)
"Now, come on, Pete! Look at me! I'm a hurtin' guy! I'm beat up! I need a month's worth of sleep! And I need a haircut!" MacGyver, 'Serenity'

It's kinda disappointing (to me anyway) that the only interest RDA seems to have in MacGyver anymore, is to make fun o f it.
Not necessarily. When I asked him about MacGyver at Gatecon, RDA said he was proud of the work he'd done. He had his doubts about the viability of the premise in the current technological environment. (I think a good script could easily address that.)
As far as what's gotten onto the screen -- at the moment, the series is still doing well in syndication and DVD sales; and the character is familiar enough that parodies are still instantly recognisable, 30 years later -- which is extremely impressive! If a movie project ever gets anywhere, it will be partly because of that level of familiarity.
And RDA makes fun of everything he's ever done, except his work on the environment. It's his sense of humour. If he didn't make fun of MacGyver, that would be a sign that he didn't care about it anymore.
I'd far rather see RDA participate in MacGyver parodies than have the character be forgotten -- or, much worse, have him go through the kind of rejection of his past work that Leonard Nimoy displayed in his "I am Not Spock" days (happily now history).

Watching the Superbowl, and they showed the second MacGruber ad a few minutes ago. Don't know if they showed the first one, since I didn't see all the pre-game show.
But I didn't notice which 'opening' they used - the real or the fake.

I just finished watching the Super Bowl, and saw the Pepsi MacGruber ad!! Freaking HILARIOUS!! They used the fake intro.
I have not seen these bits on SNL, but I immediately recognized what they were doing, and cracked up! I laughed even harder when RDA himself showed up in it. Much better than the MasterCard ad last time around... that one was such an inside joke that the point of it was almost lost.

I didn't realize that was RDA when I saw the ad (during the Superbowl), I was just stunned at how incredibly unfunny/stupid it was. The Mastercard ad was much better. It was a bit more subtle, and less irritating. This Pepsi ad was just way too loud and in-your-face that it got annoying.

Yeah I can see how, unless you had followed the MacGruber skits or saw the previous one, that particular one just wouldn't be funny to many people. It's almost an "in" joke.
