I like that we can post things going on ---even when it is not good.

That got me thinking.

1. My brother underwent a biopsy on Wednesday because he found a lump on his lymph node region in his neck and the results came back hat he had cancer. The doctor found cancer only there and removed it but man what a week.

2. My husband's job ended for the summer and we have bills to pay. I need to find summer work, pay the bills, get my app done for my job in the fall (which costs about $80--I am applying with the Regional Board of Education to be a sub teacher) and finish my app for graduate school. I need to find a quick way to earn money (man do I sound like Jack Dalton?). My husband had applies for every local job that there is and now he is helping a friend at a Christian camp for the week. I have gotten a lot done. I did housework until 11pm last night and was up at 5:30 am.

Anyone rich out there? (just kidding biggrin.gif ) Anywhoo---that's all.

Yeah since I wrote this note this morning, I spoke to my brother and he sounds awesome. He goes back to the doctor on Thursady to get the staples out of his neck and learn whether he needs radiation and chemo, for they found a little spot on one of his lungs. He has an incredible group of doctors and a loving and supportive wife, who lost her dad the same week my brother was diagnosed. He is in good spirits and is amazed and humbled and awed by all of the love and support from our family and friends--my mom, husband and I have had hundreds of people praying since this all happened. Amazing!!!

I am getting my job for the fall lined up and working on my graduate school app, working on finding summer work. I have a meeting/interview on Wednesday. I had to get a babysitter for my kids. Friends are wonderful. I have been working my tail off organizing and cleaning my house.

My husband and kids and I are in good health and happy and we have a lot to be thankful, but thank you for letting me share with you.

Sorry to know things are not going as well as you wish but luckily you have the most lovingly and caring families and friends around you.

We all encounter ups and lows, and I think it's very important to be able to speak out. Although I haven't met any one of you here in MOL but I always feel close with you all. It's nice to know there is someone out there who cares about how I am doing and gives me support whenever I need, just like all of you here in MOL.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Liz, and your trust in us. May the sun shines on you and brings you hope!

Everybody has ups and downs, Liz. We all prefers long ups instead of long downs. I just had a long down myself recently. Concerning illness, a form of depression and having no work at work. Guess the crisis has something to do with that. At least that's our guessing. I hope the summer sales are bringing a change in that. It did leave me a bit depressed, though. But since no massive problems or difficulties has occured, I blame that depression mostly on the boredom at work. And if you work ten hours a day with nothing to do at all, it can really be boring.

Boredom and the sometimes awful Belgian weather. That's even more strange, that the weather began influencing my moods. Good weather, bad weather, sun and rain, I don't care usually and I still don't but the fact that it began influencing my moods is pretty strange. I've been trying to locate reasons for me being down but the only thing I can come up with is the fact of having no work at work. But I feel better now, though.

Usually I go help out somewhere else in the store than, though they don't always have something to do for me. Since a couple of days I have a better feeling again about things, because all I can do is wait till the start of the summer sales.

Now on your story.
I'm glad your brother is alright. The death statistics on cancer has rocketed skyhigh. Something I noticed since my aunt died of it little over a year and half ago.

Just a little piece of advice: if it runs in the family go and have yourself checked out! The sooner they find out the sooner they can get you treated. Couple of weeks back my grandmother had to be taken in at the hospital because she was coughing up blood. We feared cancer but the doctors didn't find anything but she does have the cancer gene. Though she never got the decease. Than her son and youngest daughter (my aunt) died of cancer. My uncle died when he was 18 and had cancer since he was 13 and my aunt died when she was 40. I never knew my uncle but at the age in the late seventies, I didn't think he should try smoking or drinking or anything. My aunt never smoked or used alcohol, worked half time to take care of her kids, always very healthy and she dies of that decease. My mother has been smoking for twenty-five years and she never got any complaints.

Than my mother went to check herself out, she's got the gene too and she had to do all sorts of tests. Don't know anything about the results though, but she said I had to go and check myself out as well. And that's what I need to do, if I ever get the phone number of that doctor. Just take a bloodsample and wait down the results. If I have it too, I have to go and have a check up every year of my life or maybe every two years in the beginning. I'm only 22 you know (and don't intend on dying young).

It's a deadly decease, look at what it's doing to Patrick Swayze! Deadly but cureable. So have you guys checked out in time!

But if a change has occured in your situation Liz, hang in there and go for it. The sun might be around the next bend.

No, I meant that you can heal from it if chemo works.

Well tomorrow my brother get his staples out. He has a scar from his adam's apple to his ear. He will learn whether they will do radiation or chemo or both. I'll keep you posted.

My heart goes out to you! I'll keep you in my prayers. It's hard for me this year, because both my sister and mother passed away this January. Today was their memorial service. I have comfort knowing they're with Jesus and all healed.
