In a surprise announcement today, director Ron Howard revealed the official name of the untitled Han Solo film: Solo: A Star Wars Story. The announcement came in a post in which the acclaimed filmmaker (with a little help from an anonymous Wookiee) thanked his cast and crew as principal photography wrapped.

Howard has documented his experience making Solo: A Star Wars Story on Twitter and Instagram throughout production — with everything from photos with cast members to teases of vehicle controls to shots of his morning coffee. Solo: A Star Wars Story, set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this yet... lol But Rogue One was pretty decent, and seeing the Millennial Falcon all shiny and new would be cool.

But, but... its not Harrison Ford...... *cries*

I mean, I get it... it's an origins story, so it would be impossible for Harrison Ford to fill the role. They'll need young blood for future installments. However... ehhhh... ...it's not Harrison Ford....

I haven't seen it yet, but that is surprising... especially over a holiday weekend like Memorial Day. My sister and I are planning to see it in a couple of weeks... hopefully. lol

'Star Wars' Spinoffs Suspended After Tepid 'Solo' Box Office: Report

The "Star Wars" galaxy just shrank.

Lucasfilm has put plans "on hold" for more spinoff films like "Solo: A Star Wars Story", Collider reported on Wednesday.

Citing "sources with knowledge of the situation", the entertainment news site said the franchise will laser in on "Star Wars: Episode IX" and the next trilogy that springs from the original core of movies.

That means reported plans for Obi-Wan and Boba Fett movies are apparently cosmic dust for now, according to Collider.

The "Star Wars" trend of its films making money hand-over-fist came to a somewhat crashing end with the release of "Solo: A Star Wars Story".

The spinoff had a disappointing three-day opening weekend total of $84.4-million (~R1.16-billion), and suffered a 65 percent plummet in box office the following weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. The film came in fourth in the latest ticket-sales list, and has made $196-million (~R2.69-billion) domestically and $147-million (R2.02-billion) internationally as of June 19.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" raked in a relatively healthy $155-million (~R2.13-billion) on its opening weekend when it premiered in December 2016, and has earned more than $1-billion (~R13.75-billion) worldwide.

That doesn't surprise me really. I wasn't all that impressed with either Solo or Last Jedi. They were okay, but there were a lot of things I didn't like about either.

I felt Rogue One was the better spin off.

I'm glad they shelved Obi-Wan and Boba Fett, because I probably won't go see either. That's bad considering I was a BIG Obi-Wan fangirl during the prequels.
