I've "iconified" about 60 of them so far, and the icon gallery is located here. You can certainly use them as long as you retain the source credit -- that's what they're there for! (In addition to sharing the laughter, of course.) They are in the same order as their original appearance on LOLMac; you may have to page through the gallery to find the one you want.

To use them as avatars, you'll have to download them from the LJ gallery and them upload them into your own profile via the control panel.

Yes, Doll, LOLFreud has already been made into an icon. I think it's on page 2.

If anyone have a favour that isn't in the icon gallery, I do ask that you ask me for it in icon form rather than trying to take the original LOLMac and squish it down to 100x100. They look like hell when they're run through that kind of rough compression -- it makes the text very ragged.

With the icons all hosted on LJ, Rocky doesn't have to eat up his own bandwidth -- the images are small, but there are a lot of them, and they add up. But if he wants to make use of any of them, or incorporate any of it into MOL here, he knows where to find me. (Yikes!)

That's fancy talk for "remember and acknowledge where you got it". Lothi usually includes it in her sig line. On her LJ (where she has a slew of my icons), she has it in a note on each one on her userpics page -- not just my icons, but also Grooni's and several others.

Whoops, sorry about the delay -- I missed this post before now.

The silly English is a dialect called LOLSpeak. It originated with the website icanhascheezburger.com, aka LOLCats; the first images were of cats. The original joke was that the cats themselves were captioning the pictures, and who ever said that cats had good spelling and grammar?

The LOLMacs are my own doing. At the time, I had seen some Stargate LOLs, buut . . . well, let's just say they mostly used just one joke, and it wasn't anything you could share with your kids.

I started with a screen capture from "Split Decision", which became the very first LOLMac. One of the longer-running jokes on LOLCats is attempting to identify which invisible objects are in any given picture. So the very first LOLMac caption was "invisible bomb usez power of imaginashun", which pretty much sums up the whole idea.

I started using LiveJournal as a posting forum because, well, it's a really, really cheap easy-to-use venue in which to post a whole lot of photo images. I post a new one every day on LJ, and I post an update on this forum every few weeks, with links to all the new ones. And once in a while, the MOL folks get a sneak preview of a LOLMac that I haven't yet posted at all.

Actually, the whole idea is a ridiculous excuse for me to mess around with screen captures of RDA. This has a very positive effect on my mental health.

There is no actual site called icanhastofu.com. That's part of the joke.

I didn't have any opportunity -- my closest contact with him was asking a question from the audience. I had neither a photo session nor an autograph session. And one item in our volunteer briefing was the information that "Mr. Anderson will not be accepting any gifts," which scuppered my hopes of giving him one of the LOLMacs we'd printed out and laminated.

However, I found out on the last day that, at some point during the weekend, Rick did see one (or more) of the LOLMacs. We must have given away at least 35 or 40 or the little pin-sized ones, as well as the "trading card" size; so my guess is that he saw one of the pins. From what I was told, he was a little confused by them, not being familiar with the LOLCats site, but not upset or distressed.

I spoke briefly about it to one of the Legends people, and she didn't seem upset either. (One thing I wanted to let them know is that the jokes are held to a more or less kid-safe level -- there are LOLs out there that very definitely are not.)
