sharks don't like the taste of human meat. humans are not normally on their menu.
most sharks prefer to eat certain types of invertebrates, fish and other animals like seals.

I don't think sharks actually have taste buds, or care what they're eating do they?

They just eat whatevers easiest and most abundant, which is one of the explanations for why there where so many shark attacks in Aussie and New Zealand this summer... less natural food because of over fishing, so they moved in closer to land where there was plenty of food surfing around in the waves.

Sharks are mindless eating machines as it was stated in the Jaws trailers. Besides they're attracted by blood or anything that moves.

Um... You don't actually believe what you hear in a movie do you?

I heard the same sentiment from a swamp tour guide in Southern Louisiana in regard to alligators. The alligators may not prefer my taste, but I think they'd eat me just the same.

I'm highly skeptical that either sharks or alligators have a "taste" for anything actually. They are predictors; Their menu is instinctive and environmental not taste driven.

Mouths open, mouths closes. That's how it goes. I don't think, they're thinking about what to eat today.
