It seems that as MGM studios fight to stay our of bankruptcy court they owe Richard Dean Anderson $1.2 million for his SG:1 contract.

Interesting that they they also mention MGM's claim that SG:1 was the longest running Science fiction show in US history. I thought Star Trek:TOS was.. hmm.bmp

ST:TOS only ran for three years, Stargate SG-1 for ten... and Smallville will probably knock that record out of the water by the end of its run. (Though I don't consider Smallville conventionial scifi--more like fantasy. )

I hope RDA gets his money... $1.2 mil is nothing to these people--why wouldn't they pay him at the end of his contract?

Oy...

I'm an occassional lurker these days. wink.gif

At least MGM is going forward with the Bond movies. (Daniel Craig is a GOOD Bond!) But still, they need to pay the man! RDA's attorney fees would eat up any $$$ he would get out of them, I would think.

Turtle's right. TOS is way down there, with only three seasons.

And from what I understand, Smallville has now passed SG-1. Everyone knew it was coming, but it's still a bit sad. It was nice to hold that crown over The X-Files for a while (though I'm a HUGE Phile, too). Of course, when you take the word "US" out of the title, Doctor Who slaughters everything, so...meh.

Of course, I suppose if one interpreted "longest-running" as been on the longest in syndication, TOS would be up there (though I suspect TNG might actually have it beat, as it's on somewhere every day still, and it's pushing 25 years old on its own...hm...).

Anyway... just thought I'd wave from lurker-land, too!

What!!??

When did Superhero fantasy get lumped into Sci-fi?

That's stupid! Who made that decision? I've got a special Xmas present for them. user posted image

Probably when "they" started showing wrestling (and horror, reality programming, yadda yadda...) on the SciFi (SyFy= dry.gif ) Channel.

in truth Sci-Fi is probably a fairly accurate place to put most "reality" shows isn't it? laugh.gif

Ya I thought the move to show non-SyFy stuff made the channel just like most of the channels out there.
