His resume is as long as his arms, and he has roamed Hollywood studios across and through between his film and television appearances. James Karen, best known for his role as Mr. Teague in the horror film Poltergeist, has died at the age of 94. According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, he was found unconscious in his Los Angeles home. The causes of his death are not yet known.

James Karen had over 200 roles to his credit between movies and TV series. He gave the reply to Jane Fonda in The Chinese Syndrome in 1979. He has acted extensively in horror films like Frankenstein vs. the Space Monster (1965) or the best known, Return of the Living Dead (1985). In one of his last roles in the seventh art, he played a manager who engages the character of Will Smith in In Search of Happiness.
On television, James Karen played Elton Lawrence in the Dallas series. The American comedian also played for four seasons in Charles Takes Charge, not to mention his appearances in series like The Streets of San Francisco, Starsky and Hutch, West Coast, Little House on the Prairie, Magnum or more recently Walker Texas. Ranger, Jag and Cold Case.

In his private life, James Karen was married to singer Susan Reed, the mother of his only son, in the late 1950s before divorcing in 1967. The actor remarried actress Alba Francesca in 1986. The couple attended a fundraiser in 2016. One of James Karen's last public appearances.

He died on October 23, 2018 at the age of 94.

He participates in MacGyver in season 4, he plays the role of Butterfly for the episode "Fraternity Of Thieves".
