I'm a little on the fence about the opening. So Russ gets yelled at by the entire team for questioning Matty, yet they instantly turned on Thornton when she turned out to be bad? Unless they checked all their sources for Thornton first, and Russ didn't wait for them to do the same with Matty.
So, I'm pretty sure the tree falling in the climax was a subtle nod to The Golden Triangle?
Nice ending though. I want to say it's Patricia Thornton, but chances are it's another new baddie. Possibly Mac's Aunt?

Not my favorite episode. I realize we need to know some of Russ's background, but the others did very little. They just followed Russ around. 40 minutes in the hour before a second Mac hack. I suppose we also need Mac to talk about right and wrong, and see things with shades of grey; a good way for him to approach his father and comprehend the tough choices.
I believe Matty called James at the end. The 'she' in my opinion, is Mac's aunt Gwendolyn.

It wasn't a bad episode, and I think Russ fit in quicker and better than all his regular predecessors, but the episode didn't really resonate with me. It's maiinly a re-do of Episode 1x02 (with Jack's ex Sarah)... only a bit darker.

A little Russ-centric (this is MacGyver after-all), but I enjoyed the second half of the episode once it picked up. Got a few "The Golden Triangle" vibes from it with the fallen tree and the poor village populace being under the thumb of a powerful "fashion plate" (although Anton was probably more Truang than Narai...lol).
I appreciated the one Moldovan woman's "what is the blonde one saying?" as it's not likely everyone in a poor Moldovan village would have English fluency (to say nothing of one in SE Asia...see above referenced OG episode).
As far as the end, I'm pretty sure BabyEinstein's theory is correct about the call...although I do like the idea of a dissociative disorder instead.
Hi everybody...I have been following you for a while...thanks for the huge work you do to keep us updated.
I am really enjoying this season and I can't wait to see where the story arc will bring us. Great writing and great acting. I sometimes feel awkward, and I came to think that the awkwardness is intended...somebody commented that the team was too much on the periphery on last episode..well I might be wrong, but that is what they are: Russ is all over the place, using them like tools because he bought them (and does not miss any chance to point this out)...on the other hand, they -especially Mac- seem unable or ready to react, yet. Even Lucas's s acting in the last couple of episodes was so (beautifully) downplayed. He always does his thing of course, but he never stands out...like he was withdrowing a bit...Everything is slowly pointing to what is coming...like he has a lot going on in his head, half of which we haven't seen, yet.
Also, somebody is about to lose his innocence...I like this so much. I was a huge fan of the OG, but one thing I did not like about the OG was that he was sooo perfect, always in the right, always did the right thing, said the right thing...now, this...I like where this is going.

Hey there and welcome!
I think the premise of the story-arc is interesting. It's just that the writers have shown us in the last seasons that they're never able to realize the show's full potential... I'm already expecting to be disappointed

They gained in demo AND in audience which is good!
I'm actually quite curious to watch the TV ratings going forward with most people more or less confined to their humble abodes for the foreseeable future.

Me too.
Some predictions are that ratings should be soaring while others say they just won't fall as much as usually in Spring. Also, they might have to re-schedule a lot with many TV shows not being able to air their season finales in April/May because they couldn't finish production.

I enjoyed 4x06. I really love Russ. He is an intriguing character that adds more layers to the show if you ask me. He is not totally bad or good. Which is a good thing. He is also a character on a redemption arc and i dig it. The Mac&Russ scene on the plane was really good. Im loving the chemistry between the actors. I wished Jack was around too. I'm sure Russ and Jack scenes would be a delight to watch. I was a big Desmond fan back in the Lost days as well. Henry is a great actor so im really happy that he's in MacGyver now.
The only thing i didn't enjoy about the episode was the whole 'Mac and Desi are avoiding talking about their feelings' stuff. I wished the writers could have dropped this forced romance plot but it looks like this season we'll have to sit through a lot of Macdesi scenes.

Hi there and welcome
I wouldn't mind MacDesi that much if their relationship was something we had actually seen develop over time; getting invested and rooting for them to make it. At the moment, the talk about the relationship they skipped completely takes up more screentime than the few scenes they had together that looked like there actually might be some spark and interest in each other. So for me, it's just pointless.

Yeah, MacDesi is really annoying

This episode was a lot better than the last one. I really like Russ. A good guy with a shady side which doesn't make him entirely trustworthy but you know he's not a bad guy and what he may appear to be lacking in trust he makes up with his charm.
I don't see the link to the Golden Triangle right away though but that's probably me.
The beginning was a great and strong start but indeed, they seemed to defend Matty where Patricia Thornton got dumped from the start. That that would actually be Patricia who we saw is not a bad thought. I always felt Patricia was not handled greatly. Patricia being a traitor was much too sudden. Things finally got going in season 1 and halfway they just decide to change things and bring in Matty... that was so illogical.
Also what I read here that she might have an dissociative disorder is an interesting angle. But than we're back at an old pain of mine. If Matty actually was in Milan at the time... I know fiction and all that but travel goes waaaay to fast and it happens all the time. They're in L.A. and they arrive at their destination in Europe on the exact same day.

Not always. Though it may have happened only once. In The Treasure Of Manco he doubted his friend Enrique. He never really accused him but he had doubts while he should've believed him and than he does the one thing a lot of people can't or won't do. Admitting he was wrong about it and apologizing.

Well done. I always missed my milestones because I keep forgetting to keep in mind to check the numbers
I'm assuming Sandrine Holt only had a 13 episode contract and when they realized they got a back-order but she won't stay on the show, they quickly invented some "great" plot twist to write her out within an episode. Or it was Lenkov's idea all allong because he did pretty much the same with the Season 1 Finale for Hawaii Five 0.
Generally, I always felt they should have given her another name and make Matty the new Thornton. Easter Eggs are nice, but why make the one character having the last name of the secondary lead on the OG show a traitor? Such a missed opportunity.
