As reported by multiple sources, MacGyver stunt coordinator, Justin Sundquist, was seriously injured while filming a stunt on Monday.

Sources quoted indicate that he was performing a stunt which involved transferring from one vehicle to another when he sustained a severe head injury which required him to be put into a medically induced coma. Reports out of the hospital on Thursday were that he is improving but remains unconscious.

This accident comes a year after Sundquist sued CBS for another injury on the set of Hawaii-Five-0, where he was hit by a car during a stunt. Deadline reports that the resulting law suit was settled out of court with part of the agreement being that he became stunt-coordinator on MacGyver this season.

Wow, this is like the second time in only a few weeks maybe months time I hear about a set accident. Damon Wayans got hurt on the set of Lethal Weapon and now this. Though there's maybe no need to speculate or to point fingers, I wish that guy well. Even for stuntmen there is danger involved while doing a stunt but if this is the second time in one year for the same guy, I wouldn't be surprised that CBS might have to cough it up for him.

I know stunt men take a lot of risks for cool stunts, but you'd think there would be safety precautions, right?

I remember when Corin Nemec got his leg crushed some years ago while on set for a movie he was in. It took two blood transfusions to save his life... and he was just an actor, not a stunt person.

Ya wish people would be more careful. =P

I certainly hope he makes a full recovery. I understand he got this job as part of the lawsuit deal. He isn't a novice so just shows accidents happen even when you are overly cautious. My prayers are with him.

The issue will be around whether CBS allowed all the required precautions to be carried out or if they are taking shortcuts to save money.

Justin's lawsuit indicated that he accident last year was due to CBS turning a blind eye to safety issues. So if that is found again it could have serious consequences.

Let's hope it was just a mishap and Justin recovers fully.

Also as Stunt coordinator he shouldn't have been doing nay stunts anyway so that will be part of the investigation I would think also... why he was doing the stunt himself.

If the stunt requiered a jump from one vehicle to another, it could be anything. A mishap or miscalculation on his own behalf, but it might as well have been the fault of the guys who rigged everything. A cable that gave in when it shouldn't. I think jump stunts are done all the time and that should be something that shouldn't go wrong but never say never. Look at what happened to Cruise for Mission 6 and he was lucky he only broke his ankle. Even the simplest thing might go wrong and have serious consequences. I hope for CBS's sake and the stuntman that it was just an unfortunate accident. I just can't believe the set accidents I've heard about this year.

All the news articles are saying is that it was a transfer. But I would say any kind of accident that involves 2 moving vehicles and a head injury bad enough to require an induced coma is going to be very unpleasant.

Regardless of the whos or whys of the accident this is a guy who is a son, a husband and a father who was just doing his job the best way he could under whatever circumstances he was working in and I think the cast and crew are doing the right thing in keeping quiet about it right now and letting the investigation run it's coarse and allow Justin and family to have their privacy.

I read that he's now out of the coma, but still in bad condition.

out of the ICU and the coma, but we don't know anything about potential long-lasting disabilities. let's hope he can recover in full capacity.
