See, I really like it too. I think NCIS LA was the worst one. But I am disappointed that CBS has really shoved this show aside. It does not bode well for any future support. And the people commenting were really bashing CBS for not taking the time or effort to work much with the show's promotion, as everyone on here has pointed out. Someone on there even said it was like CBS was trying to sabotage the show. I so hope that is not the case. I was hoping there would be a preview during the new Magnum PI last night, but if there was I missed it. There was one for Blue Bloods and the plethora of NCIS.

You will see her a little bit more. Leanna and Bozer are now officially a couple and everybody knows. So you’ll get to see her a little bit more, and more of them together on screen and also behind the scenes of me getting on Justin Hires’ nerves. (laughs)

About Hell Fest, we are fans of the horror genre so we are excited to see this. Did you grow up with an appreciation of horror as well?
Nope! I was scared! (laughs) I did not get into even going to haunted attractions until last year. My best friend, Tristin Mays [Riley Davis] from MacGyver, she tricked me into it last year. We went to Netherworld and it was actually a month before I got the audition for Hell Fest. And I actually fell in love with it because it’s not as scary when you go with a big group of people. It’s actually more fun because you’re laughing at everybody getting scared. So that’s were my appreciation came for the haunted attraction. But in terms of the movies, I’m working on it. I can now see a thriller without jumping like a lunatic in my seat. We’re going to see how it goes with Hell Fest. I feel like hopefully I won’t look too crazy in the theater because I know what’s going to happen. But I still haven’t seen it all the way together, so I might be jumping around in my seat still.

I like the poster, too - it's just too photoshopped IMO. Both are very good-looking guys; no reason to airbrush them into oblivion.

CBS was never good at doing good advertizing, sadly. And they sometimes miss the mark completely. Look how much money they pumped into Magnum promo. And yet the ratings weren't all that good for the pilot, despite the huge promo, the famous brand and following the exact same formula as H50 and MacGyver.

H50 has always been one of the neglected Friday shows when it comes to promo (though it does get better promo and they already have Sneak Peeks out since yesterday). Yet it keeps delivering steady ratings. I guess as long as they keep investing in good scripts, directors and likeable characters played by actors with at least some skills, that's more important then nice-looking posters.

Has anyone seen a single MacGyver promo on CBS? I am so aggravated. How are people supposed to know it's on?

I saw a couple last week during ad breaks. The cast and crew are hamming it up a bit this week along with CBS on social media... but I think it's too little too late to have any real impact.







I have to say Bozer's beard looks fake as hell.

There have been a few from what I gathered on social media, but they started pretty late.

In general, Friday nights are often neglected by CBS when it comes to promo. On the other hand, the Friday line-up proved to be pretty steady in recent years.

But competition is bigger this year; especially for MacGyver since "Last Man Standing" premieres on FOX at 8pm as well. In 2016, LMS lost some viewers when MacGvver premiered. Over time, some watchers flocked back; getting LMS to steadily increase its ratings while MacGyvers ratings were dropping a bit.

I'll say the people who've been watching Friday Nights on CBS for years will tune in anyway. But some more promo might have helped to attract new viewers *sigh*

My prediction is that MacGyver will suffer a bit because of LSM; but might increase ratings again over time. It always gained towards mid-season. Most shows start the new season with the same ratings they ended the last one. They were pretty bad overall in May for all 3 Friday shows, so I hope it starts a bit stronger than it ended; but I doubt it will be a ratings surprise.

That ET snippet is so exciting! As for LMS I've never heard such an arrogant guy like Tim Allen. Just from the few promos I've seen. I know he believes ABC let him go because of politics. Anyways I hope MacGyver does great tonight. I'll be doing my part!

Speaking of LMS, I'm actually pretty worried about ratings this season Quite a few people on Twitter have said that if they must choose, LMS will win every time. Then again, who knows? Somehow H-50 is still going, so...

Anyway, I recently read that this season is supposed to have a crossover with both H-50 and Magnum PI.

LMS is trending US-wide.

On the other hand, last year it was "Blindspot" trending every Friday and they never had better ratings than the Reboot. Guess we'll see.

I really dislike CBS and how they are treating MacGyver. I watched all day Sunday starting with football, yesterday, and now. They ran ads for every night and every show EXCEPT MacGyver and Hawaii 50. Blue Bloods got mentions just not the other two. Can someone explain this to me? I contacted them but of course they don't respond. I am swearing off CBS except for MacGyver. How disrespectful of the fans.

Well, I can't really explain it. Generally, H50 fans have been complaining about this for years and I understand now, why.
I guess most networks don't care about Friday as much since it's been the so-called "death-slot" for years. CBS struck gold when they moved H50 there with BB. The ratings have been exceptionally well for years and since 2016, the Reboot being put there even elevated the ratings for H50 and BB as a stronger lead-in than earlier shows at 8pm (e.g. Amazing Race).

The Friday line-up makes good ratings without much promo, so I guess they don't bother since they have a lot of other problems right now when it comes to ratings and scheduling. Fact is: MacGyver Episode 3x01 made 5.771 million live-viewers without them doing much of investement into promoting it. The expensive Magnum Pilot (I've read somewhere 8 million; not sure if that's true) got a helluva big and expensive promo-cycle. It premiered to below 9 millions live-viewers and with the second episode is now down to under 7.

The premiere's ratings were a bit low, but it was up against LSM and got no promo - and still almost got 6 million viewers. It had 7.7 millions in S1 and 6.7 millions in S2 per average. So indeed, why bother. It gets good enough ratings so far without any promo investment... and they can sell it for syndication and for international markets without promo because its famous name is the biggest promo asset there is. Heck, they didn't even have a finished pilot to show (just a 20 minute cut of the Unaired Pilot) and yet it was still one of the best sold shows at the international market of the Upfronts back in 2016.

So in positive way, it's neglected because it does good enough without help. On the other side, the ratings will keep dropping because without promo, they don't attract a new audience that is curious to check it out, even if it's already in its 3rd season. And if the ratings are low, they will just axe it after Season 4 when they secured that syndication deal. There will be no reason for CBS to renew it for a 5th season and their statement will say that the ratings were too low...

I have another answer for you: Ad value for Friday is below average.

MacGyver and its Friday companions has always been below average; even BB or LSM dosn't get much ad value. So Friday just isn't really worth it for the networks to being advertized that much. They prefer putting that money into the production of the shows instead of into their promo.

I copied the overview for the CBS shows. This year, it costs 67'000 USD to have a 30-seconds spot during an episode of MacGyver. For comparison: It was 72'000 in 2016 (for S1) and 76'000 in 2017 (for S2).

These answers all make sense but it is still disrespectful and why all the Blue Bloods promo. They could at least have those promos feed (under or in the corner) during an airing show like they do for everything else. Well they certainly don't care about my opinion.
