Hi. I'm new here and to be honest I joined because I am hoping to find out the best way to find the right buyer for 3 of the items that I was given over the 2 years I worked on MacGyver.
From 88-89 I was RDA's Stand-In on the show in Vancouver and during that time of course I accumulated some Cast/Crew memorabilia. The problem is that I don't just want to sell it to some Joe on Ebay. It really is important to me that it ends up with someone who REALLY was a fan of the show which is why I came here.
I hope that this doesn't contravene the rules, but I wanted to know where people here went to to shop for MacGyver items so that I can post them in the best place. I will be posting a Crew Jacket, Sweatshirt & Ballcap.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Here is a copy of one of my weekly contracts to confirm my identity.

Thanks Peter C.

Hi Peter! Welcome to MacGyver Online!

It certainly is a great honor to meet you and im sure you have many stories to tell.

Well, there are certainly many Mac fans here. Your memoribilia sound great and im sure there are many fans who would be delighted to buy these.

Yes, eBay is usually the place to go but there are various other ways to host these. Charity auctions also seem to fit the popular profile of MacGyver related stuff. And simply hosting these items to a great few on a website.

Im certain you will receive many more replies shortly from other users who might have some ideas for you.

I hope to see you again soon. Would LOVE to know so many things! How did you get the job? Did you get hurt, how did RDA feel about you as his guardian angel. biggrin.gif

Hi again, and thanks for the nice welcome. Just to clarify I wasn't his STUNT Double, just his STAND-IN. Steve Blalock was his stunt double while I was on the show and did a great job. I was hired to walk through RDA'S scenes and essentially help the Lighting Director & his crew prepare each setup for camera. I was about his height & weight & hair color and the idea was to use me to set up so that when he came on the set the lights & camera were ready to go.
Cheers!

Hi Peter.

It's always a great pleasure having people involved in the show joining us.

I think most people search ebay for their items. Occasionally we'll get someone post a link in here to a particular item they think might be of interest to us.

Depending on whether you're looking to make a profit or not, you could also look at selling it through the charity site RDA uses, which would send all profits to Sea Sheppard and you'd know it was going to a MacGyver/RDA fan.

Glad to have you with us. Hope you stay for a long time.

How very cool that you were able to be part of such a great show.

There are so many questions I want to ask you and while I'll refrain from hitting you with a ton of questions, allow me to ask this one, did you think it was a cool job or was it just another job for you? I know, from experience, some people in show biz don't make a big deal out of the jobs they do, while other geek out. huh.gif

Thanks for the info re. the gear. In answer to the last question I guess honestly it was just a job at first, I had worked on a few movies and another show called 'Beans Baxter', and then on 21 Jump Street. When I got the job on MacGyver it was great to get the work - Of course! smile.gif
The show was cool to work on though and as I got to know everyone and feel at home with the cast & crew I really did enjoy the experience. We did shoot in some interesting locations and for the most part everyone got along and often partied together as well as working. I was just getting into photography at the time, so it was also a great opportunity to try out different film types and shoot what was going on around the set. I particularly enjoyed watching our DOP Bill Gherity working as he liked really interesting and dramatic looking lighting, he had worked on Magnum PI for many years before working on our show.
Please forgive me if I don't respond promptly to questions, I am in the middle of moving from Chicago to Maui and things are CRAZY just now!
Cheers!
