Currently watching 9-1-1 from the creators of Nip/Tuck. It's a great and exciting show about the paramedics in general but I am missing a doctor here. There's one police officer, a team of fire fighters and the phone operator.

They don't seem to back down and tackle controversial and suspenseful topics, I expected more drama like Nip/Tuck. Each character has their own story and they're fleshed out pretty good. The show is pretty good so far.

Been watching Westworld this past week. It's pretty good and has a way of going into several directions without going over the top but in ways of: what's going on now? Until now it feels like a build-up. Of course always nice to see actors like Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden and Ed Harris.

Since I started watching it's making me feel like I want to play Red Dead Redemption again. It's pretty much a real-live RDR. You can do whatever you want in it.

This might be the ideal vacation for Mac, wouldn't you think? You can practically live in the old west without going back in time. Only if I remember the admission right, it was about 40K a day. That's a little over my budget.

Otherwise the first season is pretty good but I think it's still establishing it's foundations to go bigger and better. Hopefully I can see the movie one day.

Started on Baywatch now. They've been re-airing it here since the beginning of summer vacation and am now catching up on it. I had seen an episode every now and then during it's original run but never followed it weekly so this is all new to me.

Got to say, the first few episodes, it was clearly trying to find it's footing and it was done pretty light. Mitch is a reasonable fun loving guy and everyone seems to be having the same chemistry, I saw in the movie. It's like everyone is equal in the lifeguard no matter how you look. I've seen all ages in those first few episodes. Balding guys with mustaches, 30-something man and women, teenagers... Just as in the movie where you have these 20-something kids trying to hit on one of the women who are clearly out of their league, yet they don't make fun of that, they just treat each other normally, which is rarely seen. In fact, it makes me wanna sign up for being a lifeguard. That is until I saw the trainings of course but you gotta make some sacrifices right?

Anyway, the last few episodes makes it seem it's going into the right direction and they're getting a little more serious now. The episode with the storm is one of the best I've seen so far and I'm only halfway the season. Bad guys at the start were a little stereotypical maybe. Bad guys but not very smart.

Also a couple of familiar faces went by like a young Madchen Amick, William Fichtner and two Mac-actors. Wendie Malick (with long hair which makes her look like Teri Hatcher actually) plays Gayle, Mitch's ex-wife in a couple of episodes and James Sloyan appears in one episode as a con artist who loses his stolen money in front of the Baywatch beach. And crew members aren't strangers either as W. Reed Moran (Blow Out) wrote an episode which was directed by Rob Bowman (Ma Dalton) and one episode was directed by Bruce Seth Green (Flame's End).

Hehe. My godson (he's 12) started watching that, too recently.

They played the new movie at a kids' birthday party and he loved it and told his mom (my sister) all about it. And she told him she watched the TV show when she was young and he was like WHUT? And then she started DVRing the reruns on TV for him and now he watches it religiously. Along with Knight Rider, A-Team and MacGyver tongue.gif

But that's an R-rated movie. tongue.gif

Only when they started airing the Facebook page of the tv-station did however said they updated the songs to more modern ones. One moment that made me think for a moment, if it's not original I'm not interested but in the end I never knew the original songs so it doesn't matter and I still haven't heard a song that I know. Yet, still that is something you don't do, mess with the soundtrack. Still it was kinda weird to hear the real 80's on Mitch's party in the pilot episode and more modern songs in the montages.

Besides, is it me or does Eddie (Billy Warlock) look like a mix of Tom Cruise, Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez and Jeff Schultz (Kirby from Thin Ice) especially when he's upset?

Huh? The 2017 Baywatch movie with Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson is FSK12 in German-speaking regions. So basically PG13. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been allowed to watch it tongue.gif

My sister and I are introducing the kids to all good 80s and 90s stuff lately; e.g. the Back to the Future movies.

It's still R-rated according to allmovie. IMDB says it's for the age of 12, but in Europe we're a little more openminded. Got plenty of movies here that says for the age of 12 in Europe while sometimes they're clearly rated R. Or the other way around like Beowulf which was PG-13 in America but is for the age of 16 in Belgium which is rated R. Go figure.

Anyway if the movie was released here like 20-25 years ago, I would have seen it, no doubt.

Am now into season 2 of Baywatch. Interesting to see the disappearance of some characters without any explanation but I suppose that'll happen more often in a eleven season tv-show. The only ones remaining are Mitch, Shauni, Eddie, Capt. Thorpe and Garner with Hobie played by someone else. Hobie went from a twelve nearly thirteen-year old to a ten-year old. That's still six characters though with a couple of new ones.

After two weaker episodes, one guest starring Leslie Easterbrook (Police Academy) the last one I saw was one of the better ones and one that moved real close to MacGyver-territory. The episode was called Point of Attack, in which gangmembers harrass the sunbathers on the beach. After a fight on the beach the gangmembers are brought in at the Baywatch headquarters and are faced with jailtime when Mitch suggests Eddie to take them in the Water-program to give these kids a chance to do something they like, pretty much like the Challengers Club. From there on it's straight into Mac-territory. You either join up or go to jail. This episode also reveals that Eddie lives on a houseboat now. Interesting guest stars are: Richard Coca (Lobo) and Danny Trejo plays his father who rides red pick-up truck like Mac has. Hasselhoff's role is a little smaller in this episode but Billy Warlock really carries the episode.

This might actually be a great introduction episode if you know someone who likes MacGyver and looks for something alike. Though this is the first episode to handle troubled youths, I don't know if more episodes like this were made. Then again with 243 episodes, I suppose more episodes like this would most likely be made, even if it's just one episode per season or every other two seasons. Enjoy the clips below.

Nothing hilarious about this though. Just poor title choosing.

This is the third Mac-actor to make an appearance and I know Tim Rosseviche is set to appear in a soon to come episode too.

I think I saw the darkest episode (If looks could kill) so far in Baywatch last night. A woman responsible for her lover's death is followed by her business partner who attempts to kill her. After driving into the ocean, Mitch rescues her and falls in love with her, while Eddie has doubts about the woman, she finds protection with Mitch. This episode reminded me of The Negotiator, though a total different story, it's about a woman who gets her hands on the lead character.

Currently in season 3 of Baywatch and already more familiar faces has passed like Randolph Mantooth and Don Stroud (in the same episode) that was directed by Cliff Bole. The governor (not that governor tongue.gif ) was visiting the pier and Don Stroud being the villain of course intended to kill him by blowing up the pier, while Mantooth is the governors bodyguard yet he didn't see eye to eye with Mitch so much.

And there was also another episode written by John Whelpley (Ma Dalton amongs others) and starring Kristina Wayborn (Sara Ashford) who stole diamonds and hid them in a surfboard of one of the lifeguards. Also there seemed to be a nod to MacGyver's The Visitor episode on that. I could just hear him say it at the end of the episode: "You got a wonder."

So I found out season 2 of the new Carmen Sandiego came out, so I decided to give it a shot. I didn't really get into the first season until towards the end, so season 2 was a pleasant surprise. Seems they got the characters down, so they can be developed, and the fight scenes are more intense.

Unfortunately, unlike certain other shows(*coughMiraculousandVoltroncough*), I can't quite forget that this show is meant for kids, because we get about two minutes every episode where the characters drown the audience in geography facts for wherever in the world Carmen Sandiego is tongue.gif

On the flip side, we do get scenes like this...

*Agent Julia Argent gets promoted to help catch Carmen Sandiego*

Julia: *stares in the bathroom mirror trying to get rid of her insecurities and psych herself up for the task* *finally manages to increase her self-confidence and grins at her reflection* *turns and smashes her face in the doorway* *walks outside groaning in pain*

If that isn't the most relatable crap ever... laugh.gif

Watching all my recordings now.

I just finished War of the Worlds which was more character driven then special effects driven. Only 8 episodes in the first season. I hope the second season does better. Gabriel Byrne is great as always.

Also watching You're The Worst. I don't even know if this series is really popular or not. It's about a bunch of friends and their odd relationships. With exception of the two leading characters Jimmy and Gretchen, no one of these people should be in a relationship simply because they don't match. Most of them are not even likeable characters with their narcistic personalities. Jimmy is an Englishman living in Los Angeles who has these feminine traits while Gretchen is more like the man of the two. She's rude, got a big mouth and is clinically depressed. Neither of the two likes to admit they're in a relationship and that they actually love each other. Lindsay and Paul on the other hand is like the complete opposite. Lindsay is even the meanest of all characters, using and abusing people as she see fit including Paul who is so in love with her that he doesn't see she hates him so bad she even injures him on purpose, while he blames himself for it. Anyway, the show is pretty good and has a good if not a little dark sense of humour.

I also finished Married With Children, all eleven seasons were shown here. I guess I need to get into the Mac-reboot next and the Magnum-reboot for that matter too.

Also Baywatch will be continued next week from season 4 and there is also Anger Management. Charlie Sheen's other tv-series.

Though I didn't recognised him right away, on the last episode I've seen in You're The Worst, Time Winters name appeared on the end credits. I got to rewatch that scene.

I am now continuing with Baywatch and already new familiar faces including Mac-actors. For starters Wendie Malick returned as Mitch's ex-wife in the opening two-parter. But also Jim McMullan (Andrew Bartlett) made an appearance, though only in one scene in both parts. I think he took over the role as Matt's father from Dirk Benedict. Merely a cameo to be honest.

In another two-parter Kristian Alfonso guest starred in yet another villainous role, ironically she was called "Debra". I wonder why. She had that Deborah streak around her. This time helping her husband escape from prison but when he gets shot during the escape she takes Mitch hostage and forces him to operate her husband.

Also started on Anger Management. It's alright, maybe I'm not laughing as hard as I did with Two and a half Men but it gets me to laugh. Interesting to see Shawnee Smith, who plays the deranged Amanda in the Saw-movies in a totally different role as Charlie's ex-wife. While divorced they're still on good terms in contrast to Judith and Alan from Two and half Men.

Last night I've seen one of the nicest episodes so far on Baywatch. The Child Inside, it was pretty much our There But For The Grace counterpart.

An old friend of Mitch asks him and Stephanie to organize a special olympics for kids who are disabled or need special care. It was a very emotional driven episode as Mitch and Stephanie are asked to keep an eye of two kids. A girl with the syndrome of down and a somewhat retarded boy as they both have to teach them to believe in themselves and learning to do what's right even if it means losing a contest.

Also has a great video clip with the song.

And yet another great episode on Baywatch called Mirror Mirror. An episode strongly resembling Two Times Trouble. Mitch meets a young woman named Gwen, who is the total opposite of her sister Mattie. Mattie is an assertive, attractive, outspoken woman while Gwen is seemingly scared of everything and everyone. Yet Gwen is determined to find herself a man and goes out to the beach and meets Mitch but Mattie has plans of her own.

But Mitch seems to be having the same problem with women as Mac has. Gwen/Mattie was played by Carrie-Anne Moss. The first real big name I've seen so far.

Also the other episode I have seen called The Falcon Manifesto was a great episode. Another episode in which Mitch meets somebody and hopes to start a relationship with yet fate always decides otherwise.

These last two episodes was more what I'm looking for. Especially the Mitch-centric episodes and where he seems to be more alone dealing with heavy stuff.

Baywatch seemed to have their own version of Friends, Unfinished Business and Hind-Sight since there was a clipshow in the fourth season and a good one. Due to budget cuts, Baywatch may be forced to cutbacks so Mitch and his team can explain the city what Baywatch stands for by inviting city officials and former victims and have them explain how they were helped by the lifeguards.

This episode also featured Richard Coca (Lobo) again and refers to the episode he starred in earlier. Cliff Bole also directed a few other episodes, I've noticed.

I'm watching the Magnum P.I. Reboot. I've got to say it: it's much much much better then the Mac Reboot to be honest. Sticking mostly to one storyline per episode and we're back to the weekly case instead of a major storyline. It's like they're doing this right from the start. OK, so, yes, Higgins is a woman and Mac too and there are a couple of new characters like Katsumoto and befriended woman coroner with which he a similar relationship as the orginal Magnum and Mac had meaning, he needs to bribe her to get things done. But in all the series is much better then I expected also without comparison to the Mac-reboot. I'd say they finally did something right. Not just some irritating boss saying: "blondie" or "hurry up" in their comms or unnecessary characters like Leanna and Bozer who are more in the way then actually being helpful or with three storylines squeezed in 45 minutes. And it's quite obvious Magnum and Juliet are supposed to be a thing. 16 episodes in and the original Magnum would've had like ten girls already. This one, zip. Despite a clear interest in one of his clients and an ex-girlfriend out to stir up his past.

Couple of nice names passing the venue: Justin Lin directed the first episode and serves as executive producer. Sung Kang played Lt. Tanaka but only in the first episode. If he could've been a regular it would've greatly improved and boosted his career. Also Jordana Brewster appeared in an episode (one of the best so far) and I don't think we've seen the last of her yet. An one of the most interesting actors I've seen though a little bit of a small part was Carl Weathers.

It was also nice to see something on sunken gold, like one of the fanfics I wrote: Lost Gold In The Ocean. But like I said, it really isn't a bad show at all. Could've been a lot worse.

Woohoo, 7600.

Actually have watched a bunch of shows lately.

Finished up Castlevania Season 4 over the weekend. I also watched Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor, both are very good... but depressing. I also got caught up on Saiki K and Saiki K Reawaken (which is such a great anime!). I also started watching another anime called The Way of the Househusband. I also caught up on Stranger Things and Bridgerton.

Mostly Netflix stuff since that is where all the good stuff has been at lately.

I also found out that there is a CGI Resident Evil series coming to Netflix this summer. biggrin.gif

I cannot say that I have been watching anything recent religiously but I have enjoyed She-Hulk, The rebooted Beavis and Butthead and even the new Quantum Leap. Although I am disappointed Scott Bakula decided not to be involved in the show, I remain hopeful he will change his mind, mostly due tot he fact that the show evolves around the original so heavily.

I am looking forward to the upcoming Last of Us TV series expected early next year.

I've watched all 4 seasons but I couldn't retell you a single episode. Some of the characters are still bland.

To me, it's a typical CBS crime drama background show. Something you can watch while having dinner without paying too much attention.

I do think they handled that better in some episodes; depending on the main writer.

They fall into that trap, too. Even more so in later seasons, I think.

They pushed "the will they won't they" over 4 seasons and then they got cancelled. With NBC picking it up, at least the "Miggy" shippers might get their wish (unlike the MacRiley shippers).

They have the same writers team for Seasons 5 and 6 but I'm curious how much will change now that they're airing on another network.
