Another good if not excellent episode. This one was way better then The Eraser, nice fight in it. I liked Joe Santos in it. Way to go, MacGyver!!!

Oh Oh... new episode!!
I'm gonna go watch it again. I'll be back in 45 minutes to properly comment.

*looks at watch* Hey those 45 minutes are long gone.

MacGyverGod!! I'm SO busted. I got distracted.
Okay... comments to follow.
I voted good.
I love it when they have a character "recur". Gives a feeling of tying the history of the show together.
The premise was a little lame. They go to all that trouble and Jimmy let's he's picture get taken? You don't do that when the mob is out to kill you. He's SUPPOST to be smart.
It was funny when Mac took him back to the houseboat.
"That's your place?" "Yeah. What's wrong with it?" "It's a houseboat. It's going to sink." "I'll get you a life jacket."
or not
Ralph was a really bad actor. And he shot Mac.
Hey! I bet they played some ball before or after filming.

Coincidence that both Jimmy episodes introduced Mac's new homes? Well the house boat was the best invention of the series.
QUOTE (MacGyver Jul 13 2005 @ 10:00 AM )
I agree. The houseboat helped define MacGyver. (Of course, it did the same for Rick Simon (of Simon & Simon) and the guys on Riptide too, but I mainly remember MacGyver having a houseboat.)
Anyway, I think "Back From the Dead" was a great follow up to "The Eraser". Joe Santos is a great actor, as he proved on "The Rockford Files" with Jim Garner and on "Hardcastle and McCormick". (I met someone whose last name actually was Hardcastle just the other day! ) I loved the part where MacGyver slides through the air and the part at the end, when he rappells down the net to (literally! ) get the drop on the bad guy! It was also a pretty intense ending, when he's shot and just manages to get Jimmy to safety. Very cool episode, as always.

If you're interested in more Joe Santos roles, I think he has a few gueststars in The Sopranos and my most recommendation to you is, he starred as a Police Captain in The Last Boy Scout, along Bruce McGill and Dick Butkuss. Dick has a small cameo role in the early beginnings and Bruce McGills scenes are very interesting to watch. Those who haven't seen this movie go and rent it, it's worth your money. The fight in Back from the Dead is one of my favourite fights of the whole series. I just like a fight in the middle of the episode or about 15 minutes to the end. Also in the early beginnings. It makes me feel, like there's more to come.

I voted excellent!! geez I'm so way behind and I'm lazy! ROFL. This was an awesome episode.. I liked how Mac talked to his lady neighbor and she wanted to date him. I liked how Mac wanted to protect Jimmy.. Mac knew how priests acted and knew something was up at the church. Awesome episode!!!
I really like this episode. It's the first time we see the houseboat too. Gotta love that!
I really like the Jimmy character although I thought those two baddies where a little bit too dumb at times. But over all this is classic MacGyver with all the elements that make season 3 so great.

I know it is a really silly remark but have you noticed that there is the same heater/oven at the end of the episode like in "The secret of a Parkers' House" I know it is not important...

Poor Mac got himself shot! He looked in so much pain I wanted to give him a hug... It was a good episode, although I found the first half hour or so boring and dull. The good stuff only started happening at the end.

Finally, Episode 47, in which the houseboat is introduced!
Needless to say, I really, really love the houseboat, it has to be my absolute favorite location throughout the series. And that conversation between Mac and Jimmy was a great introduction. (Ironically, as we all know, the house bout didn't sink but burn... )
Once again Mac is using a fire hose, but not for its intended purpose. Great escape, though!
It did indeed look very painful when Mac got shot, and very realistic when he was dragging himself around that factory afterwards, poor thing. I found it a wee bit implausible though that he'd hit a perfect spot on that steam pipe, as groggy as he was... but, OK.

The bad guys were standing on a pier behind a sign that said 'No Warring'. At least I am postive that is what it says. What on earth is warring'?
I forgot to answer this: I *think* that signs says "No swimming or diving." According to Google Translate, "No warring" is Afrikaans and means "No confusion." Oh, the irony?

I just looked through the screen caps --
The warehouse has a sign that says "Banning Cannery & Net Loft". The mobsters stand in front of it at various points. There's no sign forbidding swimming or fishing or diving, although Mac does pass a sign earlier that says "No Trespassing".

Oh, I thought she meant this sign, it looks kinda blurry when magnified, but on the screencaps you can clearly see that it says "no diving or swimming:"

Doesn't seem to be much love for this ... but tis (imo) an excellent episode. I'm a big baseball fan and was a huge Hank Aaron fan and actually saw him play live against the Montreal Expos away back when. So, how cool is it to have MacGyver and 'Hammerin Hank' (please Google 'Hammerin Hank" if you're not familiar with the handle) in the same hour? Really cool!
Not to mention Joe Santos, of The Rockford Files series fame back for another important guest star appearance .... surely RDA, a big fan of the Rockford Files, had a hand in this (re)casting?
The houseboat! I've seen almost all the Season 3 episodes(I think) and this was my first glimpse of the 'watery palace'. Fantastic digs ,,,, and that neighbor is hot, hot, hot ... do we ever see anymore of her?
Okay, the climax action/fight scene at the end is a little bit of a polished turd ... we've seen this cinematography/angle/scene/script before, I think. But there are several good and different onsite locations in this one (very important for my interest) ... including the houseboat, stadium, hood warehouse, and daughter's home.
The grandson's 'Bears' uniform is a shameless schmooze of 'The Bad News Bears' films ..... and I'm really beginning to hate the producer's 'sucking up' and need to appease, we the audience, with these 'takes' from popular of the day film. They didn't need to stoop so low, the series had enough gas/wings to be original, trendsetting, much more creative. Believe me!
I liked the lighting of the filmed scenes, it had energy, was uplifting and had good legs. Unfortunately the ubiquitous 'factory scene climax' was a bit dark from the mediocre transfer to DVD and I found myself squinting a bit to take in the details. Small issue, a great episode with a good cast, and great flow.
The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man's determination.

Cool! I'm from Milwaukee where he played as a Brave and a Brewer....unfortunately I was too young at the time to remember. However, his legend lives on!
