Hello, I just want to inform you that in my free time I am now working on application for Windows called MacGyver Episode Guide.
It will be complete guide for all MacGyver episodes.
Each episode will include snapshots from it and also MacGyverisms snapshots with labels.
I am using internet websites to collect for example plot info, interest things and MacGyverisms labels. Snapshots are from mine own collection of DVDs (ripped of the DVD and resized to smaller size).
I am including first image of the application, so you can make your own decision about it (but it can change during the programming):

And I also don't know when I will finish it, and I also don't know if I would finish it
It depends just only on my free time (I like programming)...
There will be also a website for it with actual news, so stay tuned and I will inform you later

This project sounds vaguely familiar to me, but I'm not sure why...

I am working on it in my free time and as I already said I love developing applications - especially when the application will be useful for me (and if it is something connected with MacGyver then I love developing much more )
I will be working on it and in some days I will release first beta version (for example with first 10 episodes done) for free download so everyone can try it yourself and write there his/her impressions...

Yes, I know that program, but my target in my application is that I want to include also snapshots and macgyverisms snapshots of each episode (and also I think that mine application looks nicer)...
but remember that images of each episode has approximately 1 MB so images of all episodes = 139 MB, so the final version of this application will be big approx. 150MB

No it sounded familiar because I poured blood sweat and tears into making a MacGyver book, and I sold 50 copies of it on ebay and oh it's a long story...*where's my laying down to die emoticon?*

PS: If it shouldnt start up, you probably dont have VB6 runtime files. But you can download them somewhere on Microsoft site (just google "VB6 runtime" and that should do it)...

EDIT: just a little addition -> if I will find a way how to compress AVI files (I think I already found it) then maybe I will also add all 7 seasons theme video to it - it will include also information from which episode was the actual scene cutted... it depends on compression

I like it! What you have so far looks really good. Adding the theme tunes would be a nice touch - good luck with that.

adding all 7 theme tunes (video) will add some MB to it (approx 50-70 MB) so in total 200MB (pictures and all of it...) hmm will try to find a way to reduce this

Here is the currently status of Episode Guide:
- Done episodes descriptions 1x01 - 1x03
- Done themes from first 3 seasons
- Added quotes from first 3 episodes in MP3 (will be adding more later...)

so I decide to make this project as best as I can do so I changed some things and add some new things to it, here is list:

+ each episode will include snapshots, macgyverisms snapshots and memorable quotes also with MP3 sound to play it while reading it
+ there will be also all 7 seasons themes in AVI format to watch (while watching you will see which scene in theme is from which episode right in application)

- big problem is the final size of it, including AVI files, MP3 sounds (quotes) and images from episodes it will be very big I suppose (300-500 MB maybe - I hope that less) so I dont know yet how it will be distributed, but it will be FREE for sure

I will release soon another version for you to test out actually situation

I have made another public release, version 0.1

This version is 57 MB big (I know, much bigger from previous version) and here is why - it includes:
- description and quotes of first three episodes of season 1 (quotes are in MP3 so bigger size)
- themes of first three seasons with showing in application from which episode is each scene in theme(themes are in AVI and each AVI is approx 15 MB big - very high quality)

This version is mainly for testing purposes, to check how the things works and so on...

You can use WinRAR (www.rarlab.com) to open the file you have downloaded and extract installation EXE file from it (I had to upload it in RAR format, because EXE just didn't work and I don't know why)...

I can't get this new version to work for me. The first time I tried the WinRAR diagnostic told me there was a corrupt setup.exe file and the second time I get "unexpected end of archive" and it wont open. Anyone else having problems?

oh I know where is the problem, the server isnt accepting such big file sorry for that I will fix it right now (I will upload it to another server) it will be fixed during 1 hour I hope, will post another link

after you clicked on link to download the file, the new page will appear and you have to click on a button labelled Download 'macgyverguide_0.1.rar' nearly at the bottom of the new page that opens... it will start download and now it should download whole file...

I really like the clickable quotes.

In the themes bit I just get a space where the video should be. Is that right for this version? Just, you mentioned you'd added videos in avi format. I'm not seeing any video for the first 3 themes, just the audio and the names of the episodes the clips come from along the bottom.

To switch between the themes for each season was a little misleading at first. For a moment I thought I only had season one theme but then I noticed the seasons listed down the side that I can click on. I was trying to use the season links at the top.

Other than me not seeing the video (which might be something at my computer, anyone else have a problem there?) and the slight moment of confusion when I was trying to switch between seasons in the theme section, everything looks great. Nice job Reptile!

A little typo I spotted in Thief of Budapest. You call Yanna Tanna by mistake. Also are you sure her father was captured along with her brothers? I just remember her going on about her brother and nothing about her father.

Clickable quotes - you mean that you can click on speaker symbol to hear them?
