Supposing MacGyver, or someone like him, learned all or most of his skills in the military. What branch and career would he most likely been in? In other words, which military career, in your opinion, is most like MacGyver?

He diffused bombs in Vietnam with Charlie Robinson. But I think MacGyver's skills developed since he was young living as a cub in Minnesota. As a kid in 1963 he succesfully turned his bike into a cart. Not bad for a kid his age. Also Harry probably thought him a lot of what he knows.

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.

Having him be a US Army veteran seems reasonable, even though the other branches also have their own EOD folks. Getting his head shaved in basic training must have been traumatic, though

From what I've been able to tell, it's been established that Jack was in the US Army.
