Thought this might have been posted alread, but guess not!
Imagine this...Amy has a nitpick about an episode she likes. I think my hubby has this guage...the more I nitpick the more I like it!
Anyway, right now I can only think of one, since I haven't watched this one in a while.
If you compare Cherie's reaction to the poison and Mac's reaction, I thought Mac's was a little understated. The guy blew the stuff in Cherie's face (once) and she was toast, immediately zombified. Now I realize she's smaller that Mac and all, but, the "Baron" hit Mac TWICE with the stuff. While his reaction was super acting (in my opinion) don't you think the poison should have taken effect faster...I mean the Baron and Mama had this conversation in the meantime and minutes later Mac's put in the coffin and later he takes the antidote. I think he should've been a goner long before that. A simple fix would have been when Mama slipped the leaves in his pocket but first slipped one of them in his mouth as she was explaining it to him. I mean if she had time to "covertly" explain the leaves as she did surely could have popped a leaf in his mouth. That way maybe the leaf could have started its thing in small measure until he could chew it hidden away in the coffin.

He just blew little more. Too nitpicky, me thinks.

This may very well be a stupid question, but I haven't seen this episode in a looooong time. Was MacGyver expecting it? If he was, I don't know about you guys, but I would have made a point not to breathe in what someone was blowing in my face. Matter of fact, I'd make a point not to breathe it in, expecting it or not.

I think it took him by surprise... he didn't know the dude was gonna blow the powder at it.
Blowing powder into someones face surly isn't the most effective way of delivering it.. most of the powder ended up on his face anyway... and if theres any kind of breeze wouldn't the others get some of it as well?

I always wondered about the guy who was holding Mac when he got dosed... even if he had been holding his breath, he would have gotten a healthy bit on his skin and maybe in his eyes... I'm pretty sure it can be absorbed through the skin, too.
Or maybe Zombiefying is covered in the Taun'taun'ma'koot Health Insurance Plan!

You guys are too funny!
Not only was MacGyver not expecting it but he had just received a pretty good gut punch. Between that and the way that guy was holding his arms behind him it would have been pretty darn hard to hold his breath.

Its one of the things that I don't like about this episode..
theres no consistency. the powder knocked Cherie in one go, yet only seemed to stagger MacGyver.
That whole deal irks me.
I think of it like the way alcohol affects the body. Males can consume more alcohol than women as their bodies are bigger and better able to absorb it. Women can only manage a fraction of what men can before they start to feel the effects.
If you imagine the poison as alcohol, Cherene would have been so drunk she was unconcious, but Mac would have only ingested enough to make him wobbly on his feet.
It'll be a male/female thing and the difference between our two bodies. That's my assumption, anyway!
"You may not believe this, but there have been times when I've had a lot more fun in the back seat of a car." - MacGyver (Golden Triangle)
I do belive he was fighting it more then the girl did, MacGyver saw the effects of what the drug did and so he didn't want to end up like the girl did, plus he is the star of he show and if he got too zombied he would of ended up dead.

When Mac escapes the coffin in the truck he takes the leaves from the red pouch Mama Lorraine gave him. During the scene the red pouch disappears and reappears on his shoulder. When Mac says: 'Come on, turn!' the pouch is clearly gone, the next shot it's back.
Than later when Mac throws the doll on the ground and kicks out the guard, it's like he's wearing diffirent shoes/boots. Though he wore black shoes nearly the whole episode. Also very visible when he kicks his coffin open. Of course scenes are set in a sandy area and as in the fight with the two guards as well as the moment he returns to the dam sand flies up, it's understandable his shoes gets dirty. When Mac kicks out the guard and let himself fall to the ground, you can clearly see either a diffirent shoe or the same one very sandy. Than later when he descends the ladder in the Baron's chamber, it's like he's wearing the same old black boots but dirtier.

When Mac enters the shop and greets Denise and Cherine he's got hair all over his forehead but when Mac explains why he was there he's hair has splitted to both sides of his head.

I have a different nitpick: Choosing Datura stramonium to be an antidote is a Really Bad Idea...
It might be the best thing in the world for reversing funky zombie powder, but a dose as heroic as the one Mac helped himself to from Mama's plant is also going to have some pretty interesting side effects! Datura gives you hair-raising hallucinations and then makes you go to sleep/into a coma.

It's mentioned by Dr. Redempteur as a harmful substance but an antidote against the poison of blowfish. So actually the zombie powder must've been based on blowfish poison. So the idea was to fight poison with poison. Though it has been said one poison can be the antidote for another, but I don't know if it's ever proven.
I just read that the leaves have a bitter nauseating taste so that can explain why Mac laid his head on his arm.
Apparently it has been used by Native Americans to communicate with the spiritual world. The plant has spiritual and medicinal uses despite it's toxicity. It can be used to treat asthma, Parkinson and motion sickness but should be avoided by people with heart conditions and glaucoma.
You can find it practically all over the world and it's been used by a lot of people including drug addicts mostly ending up dead or hospitalized. It's a very dangerous plant and no matter why you have it, you really have to know what you're doing if you're using it.
So it seems Mama Lorraine has some very dangerous stuff in her shop, but I think she knows what she's doing and what is dangerous and what not.
And apparently you're not supposed to eat it but you're supposed to smoke it. But we couldn't have Mac smoking something he doesn't know, right?

Not surprising considering that Voodoo transverses the full gambit of both light and dark practices.
But that danger would be true of any medicinal store. There's not very many medicines (natural or otherwise) which aren't deadly in large doses. At the end the day a drug is a drug regardless of where it comes from.
Hint of the day: Never annoy your Pharmacist. You never know what the might put in your medication.

Near the end of the episode when Mac waits to swing down from the roof of the dam to knock out the guard he drops the voodoo doll and you can see his bare hands. After he drops to the ground and he goes to check on the guard he is suddenly wearing heavy duty gloves. In the next shot they are gone
