It's official!!! Steven Spielberg & Harrison Ford are coming back to do another Indy in 2019!!! Harrison Ford will crack that whip again. Disney officially announced today that Indiana Jones 5 is coming in summer 2019, with Ford back as the world’s coolest archaeologist and Steven Spielberg, who helmed all four previous installments of the franchise, returning to direct. Indiana Jones 5 has officially been set for July 19, 2019. It’s currently the only film slotted for that date. The Marvel adventure The Inhumans scheduled for the weekend before (July 12), but it seems likely Inhumans will move away from Indiana Jones 5 before we get there, especially since both are being released by Disney — there’d be no point in the studio cannibalizing its own box office. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are producing Indiana Jones 5. Interestingly, the press release makes no mention of creator George Lucas — so if he’s involved at all, it’s likely in a reduced capacity. It doesn’t sound like Lucas has creative control over the new Indiana Jones, which is probably for the best if for no other reason than that it’ll allow the new team to have creative control. No other writers or stars have been announced at this time. Speculation about a fifth Indiana Jones movie has been swirling ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, and Disney has continually insisted that it does plan to return to the Indiana Jones series eventually. But understandably, resurrecting Star Wars seemed to be the studio’s first priority. Now that The Force Awakens has successfully charted a new course for that series, it looks like the studio is finally ready to turn its attention to everyone’s other favorite Lucasfilm franchise. Ford will be 77 by the time Indiana Jones 5 opens in 2019, and as charismatic and badass as he still is today, it seems a reasonable bet that Indiana Jones 5 will see him hand the franchise off to a younger star. Marshall has said they wouldn’t be taking the “James Bond” approach of simply casting a new actor as Indiana Jones, and Ford’s return confirms that — but the question remains as to how, exactly, the series could continue with a new lead. Will we go back to Indy’s younger days? Will Indy pass the torch to a younger relative or colleague? Does this mean Crystal Skull‘s Shia LaBeouf will be back as Mutt? (On that last one, probably not.)

I can't wait. I LOVE INDY as much as I LOVE MACGYVER! Hopefully Lucas' involvement will be minimal. If they do hand it off to a younger actor I hope they focus on the time line between the end of "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" TV series and 1934, the year before "Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom" takes place which is really a prequel to "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" which took place in 1936. I'm hoping they do not "re-boot" or "re-imagine" what made Indy Indy. It would be great to see a how he met Professor Ravenwood, Marion, Sala, Jock, Belloq, etc. But, given that that possibility is much farther down the road, let's focus on IJ5. WOOHOO!
"Jeep. My Jeep? What are you talking about? Penny! My Jeep?" - MacGyver
"Look at me. I'm a hurtin' guy! I'm beat up. I need a month's worth of sleep . . . and I need a haircut!" - MacGyver
"It's been said, 'The best gift a man could ever give another, was his life', Jack Dalton was never one to settle for less than the best. Thank you Jack." - MacGyver

And here's the latest Fans have questioned whether or not George Lucas would be involved in the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, especially after the Lucas-free production of the new Star Wars films. But according to director Steven Spielberg, Lucas will definitely be involved in the film. During a press roundtable event for The BFG, the film's director Spielberg revealed that Lucas will be an executive producer on Indiana Jones 5, returning to the character he and Spielberg last brought to the big screen in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. When asked about Lucas's involvement with the project, Spielberg said: "George is gonna to be an executive producer on it with me. ... I would never make an Indiana Jones film without George Lucas. That'd be insane." It shouldn't come as a surprise that Spielberg will make the film with input from Lucas. After all, the pair have successfully worked together on every Indiana Jones flick, creating one of the film world's great adventure heroes. How much input he'll have as an executive producer remains to be seen, though given the pair's close friendship, we suspect Lucas will at least provide advice during the development stage. We knew Harrison Ford and Spielberg were returning, and with the help of Lucas we expect another exciting adventure from cinema's greatest archeologist. And in case you missed it, John Williams has also confirmed that he will score Indy 5 & Star Wars Episode VIII & IX!

George Lucas was mostly a (the) problem I have heard. Always holding everything back when everyone else was happy. He even had a fallout with Frank Darabont who once wrote a version of the movie that was backed by Spielberg and Harrison but not by Lucas. Darabont afterwards made The Mist. But that doesn't have to mean I won't like Lucas' return.
David Koepp writing again... Mostly he made good solid scripts but there also less interesting ones but if you look at it he wrote: Mission Impossible, Jurassic Park, Panic Room and others. And it won't be the first time he will collaborate with Spielberg.
I always figured Spielberg didn't had anything to apologize for after Temple of Doom. As kid it was one of the first movies I liked with horror elements in it. It starts with a bang in fancy nightclub and with his tux a nod to James Bond? Followed by a chase through the street and a plane crash, a walk through the jungle and lovely dish scene, bug tunnels, human sacrifice, a moment of total desperation when they're all caught and than fighting your way out. They don't make that stuff anymore.
However returning to the roots of Raiders with Last Crusade was also a nice touch. Crystal Skull was just less interesting. Spielbergs less interesting movies are still countable on one hand. I've seen all his movies after that at the theatre and not one disappointment. But I do hope he can make a better one. It's all still fantasy though and like I said earlier, there is still so much you can do with Indiana Jones.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

More Indy news. This is a no brainer though...
Belloni:
You have another Lucasfilm property, Indiana Jones, and Steven Spielberg has agreed to make a fifth film. Will there be an Indiana Jones universe, eventually, like Star Wars?
Not like Star Wars, no. But we hope … right now, we’re focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort.
Reboot? You’ve got Harrison Ford for this movie, and then the presumption is there will be a younger …
Well, we’ll bring him back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That’s what I mean. It’s not really a reboot, it’s a boot — a reboot. I don’t know.
THR has been using the term “requel” for these sequels that reboot the franchise.
Requel. (Laughs.) We [got] Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film. But then what’s the direction? I’ve had discussions about what the direction is, [but] I don’t want to get into it.
But you do see making more films?
Yes, I do. I don’t think it reaches the scale of the universe of Star Wars, but I see making more. It won’t be just a one-off.

More news on Indy 5: During the Star Wars Celebration Europe, it was noted by Collider that ILM President Lynwen Brennan stated during a panel for "The Art of Storytelling" that Disney may be in the development stage of a new cinematic universe similar to what they have with the Marvel and "Star Wars" films but this time with the "Indiana Jones" franchise. "Kiri Hart and her group have mapped out a story and timeline across multiple platforms many years in advance, many exhausting years in advance," Brennan stated. "We have a great honor to have responsibility for, so we want to be really careful with that. Not only for Star Wars but with Indiana Jones, which we're all really excited about as well". Collider reports that just a while back Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the next film is indeed bringing back Harrison Ford to play Indiana Jones and then what comes after has yet to be decided. However, Brennan's statements now allude to a larger franchise that might include further sequels, prequels with a younger actor or even spin-offs. However, the report does point out that the intention is likely to keep the Harrison Ford films as part of canon. This means there may not be any form of hard reboot. Instead, if a prequel were to be done with a younger actor as Indiana Jones, they will still be taking place in the same timeline as "Raiders of the Lost Ark." GamesRadar points out that the role will be recast soon given that Ford is already 74 years old and may not be able to keep on making action films the way he used to. "Indiana Jones 5" may be the last with him as the older version and a future film may see Ford only in an introduction before it cuts back to the 1920s or 1930s with a younger actor. Cinematic Universe???? With who? Short Round?!
