I sometimes wonder if RDA would've enjoyed doing a sitcom--not a silly, stupid one that isn't funny, but a quality one. His sarcastic humor would've been perfect. What do others think?

He did do one... well, kinda. smile.gif

The "Brian and Sylvia" episode of Facts of Life was meant to be a pilot for a spin off. I thought it was funny... for the early 80's. Must have been too controversial though. blink.gif

And Legend wasn't a sitcom but it was funny as heck! (i said heck happy.gif )

I missed The Facts of Life one (I was a very tiny kid at the time), although I have heard about that one. It would be nice if TVLand would air it sometime. Also, I remember Legend coming out, but for some reason, I never saw it. sad.gif I would love to see it on DVD. Of course, he can be pretty funny on Stargate, too. I guess you don't really need a laugh track for something to be funny, especially with RDA, but it would've been cool to see him do something like that.

In real life the man is a walking sitcom himself. He really has this amazing ability to make a joke out of everything, especially himself.

Still, I think it's a pretty darn hard question you posed here MacsChick. I've been trying to come up with a show, but I simply cannot picture him in one... hmm.bmp

He is funny. At the Craig Kilborn show taping I thought I was going to laugh until I pee'd my pants. blush.gif

When Craig asked him to recreate a picture from the 80’s and handed him a wig, he had no problem jumping in. As a matter of fact, the picture below wasn’t the first shot. They got him when he wasn’t quite ready and he had them do it again so It was BET-TER.

Haven't seen the show though but I know the doctor of House of D (or how the show is called, because it nearly has the same title as that movie with Duchovny and Robin Williams but that's House MD I think) is a sarcastic character.

No doubt about that.

A lot of actor plays the opposite on screen of what they are in real life. Good guys are usually troopers in life. Of course there are the exceptions. Bad guys on screen are usually friendly in real life. That's what I've read at least.
RDA for instance, played the bad guy in a few TV-movies and he's like Sheepy said a walking sitcom and can make jokes out of everything.
MacGyver is a very serious person, with a sense of humor even though in later seasons it was hardly shown.

Maybe this guy needs his own sitcom. Some sitcoms were named after the actor themselves like Will Smith had the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Ellen Burnstyn Show, The Steven Weber Show. Maybe it's time for The Richard Dean Anderson Show. hmm.bmp

I'd hate for him to be in a sitcom. sad.gif Nothing against sitcoms per se, they are okay for what they are, but I always had some aversion towards sitcoms and soaps.

Now a good comedy series or even a drama ( someone mentioned House) with some comedic undertones such as what he was trying to do with Legend....

I've always thought he would be fantastic in a comedy. I agree, not a sitcom, but sort of a "dramedy" type show.

Too bad the producers of The West Wing couldn't have gotten him for a guest part, or even a recurring part. TWW had the kind of intelligent humor that I think RDA would have appreciated. The CSI shows would have been great for him, too. Those have some good undertones of humor now and then (especially Miami).

Here's an idea for you: RDA and Bruce McGill should have teamed up and done a comedy series together! That would have been a hoot.

There's an idea. He's a bit of a recluse, but he really loves kids, dogs, and blueberries. And although he's on the edge of technical illiteracy -- his daughter is more computer-savvy than he is -- for some reason total strangers keep expecting him to be able to fix things.

I picture him being on an Arrested Development type of show. In fact, nothing would make my life quite like him guest starring on that show.
