I can't look at a hot air balloon without thinking of MacGyver!

Jeep Wranglers always make me think of MacGyver, even before I became a die hard fan... XD Any hockey...

Getting ready for today's Village Garage Sale (a wonderful event which I think Mac would have loved!) and before 10am I'd unjammed a zipper on a kit bag using vaseline, and cleaned a rusty saucepan with tinfoil. Partner was ready to cut the zipper off with scissors ... but that's not a proper Mac-type solution, now is it?

Whenever I see paper clips, swiss army knives, jeep wranglers or duct tape I instantly think of MacGyver.

How many times did MacGyver actually sleep in his bed. I know he did in "MacGyver's Women" when he fell asleep watching TV. Otherwise he always seems to be on a sofa.

I think that was even the only time he slept on his bed. He didn't even sleep in it. Maybe he just prefers the couch. Interesting that in Humanity he says to be an insomniac and in Obsessed he seems to be one. I wonder, how did that happen? Than again in Lesson In Evil he seemed to be awake for two days straight. Still I can imagine that after being weeks away and returning home Mac would just go into some sort of coma state and sleep for like 12+ hours. He wouldn't wake if you blow up a bomb next to his couch.

I agree with that! Also, his missions don't generally allow him to have a normal wake/sleep cycle. I can understand him being exhausted and crashing on the couch every now and again. I was just wondering because in his first loft you could see his bed and in the houseboat it was no secret his bedroom was upstairs. Also, no one (I think) ever makes a comment about him preferring his couch to his bed.

But also there have been recorded cases over the years of individuals who seem not to need much sleep and suffer no ill effects. It seems to be a genetic thing and they also seem to tend to be gifted or driven people - I could imagine Mac fitting that profile too.

The MacGyver theme song & associated imagery is a clip that I play in my mind when challenged with a difficult task in a shortened time period. It has and always will be a motivational tool for me. The fan stuff means very little in comparison.

Very cool! I know this will probably sound corny, but I have a wallet-sized pic of MacGyver taped to my computer monitor at work. Whenever I feel overwhelmed I look at it and think "Talk to me Mac" because he was so calm under pressure and I'm the exact opposite...I panic!!

Well, I think the common denominator for 'we' fans is that the show is a diversion of some sort for all of us. A very pleasant diversion. I wouldn't want to dissect that theory much further, because I believe that it takes many paths from that point and possibly harnessed in a plethora of energetic methods - be it fandom, positive thinking, self-improvement etc., etc.

When I was running in the school Cross Country yesterday, for a brief period of time I was pretending that the horse smugglers from Budapest in "Thief of Budapest" were chasing me to try and make myself run faster. But then I got distracted.

Haha that's brilliant! (I find running a lot nicer now I'm not at school and can run at whatever speed I like and get distracted as much as I want to ...)

You like running too? That's awesome! Most of my friends despise it and do their best to get out of the Cross Country each year. But I find it nice and fun!

I think it's an awesome sport. It definitely has to be the most economical to get into. Everywhere I go on my travels, I try to log some miles in. I know the older I get, it's the only way I can keep the weight off!

I love running - it's great for busy people because you can pack a fair bit of cardio into a relatively short time! I can imagine Mac using it to stay in shape and recce the area; I also do what Barry does and use it to explore when I'm on my travels. I even did a marathon a few years ago but found the training runs too boring to ever want to do it again.

Awesome, I'd love to run a marathon one day! Perhaps after school.

On my way to work this morning I was behind an SUV that had a minor duct tape repair job...MacGyver!!

I've started to notice there are a lot of Jeeps in my area of the city...never noticed them before!!

I can't look at a Wrangler, houseboat, SAK, paperclip or duct tape without thinking of our hero. If anything, Mac makes me more creative than I ever was before....I love dreaming up solutions to problems!

I've got to run a marathon ..it's on my bucket list for sure!

yeah me too, sometimes whenever I face a difficult situation immediately I think "What would Macgyver do" kind of fun sometimes!

I was walking through the station today and there were all these posters about Evian water saying 'Live Young'. And it got me thinking about water and being young, so I figured: 'Think Young, Drink Young, Be Young!'

At church this past Sunday, I saw a license plate with the letters "MBB" and I immediately thought the middle B should be a D

Oh my gosh! It's so funny that that happened to you, because just the other day I was pulling out of the parking lot at work behind a car with the license plate letters "MBD." And for a second my brain switched the two and I got excited before I realized that it wasn't quite right. I was playing a Detective CD at the time, too.

The U2 song "I Will Follow" *always* reminds me of MacGyver. I guess because it makes me think of the relationship that he would have had with his mama? And also, Boy and the other early U2 albums up to Rattle and Hum just seem like something that I think MacGyver would listen to...

Every time I dust, I remember that scene in "Out In the Cold" when Pete says, "Don't you ever dust this place?" and Mac says, "Twice a year, like clockwork." I know just what he means!

Same here!! I just finished cleaning the house for the holidays and that line kept running through my head!!
