Are we able to make a list of all the things Mac ever ate and drank?

Posted by: MacsChick 22 July 2007 - 02:48 PM
Uh...I'll start with a few.

Tofu (Out in the Cold)
Lizard (The Gauntlet)
Egg roll (also Out in the Cold)
Fish (Final Approach)

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 22 July 2007 - 03:05 PM
chicken (Jack in the box)

Lamb sandwich? (slow death)

Alfalfa sprouts (can't remember episode)

Indicates that he eats pan cakes in runners

Orange juice (runners)

Tomato juice (Heist)

mouthful of wine (but didn't like it) (the heist)

Looks like the answer to your question is "Yes". tongue.gif

Posted by: MacGyver 22 July 2007 - 03:42 PM
Don't forget the infamous world famous MacGyver bayou-burned blackened redfish! biggrin.gif ("Family Matter")

And yes- believe it or not, MacGyver has had coffee- I'm pretty sure that's what he took a sip of in the opening gambit of the "Pilot" episode.
And he does alude to having a morning coffee in "The Prodigal".

But then later on, he makes it more clear that he's much more into orange juice and has something of an aversion to coffee- or at least that's the impression I got.

I think MacGyver also has orange juice in "Countdown" and "The Survivors"
And wasn't that carrot juice he said he had in the air balloon at the start of "GX-1"?

Oh yeah- and he had a chocolate bar in the "Pilot" episode! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Old Fan 22 July 2007 - 03:46 PM
He made somekind of protien drink - with a raw egg in it - in The Negotiator... with Deborah listening via her hidden microphone. (I think that was this ep... please correct me if I'm wrong...)

And he ate maybe one forkful of Pete's stew (I made it... well, out of a can...) in The Survivors.

He DIDN'T eat Faith and Hope's pea soup and crackers in "Faith, Hope & Charity".

I coulda sworn they never showed him eat Pete's stew ... I remember watching it a few times intently, seeing if he broke his sort-of vegetarian habits. Did I miss something???

And yer right, he made a protein shake with egg whites in The Negotiator, love that ep!

OH, doesn't Mac eat chicken in Jack in the Box. Jack had it hidden under the floor boards. Or did he just look at it? Been a few months.

He orders (but doesn't get to drink) coffee in last stand.

And didn't they have coffee in morning in Invisible killer? But turned out to be spiked with berries. I think they had coffee at the lookout tower too didn't they.. but we don't know if MacGyver had any or not.

Posted by: trtlsoup 22 July 2007 - 04:49 PM
You guys have great memories! I can't recall anything that he ate (or drank...)

I know he eats ice cream... it's in the opening credits. I know. Lame. (...and I call myself a fan.)

no he doesn't eat the stew. Shows Pete eating it, but MacGyver doesn't.

Posted by: Old Fan 22 July 2007 - 05:28 PM
Ah - OK - I wasn't sure... going from memory here - doh.gif I haven't actually see the episode (The Survivors) for awhile - that scene at the table in the cabin just sticks in my mind - where Pete informs Mac that he is to be his last charge before being rotated off the assignment. Now that I think about it... I remember Mac just pushes the plate away - without eating anything.

ohmy.gif Why don't we split up and each take different episodes to watch?

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 22 July 2007 - 05:50 PM
Salad (runners)

Fish (target MacGyver)

Ginger ale (more than once episode.. I think)

non alcoholic eggnog (Phoenix under siege)

if we can get a good list together I'll add it to the web site

MacGyver certainly did eat chicken in "Jack in the Box". I don't think he ever explicitly stated to be a vegetarian- I just know that he liked tofu and whipped bean curd every now and then. But he's also been seen eating fish and chicken and lizard, so he's not a strict vegetarian if he does claim to be one at all. (And I'm pretty sure he had eggs and bacon at the start of "Countdown" for breakfast- but I'll have to double check that before I can say for sure.)

Count me in to get a list together, if you end up doing that... I should have access to my DVDs after next week. Actually, I'd really love to watch it for something like that...

And like I said before, you all have amazing memories... biggrin.gif

Posted by: Lothithil 22 July 2007 - 08:44 PM
I think that MacNymph has a great idea... we should each take an episode or two and make notes. I'm not so strict as to judge the things that Mac eats as 'what he actually puts in his mouth', I include food that is implied to be consumed, remembered, and handled (such as the brownies that he baked for the kids in 'Final Approach' and the pancakes he made for Crystal/Jennifer).

According to my research MacGyver consumes, remembers consuming, or attempts to consume, the following things:
**From Pilot episode until The Widowmaker**
Please note that this list was composed BEFORE I bought the unedited version of Season 1.

Coffee (pilot ep, Last Stand, Twice Stung, Silent World, total of 7 occasions up to--)
Chocolate bar (Pilot)
Broiled Chicken (Goldn Tri)
Chocolate ice cream (Thief)
Chili (Thief)
Roast lizard (Gauntlet)
Unknown h'orderve (during the 'exhibition scene' in The Heist)
Apple (Heist, Last Stand, total of 3 occasions up to--)
Virgin Mary w/ celery (tomato juice with tobasco) (Heist)
Red wine (Heist)
Mystery stew in the Pyrenees (Gambit prior to Trumbo's world)
Chewing gum (Hellfire)
Orange juice (Prodigal)
Soda/cola of some kind (Prodigal)
Carrot (gambit prior to Target:Mac)
Fish (Target:Mac, mulitple occasions up to--)
Egg roll (Enemy Within, OitC)
Milk (Slow Death)
Roast lamb sandwich (Slow Death)
Prison food (Escape)
Ginger ale (Eraser)
Stuffed olives (Eraser)
Alfalfa sprout sandwich (Eraser)
Bean curd (Eraser)
Yogurt (Eraser)
Pastrami on rye (peace offering/bribe) (Twice Stung)
Brownies (bribe) (Final Approach)
Mountain Trout w/ wild mushrooms and pinenuts (Final Approach)
Rattlesnake (that takes care of lunch!) (Final Approach)
Indian food (Silent World)
Egg nogg (non-alcoholic) (PF u/Siege)
Bayou Blackend Red Fish (burnt) / Cheeseburgers (Family Matters)
Tofu Casserole (Out/Cold)
Rations (jerky, bread) (Bushmaster)
Unknown sandwich-type food (Phil's Diner) (DOA:Mac)
Strawberries (GX-1)
Trail mix (GX-1)
Phillipe's Chicken (Jack/Box)
Orange fruit (Widow)

My research in ongoing.... so please feel free to regard this list as 'things to look for' in your own research, to use or disregard! smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 22 July 2007 - 08:49 PM
good list.. you got episodes to match em to?

I probably should have added this before, but it would be good to be able to match the food to the episodes.

... sadistic, merciless... biggrin.gif

um, yeah, the thing is, Rock... unsure.gif I noted what foods and how many times i saw it, but not exactly which episodes they are from (my notebook was starting to look like a retro-screenplay happy.gif )

I'll go through and make notes of where I saw what, as far as my memory will permit, and I'll gladly make such notes when I watch again. smile.gif

Do we want to note only the food we see Mac eat, or the food we see him handle, speak fondly in regard to, and otherwise imply the possiblility of?

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 22 July 2007 - 09:36 PM
I think we'll go with see him eat and implied that he ate.

We can put a little (implied) in the appropriate places so I can distinguish them.

Mac's also drinking coffee in the beginning of The Prodigal, while he's on the balcony waiting for the Romano guy to show up.

That was orange juice. He didn't had any coffee as he later on said.

Now trying to fill up Loth's list.

He was chewing on something in The Heist during Caitlin's demonstration. Chewing gum?
Chinese food, egg rolls in Out in the Cold.
Some more chocolat in Bushmaster.
Water and nuts in GX-1.
The proteïn shake in The Negotiator.
Some sort of a salad with housedressing in The Endangered.
Popsicle orange taste in The Secret of Parker House.
Whatever he was going to eat in The Outsiders. (Don't think it was shown whatever was in those pots)
An apple in Runners and also his famous MacGyver banana pancakes or something.
Hot chocolat? Tea? Coffee? In the finale of Gold Rush.
Egg Rolls in Second Chance. Think it was egg roles, or some other Thai food.
Beans in Serenity.
Whatever he ate with Amy in Log Jam. Any chance of spotting leftovers?
"Hawaiian Pizza with pineapple" in The Wall. Didn't eat it though.
Soup but not sure which soup in Harry's Will. No meal, no package.
Was he eating something in The Wasteland's restaurant scene?
He also had tomato juice in High Control.
Preparing soup/salad in There but for the grace.
Popcorn in Deadly Silence.
Another proteïn shake in The Stringer.

There could be more though. Wasn't there a MacGyver Cookbook site once? Maybe we can make our own cookbook.

Edit: I just looked it up. Apparently there's only a recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Now I say we should do it. Making our own MacGyver Cookbook with recipes, ingrediënts and preparations.

Posted by: j12752 23 July 2007 - 07:11 AM
Ahh, ok. It was only in the first few episodes of the first season where he even mentiuons having coffee

MacGyver cookbook? We can call it "1001 uses for Tofu" lol I like tofu hotdogs

Posted by: Lothithil 23 July 2007 - 02:06 PM
Tofu makes great insoles for combat boots, and is good for filling balloons for the purposes of playing 'War'... but I wouldn't eat it! yucky.gif (kidding!) biggrin.gif

Mac
who misses yoghurt terribly sad.gif

Posted by: Old Fan 23 July 2007 - 03:56 PM
The bacteria in yogurt are GOOD bacteria - they help digestion. You may not LIKE yogurt, but for people who are lactose intolerant - like me (can't drink regular milk because they are deficient in an enzyme that helps to digest the sugar in milk) yogurt is OK to consume - the enzyme is in it - so no bad reaction. It's called "Cultured".

Posted by: MacNymph 24 July 2007 - 02:13 PM
In The Stringer :
he consumes hot tea, a smoothie (oj, strawberries, another berry, banannas and what looks like some kind of protien powder.)

Sam refers to Tofu and wheat germ in the fridge and Mac tosses a loaf of bread to Sam when he wants toast instead of the smoothie.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 24 July 2007 - 04:00 PM
Just saw Ghost Ship, he was baking fish in the campfire scene.

Posted by: MacNymph 24 July 2007 - 07:12 PM
might have already been said....

In Deadly Silents he eats popcorn

In Split Decision Dent has drank all his milk.

It was a way of asking her out on a date, had nothing to do with actually drinking coffee.

Chewing the carpet is an often overlooked source of fiber. So is chewing the scenery, but that's more common in villains' diets.

Edit for Season One:

Trumbo's World Gambit:
Mac recalls his mother's cooking; "Japanese soup, Italian Pasta, Basque stew"

Basque /bæsk/ Pronunciation[bask]
1. one of a people of unknown origin inhabiting the western Pyrenees regions in France and Spain.

Is that beer?

Posted by: Lothithil 4 August 2007 - 05:21 PM
It's hard to say if it is beer, by the label. I thought it a safe assumption that it was, because of one of Mac's lines:

"I sent you to the store for a few necessities, and you come back with chips and beer instead of talcum powder and diapers."

I figured that this line was a set up for the chain-reaction accident. I figured it was Jack's because:
1. Mac doesn't drink alcohol (unless he's trying to open sound-sensitive lock), and
2. I don't think Mac would leave an open bottle next to his computer.

About the "mystery stew", Mac says it is "Basque stew". Being Basque myself, there is no such thing as Basque stew. Moreover, the Basque Country is not in the Pyrenees, and Basques do not look they way they are portrayed in the episode but I guess that was just poetic licence; no problem. I thought I should make my point about the stew, though.

Hi,

In the Pilot episode we see MacGyver drinking coffee.
In Last Stand MacGyver sits down and asks for a coffee.
In The Prodigal, we hear him complain about not having his morning coffee.

Welcome aboard.

He said that to smooth Deborah out. Of course we only saw him drinking coffee in the first season, after that not anymore.

Good point- I tend to think of MacGyver's taste for coffee being one of those things that the writers initially had in mind and then did away with it after deciding that MacGyver would not be a coffee kind of guy.

Of course, you can also just argue that MacGyver simply lost the taste for coffee and at some point in 1986 just kinda swore it off.
Perhaps he made some dietary changes at the same point and started leaning toward health food, though not strictly being a vegetarian.

In The Secret of Parker House, Penny mentions to the sheriff how Mac's always saying that coffee doesn't agree with his stomach. Maybe it gave him too much heartburn, so he quit drinking it.

Good observation- of course, that may also have just been MacGyver's way of saying that he doesn't like coffee, without necessarily meaning it literally. But yeah, you can read that one either way and it works fine. In any case, we know that MacGyver drank coffee for a while in the First Season and either it was one of those things the writers hoped you forgot about and when you see Mac drinking orange juice for breakfast instead or something that you're supposed to assume that he's always had a dislike for coffee.

Or you can decide that he used to drink coffee in the First Season and somewhere after that point he simply decided to quit drinking coffee, for medical (i.e. heartburn) or other reasons, like he simply didn't like it anymore.

Posted by: MacsChick 26 March 2008 - 05:52 PM
I know that happened with me. I used to drink pure black coffee--no frills, no frou-frou lattes--just plain, strong black coffee. Well, it upset my stomach, made me nervous, and after awhile I just couldn't stand the taste. yucky.gif I quit drinking it, which is hard in a world of coffee drinkers to say you don't drink coffee, but I just don't follow the trends when it comes to my palate.

Ha ha- yeah, I don't drink coffee either. I don't have a problem with it as far as heartburn or such goes- I've just never liked the taste of it. And I think it kind of creates a dependency with some people who go rather fanatical over it.
I much prefer a good old glass of orange juice.
Of course, I think this is also something MacGyver helped influence as well. smile.gif MacG.gif

Many times I was wandering what MacGyver liked to eat and drink. We can see him eating or drinking from time to time, but I think that there are some inconsistency.

Ok, one thing is certain - he likes icecream biggrin.gif

He also don't drink alcohol - if I'm right.

In "The Prodigal" MacGyver is saying: "Now technically I'm driving a stolen car, following a kidnapper, and I haven't even had my first cup of coffee" but, in few episodes He is against drinking coffee.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 02:37 AM
I don't drink coffee anymore ... but often use it in expressions and talk about like I do. Same sort of syndrome - One head, two minds. doh.gif biggrin.gif

As for alcohol, I think that he wasn't exactly a teetotaler but only had a drink on special occasions - like in Log Jam where he has a glass of brandy with Amy.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 May 2014 - 02:40 AM
Mac's a health freak. He prefers juices over alcohol and tofu over junkfood. He doesn't even drink Cola for all I know.

Mac is not against drinking coffee. Maybe he just drinks it black with no sugar. He told Deborah once that he doesn't drink coffee either just to be charming.

Mac likes icecream (Thief of Budapest/Secret of Parker House), drinks coffee, orange juice (Serenity and several other episodes), carrot juice (Hell Week), tomato juice (High Control), ginger ale and alfa alfa sprouts (The Eraser) he also eat fruit like apples (The Heist and Runners) and oranges (The Widowmaker), he likes to eat Chinese (Out in the Cold and MacGyver's Women), eggroles (Second Chance) and is always up for pizza (Easy Target) and cheeseburgers (Family Matter) but he think hotdogs are weak (Jerico Games) and he loves chocolat (Pilot) and he always has bread somewhere in (The Stringer).

Further more he enjoys everything nature has to offer, nuts and fish.

MacGyver was against drinking alcohol and states as much in a number of episodes; not the least of which was 20 Questions in which he explains why he doesn't drink.

We do see him take a mouth full of wine in The Heist but it was part of a MacGyverism AND he screws up his face in disgust at the taste. We also see him avoid it in a couple (maybe more) episodes. One being Enemy Within where he takes a glass of wine offered to him and then hands it off to someone else. The second is the beginning of GX-1 when he toasts Heidi in the hot-air balloon. She has a glass of champagne and he has a strawberry.

Well, he's clearly accepted & nursing a glass of brandy/cognac by the fireside in Log Jam. Traditional for this part of the world. Sometimes the ambience (and or the script/setting) just induces one to imbibe. In other words, to hell with the squeaky-clean geekiness for a moment, boost the ratings, and appease the audience majority and do what they might do in a similar situation.

Assignment for tonight, checking out Log Jam and find out for myself. You might be right though. If so, Mac is only human and probably figured: what the hey, one doesn't hurt. You live in a cabin in the woods, fire is cracking in the fireplace, you had a good meal after a hard day of work and have a brandy by the fire.

You're thinking of Secret of Parker House. Penny offers the officer some coffee. The officer declines saying it was too hard on his stomach. Penny motions to MacGyver and says "That's what he always says".

On the subject of Mac drinking in Log Jam. I actually checked it out. It's kinda hard to tell what he's drinking. Nothing about that scene proves or disproves that he was drinking alcohol. I would say that this is something that's up to the viewer.

I'm an experienced drinker, and anytime I watched the scene, I just assumed he was drinking ginger ale or water while they finished up a meal. Given Mac's character and his dislike of alcohol... I really, highly doubt that's what it was.

But hey, who knows... I can be wrong. smile.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 10:34 AM
It's implicit, isn't it, with the fireside dinner, crystal double highball glasses used primarily for the serving of alcohol, the intense discussion, and Mac even swirls his glass a bit like you would with a fine liquor as he sets it on the table.

Or sure it could be ginger ale ... but the setting suggests otherwise and the whole scenario of two old friends discussing serious environmental issues over fine dinning and a soda pop is probably not the message the director would ever want to send.

There's also the slight illusion of romance created and which is used to set up the next scene where we are left in doubt whether or not there are any sparks happening between Amy & Mac. And with that in mind, a brandy by the fire somehow conjures up more romantic ambience then a bottle of A&W root beer could ever hope to.

Posted by: Jediferret 20 May 2014 - 10:59 AM
It could be alcohol... but I highly doubt it. smile.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 11:15 AM
It appears to be amber, dense and Mac appears to 'sip' it as he contemplates the facts that Amy is presenting. Too flat for ginger ale and too colored for water. wink.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 20 May 2014 - 11:34 AM
LOL! You're really trying to sell it aren't ya?

Dude, Mac doesn't like to drink. He doesn't like alcohol. My mother was the same way. She did a lot of things very similar to what you're claiming without alcohol. Could have been juice for all we know.

They were just finishing up a meal, and Mac doesn't like to drink. So I doubt it was alcohol.

RDA on the other hand... he was probably drinking something alcoholic.

Mac? Nah... I don't buy it. smile.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 11:55 AM
I'm not trying to sell anything - the director was trying to sell it given the ambience of the set chosen. I'm just interpreting what I saw. I bet 99/100 people would say that's some kind of liquor if shown the same scene and not knowing the background of Mac's preferred tastes.

I wish Mac had of said, "Amy, that's the best dang fireside prune juice I've ever had and would you mind topping me up while I use the washroom!' laugh.gif

But he didn't (thankgawd) and left us to draw conclusions from the visual evidence provided.....

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 May 2014 - 12:29 PM
I just saw it myself. You have to look fast though because you can see him putting the glass down. Considering they were both having a serious conversation and were really into it about the loggers and all, I doubt they would've been discussing it with alcohol. So nope, it wasn't. It looks like fun though having a meal next to fireplace.

Besides it was working day after, imagine Mac having a wooden head when he goes for a job.

Posted by: Jediferret 20 May 2014 - 12:30 PM
Joe SAKic - I don't mind being the 1/100 that thinks otherwise. lol The reason I don't believe that it's alcohol is based on my own personal experiences and what I know of Mac's character. Not based off some "ambiance" that you claim is there that I just don't see.

Sorry.

And that's ORGANIC fireside prune juice to you. wink.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 01:08 PM
Lol, Mac could be chugging clear liquid out of a 40ozer and there would be doubting thomas' among the hardcore fandom. laugh.gif

It was amidst rugged logging country for gawdsakes - they're not known for their teatotalling & kool-aid sipping after a day slogging timber and slapping skeeters - that's for sure.

And the Monday night audience full of tailgating football fans would like to believe that Mac might have a wee sip with them every now & then . And so they left it open to interpretation with lowball glasses, alcoholic proportions and prototypical setting .... and slid it right though. And relax folks, it was just a sociable sip for crying out loud - no need to call AA just yet. huh.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: KiwiTek 20 May 2014 - 01:13 PM
I just watched that scene and there's no swirling of the glass. Just a slight movement as he puts it down after taking a sip. He's also entirely focused on the newspaper clipping being handed to him as he does this. You normally swirl before you drink to release the scent and flavor not as you put the glass down.

The liquid is clear and flat... kinda like water.

And knowing that it's VERY well established that MacGyver doesn't drink at all. (He even states in one episode that carrot juice is a strong as he gets.) I think it's a 100% certainty that it was water in those glass tumblers.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 20 May 2014 - 01:29 PM
I just showed it to three people at the office who don't know MacGyver. One said whiskey and the other two said cognac. Amy has very rusty pipes if it's 100% water. biggrin.gif Regardless of what it is (often a little maple syrup diluted with water) - they appease both sides of their audience by making it look as close as possible to an alcoholic beverage that goes better with the particular setting and then by staying mum on the beverage and there by not incriminating Mac in the eye's of his watchdog fans. Btw, if there was a bottle of root beer sitting on the table - the next scene with the peeping jealous husband would not have been nearly as effective. wink.gif

Seems like a plausible explanation. But it does leave the question of what it could be within the non-drinking MacGyver universe. It does have a bit of a tinge to it.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 23 May 2014 - 06:08 AM
I just think the 'MacGyver Management' wanted the best of both worlds in that scene. Usually - if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck ... but there's nothing in the accompanying props/script that proved it a duck.

Amy probably just had the most stressful day off her life - just been arrested, marriage in tatters, and beloved forest under the knife. Enter old friend (and former love interest?) MacGyver to the rescue, a relaxing dinner by the fire with very appropriate looking and matching drinks. I know what 'they' needed & wanted us to believe they were sipping and for that 80s/90s scenario. And I also know what that era's audience would expect old friends (Mormons et al excluded) to be sipping by the fire.

Certainly had they had shown us 'what kind' of a sip Mac had taken - we would have known definitively if it were alcohol or not. But they chose not to in lieu of enhancing the slightly romantic ambience and have the drinking glass pass through the fire light for further effect.

So we are left with a split decision - the Mac purists in denial and the period etiquette purists in approval.

Posted by: KiwiTek 23 May 2014 - 07:00 AM
It's weird that 2 episodes before this one we see MacGyver as a cowboy in a saloon turning down alcoholic drink and asking for a glass of milk instead and then being hassled about it, including the line "he doesn't drink, he doesn't carry a gun. Is he wearing lace underwear?" (paraphrased).

Posted by: Joe SAKic 23 May 2014 - 10:42 AM
That was a dream. Anything goes in a dream and even Mac might have been susceptible to the odd vice. laugh.gif Personally, I would have had him let his hair down a bit, slug back a few whiskeys with Jack and the boyz in Serenity ... and then slug Murdoch or something. boxing.gif Good opportunity for something a little different - missed.

Posted by: KiwiTek 23 May 2014 - 03:19 PM
They weren't looking to do something a little different though because the shows fandom was built around having a hero who didn't do any of those usual things we see heroes doing in the other shows. So probably not so much opportunity missed as opportunity ignored. laugh.gif

So the answer to the this little conundrum about what was in those glasses I guess it that it was left to the viewers imagination to read into that scene what they like. But for the purposes of our food list I'm going to take into account the characters very well documented (and somewhat regularly referred to) dislike of alcohol which would mean it was dirty water? laugh.gif

I can see you're point of view though Joe. They certainly did load that scene with suggestive material.

I can see you're point of view though Joe. They certainly did load that scene with suggestive material.

My fandom basis is that he was into hockey, using his brains, the out of doors, and high technology. That's what I remember best, if you had asked me a year ago when I started to revisit the series if he'd ever shot a gun or took a drink in the series - I think I would have probably said yes to both. It's not something I kept track of with mental notepad and paper or found a particularly important characteristic of the show.

And the fact that he did or didn't has no basis what so ever on my appreciation for the show or character. I think the series touched fans in many different ways and struck many chords along the way.

Having said that and having come of age in that era and in the heart of logging country - it would be definitely have been the norm to have a proper tipple with an old friend in such a given situation - and they tried their very best to sell it as so.

Just because he doesn't drink doesn't mean he doesn't like the taste of a fine wine. A fine wine that isn't even his.

That look on his face is the same as mine when I drink wine that's too dry. I would think it's because he didn't like it because I'm not a fan of dry wine. XD

Most likely it was just something like grape juice. Jensen Ackles revealed some things used by the props department with alcoholic drinks and coffee. Apparently, coffee is flat Coca Cola, whiskey is Coca Cola cut with water and beer is a non-alcoholic variant. I dunno why, but I find that rather interesting... XD
