The Mythbusters MacGyver Special will air on New Zealand's Prime channel this Saturday night (26-July-08) at 8:35pm.

It's followed by a special airing of parts 1 and 2 of Legend of the Holy Rose, which is of coarse, 1 of 2 episodes which has a specific mention in the Mythbusters special.

The special airing is being made as a 3 hour gap filler due to the late start of the Tri-nations rugby match on Saturday night.

I watched the show tonight! First time I've ever watched a "mythbusters" show too, so it was appropriate that it was a MacGyver special! Gutted though that they busted his ideas but as one of them said at one point, the theory was actually correct, it just wouldn't work in practical real life - ha ha! I was, however, pleased that you CAN actually pick a lock with the filiment of a light bulb!! *smiles proudly* A great way to spend a wet, windy, cold winter's night in Wellington

yep, thanks to a weather bomb dumping on us, I missed the whole darn thing, including the rugby game afterwards!

The MacGyver special was aired in the UK on the Discovery Channel this week too. Wednesday I think but I was offshore where the days blur together a lot.
I didn't realise It was on but managed to catch the show as it was on in the TV room. Even though I watched the clips on MOL already it nearly made me late for my shift.

I was playing all smug and “guessing” the outcome of each myth.

At least you have seen the Mythbuster episode already but its a pity about the game. I have Scotland v New Zealand tickets for November. I think I must be a sucker for punishment but I’m really looking forward to it!

Actually, the way the All Blacks are playing at the moment, that could actually be a really close game against Scotland Go the Scots, I say (gotta back my heritage!)

I've broken it down into sections of each myth they tested plus the 4 parts of the MacGyver Challenge.

I may be wrong about this,but I've read somewhere the writers changed some facts (or sequence) in order to prevent people trying those things,especially kids.

They not only did that but they did not set alot of them up proplerly, which really is not fair. I quit watching that show because of them doing that. My goodness if they want to get into such a line of work they need to do it fair and proper.

MacGyver producers deliberately missed out key ingredients of any explosive or otherwise harmful MacGyverism to ensure that it could not be reproduced by children.

Mythbusters have on rare occasions hidden chemical components of things like home made explosives and something else which I can't remember, but I know they made quite a big deal out of the fact that theye weren't allowed to show the full contents of what they were doing.
