The wealthy, and somewhat neglectful, parents of wayward teen Lisa, the Woodmans first met MacGyver when their daughter came to MacGyver's aid while attending private school in Switzerland.
MacGyver has remained a friend of the family and helped them through Lisa being kidnapped and later developing a drinking problem.

Loved Lisa in the beginning, but by the time we got to '20 questions' she drove me nuts. And her parents, well...never much cared for them. So, they averaged out. Literally. Lisa alone would have gotten a good vote, but as a lot, they're just average for me.
"Now, come on, Pete! Look at me! I'm a hurtin' guy! I'm beat up! I need a month's worth of sleep! And I need a haircut!" MacGyver, 'Serenity'

The Woodman's... as parents, they were a cliché. Mrs. Woodman, as little as showed her, seemed a tad self absorbed-but Mr. Woodman was just a jerk... with occassional bout of unselfishness.
The plot was a cliché... poor little rich girl has absentee or absorbed parents on the verge of divorce.
I liked Cease fire and Mayim Bialik was a talented little girl, but I really don't have anything positive to say about the Woodman's. Hearts of Steel was okay, but by the time they got to Twenty Questions I was totally fed up at "Lisa's" folks.
I agree with the 'wabbit... Lisa alone is AOK alone, but combine her with her parents... well, just got a Good. When I think about it, and reading this over, I should have voted Average.
"My Jeep went over a cliff, I died... and went to Thanksgiving?"
now that you mention it I think your probably right about the cliché. I'd go so far as to say it was probably a statement about the kind of parents which where starting to emerge as a result of the commercialization and other things which where driving both parent out to work and breaking up the "family unit".. and which has continued to get worse over time.

Lisa Woodman is one of the those characters that I always wondered "whatever happened to that girl" after Mac left LA, because he parents weren't on the ball as parents. I wish that Mac had said something to them about that, or recommended a family therapist. I like Lisa a lot but her mother makes me mad, her dad just yeeesh!!

At one point in "20 Questions," Lisa says her parents are threatening to send her back to Switzerland. If they were my parents, I wouldn't complain about that! If I have her age pegged right, she'd have been halfway through high school when MacGyver left town. By that time she might have been mature enough to get through those last two years on her own. I, too, would have liked to hear more about what became of her. Can't say I ever wondered about her parents, though.
They've got guns. All I have is orange juice and a rope...
oh boy theses two shouldn't never had kids look how they turned out, poor lisa never getting the love and attention she wanted from them, and never will, if I was her I would of left home as soon as I could.

I don't have a good feeling about Lisa's parents... Already in Switzerland things were going badly with Lisa. For a heart of steel, Eric is a heartless businessman and does not listen to anything or anyone. And for 20 questions it's even worse when they are together. Indeed, apart from arguing, blaming Mac and losing Lisa again, they are useless.
