I see you've found our game! I head up the studio that produced it. We're located just outside of Chicago, but the company headquarters is over in Austria.
Feel free to ask me anything you'd like to know about the game or how we made it. It's been a labor of love for about 18 months now, and you should know that your site was definitely one of our resources.
The game is in final testing now, followed by 3rd party certification. You should see it on casino floors soon.
I really love the header logo (see below image). I'd love to hear a bit more about how that and the rest of the graphics all came about as well as the general background story from conception to reality.
The images in the header are both from season 2. Was this season a particular focus for the game?

Hey Guys,
I see you've found our game! I head up the studio that produced it. We're located just outside of Chicago, but the company headquarters is over in Austria.
Feel free to ask me anything you'd like to know about the game or how we made it. It's been a labor of love for about 18 months now, and you should know that your site was definitely one of our resources.

All the best!
Matt
First, let me say thank you for making the theme the old series and not the new!
Sounds like I'll have to find them on my next Vegas trip, as they won't be ready for Nov 2nd, but I look forward it!
First off, we're always looking at shows, movies, and music for possible licensing. For historical reasons, Novomatic is not a huge player in this type of game, but if MacGyver is successful it'll lead to more. I was happy to find the license available, and it's been very smooth working with CBS on approvals.
After securing the license, we set out to watch as many episodes as possible. I was a fan during the original run, but I'll admit to not having watched the show since then. It was surprising just how much I remembered! As we watched, we took notes: iconic scenes/images, good quotes, anything that helped get the feel of the show. We also scoured the net for sites like this to see what still resonated.
Only then did we start designing the game, laying out options for symbols, and brainstorming bonus features. The original symbols included Pete, Jack, and Nikki (the only other characters we had rights to use), but we ended up focusing on Mac. The symbols are in three basic categories: Mac, Transportation, Gadgets. Just coincidence that the hovercraft and glider both came out of season 2. In the game and final toppers, you'll see that the SAK is blue. Unfortunately, the red is owned by Victorinox...
Two main bonus features, Bomb and Diamond. The Bomb bonus is a composite of many episodes and leverages a currently popular game mechanic. The Diamond bonus was inspired by season 1's The Heist. The original version had a mechanic similar to season 3's Fire and Ice, but that was simplified after focus testing.
The other bonus that was worked up but ultimately left on the cutting room floor involved MacGyver rescuing Pete, Jack, and Nikki. Maybe in the sequel.
Sadly, we're not licensed in Nevada, so you won't find the game in a Las Vegas casino! We are in many other states, so hopefully, you have a casino nearby.
Sorry, not any time soon. Washington uses a different set of rules for their slot machines than any other market. We have a sister company that converts games to their rules, but it's a complicated arrangement and I don't think it would happen soon.
I'm not happy that we're 0 for 2 in the markets people named! Anyone in California?

Your not licensed for the gambling capital of the U.S.? That seems like quite a mis-step.
Are you licensed in other countries or just the US?
We're based in Austria and have significant pieces of the European, South American, and African markets. Just starting our efforts to enter the North American markets, and a strategic decision was made to start outside of Nevada. Plenty of other casinos where we can test and evolve our content before tackling Vegas. The style of the content and gameplay is quite different.
