I'm excited about the series getting picked up and about Lenkov's involvement. He's done a great job with Five-0, is experienced and talented, and based on some things I've read about him he seems to genuinely care about the fans.

If the pilot was as dire, as some people make out. CBS wouldn't be investing time, resources, and money into this project. Nor, would they be stupid or naive enough to put this into series commitment.

The fact that having viewed the pilot CBS, gave this the green light for series commitment, only means that they saw huge potentially.

No one has commented that Lucas Till is still on board, if this pilot was such a flop - do you not think that it would have been Lucas that would have been the first to be axed, as he is the key, and of most concern to this series? The fact that he is still attached means that his portrayal of the character met everyone's expectations.

Secondary characters are less of a worry, and they are making adjustments to the script based on (focus groups, CBS executives, production personal) notes and creative direction.

All this is good news. Think positive!

Also Themacgyverproject, I'd love if you could elaborate on, what you know about Lenkov's background/experience?

Well getting picked up for a series is a good sign at least. they saw some potential in it to go all the way. let's hope for the best

Just hope it actually gets aired like I said I am very unfamiliar with all of this and if it is mid season that scares me a little...

But like I said I am really hopeful Macgyver not only airs but becomes a huge hit like the original

He was a writer and producer on season four of 24 (one of my all time favorite shows and a really hard show to write), and he was the main creative force between the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, another show I like and the only current show that I watch every week. I found an interview where he says about Five-0:

I was a fan of the original show and actually my dad was a huge fan so I'm not only a fan through osmosis but I'm a fan through me watching the show while he watched the show and me having no idea what it was but knowing that it was important to him. There was a lot of pressure to make him happy because he represents a lot of people who watched the original show religiously and were coming at this thing with their arms crossed thinking 'Are they just going to blow my fond memories of this thing?' That's huge pressure but at the same time I felt that I had found an opening in the franchise that hadn't been mined and I felt if I could really milk that it would be able to stand on its own and still pay tribute to the original show.

For me this is a good sign that he genuinely cared about the original and its fans and didn't want to just capitalize on its name and market value. In the original Five-O the villain Wo Fat was a lot like Murdoc in that he would always get away and never get caught, and they brought back Wo Fat in the reboot and so I wonder if he would do the same with Murdoc (one can hope!).

And wanted to say thanks to Dashboard for some great updates! I appreciate your hard work in finding news about this.

FOX just announced "Prison Break" to start in mid-season. Me being from Switzerland, I really don't know anything about American TV, but maybe it's not that unusual to show an action-heavy TV show around mid-season?

(Well, it doesn't matter anyway for me since we don't get a TV show like up to 1 or even 2 years after it's US premiere - if we're lucky enough to get it at all.)

That was great information, and further highlights and cements my feelings that we are gifted (and should be thankful), for Lenkov contribution, onboard MacGyver.

He knows it's a challenge, he knows the importance of the show, and he'll be aware of the pressure he is under to make this show, as successful as the original.

CBS are doing everything right on this series - Have faith in them to succeed.

In one of his Instagram photos he replied to a comment about being happy with a remark along the lines of "Why would I be happy with this much pressure to make the show work resting on my shoulders" (greatly paraphrased)

So yeah he seems to have the right attitude and his intention is to make this thing fly.

I just read that CBS canceled "Rush Hour" and "Limitless" - these are probably both Action shows, right (they're not available here)? Guess that means even more pressure on the MacGyver Reboot, but maybe also a better budget... that's not too bad, I guess.

I guess it makes sense if they cancelled at least two other action shows... they probably have to compete even more now with other networks' action shows.

My guess is that CBS' MacGyver will be better received than we all think.

If this is to be ready for the Fall - this will start at a great pace to meet the scheduling commitments.

Also remember these problems were only highlighted to us on Friday, but they have known about them since March when the show was being made. So all the planning for this and the changes have been going on for a few months - not since Friday as we may think.

Scripts for upcoming episodes are probably being written as we speak.

As for Macgyver well in about 4-6 hours we will know if it's fall or spring for Macgyver my hope is fall.
