I think one of the problems with the original series was that they seemed to start to run out of ideas for new Macgyverisms. There were a few good ones, but season 7 seemed very bland to me. Wouldn't it be awesome if CBS created an e-mail address or webpage for viewers and fans of the show to submit ideas for new Macgyverisms? They wouldn't be obligated to use them, but I think it would allow for a larger pool of ideas and keep the show fresh. It might be cool to see your name mentioned in a credit slide for submitting any ideas that they actually ended up using.

What are your thoughts? Too complex to handle?

Sounds like a good idea to me Invader. I'd heard that a lot of the original ideas came from viewer write ins. Does anyone else know if this is the case?

NO only 1 came from a view write in.

They held a competition (I think) to get new ideas, but it turned out that only one was able to be used, which was the egg whites in the radiator.

Still in today's world, i think it would be a great idea to source out MacGyverisms this way. But we need not make the writers lazy now!

One of the reasons I loved the comic book (and the trailer for the new show) was how cool the new macgyverisms were

We had

Getting out of a cage with a dish pan and jacket
Charging in IPhone with a belt buckle and electric wires
The hydolic thing with the airplane (at work doing this from memory)
Lassoing a helicopter


And from the trailer sure certain macgyverisms mirrored the original show (finger print based on ink from s printer etc)

But the build a bow and arrow and an explosive arrow is original and kind of cool...

I do hope that they find new ways to incorporate macgyverisms into the modern world

At the end of the day, MacGyverisms are quick fixes or just ways around everyday obstacles. Something nobody really tried or thought of. For every new invention, there will always be a hack. Or a MacGyverism.
