I'm confused, I just found this logo on the CBS website promoting MacGyver in the fall schedule.

Don't get me wrong... I'm loving it !

But does this mean that the other logo font has now been discarded?

I like the new logo, too - especially because the Swiss Army Knife still seems to play an important role

Well, if they do discard the old logo, I wouldn't mind to have some of those old director's chairs and baseball caps they spent quite some money for shooting the pilot...

I guess that will be the final logo. And it's very cool indeed!

I'm really curious what they're going to show us today, because...

Now we already have stills and logos, so what's left if they're reshooting the pilot?

Also, now that they're really starting in Fall they will be VERY BUSY the next months...

Assuming it takes two weeks to script/film/edit/ score etc an episode we have all of June July and August for Macgyver to film for the fall part of the season and then pick up again in November to film for the spring 2017 epsiodes largely I am not too worried about this (heck to cut costs/time we may have a few episodes that borrow from the original series like Phonex under fire which wouldn't nesscarily be bad)

Like I said if CBS had any doubts they would of put it mid season so they must have faith and there forth after seeing all this I have the same amount faith

Writing on this series would have started back in Feb / March.

CBS would have been on the ball, and known this was going to series. Lenkov would oversee and make the necessary amendment and advise on any changes to the writing team.

I suspect they will start filming shortly and be finished series filming by September, just before or around the time the first episode goes to air.

All post-production work on the remaining episodes can be done, while other eps are airing. That is general practice in Ireland anyway.

This is a very strong and powerful message, and states how much faith and commitment CBS have in this franchise.

“Our development strategy was really focusing on comedy and big stars,” CBS’ new entertainment president Glenn Geller told reporters at a press breakfast today.

As for drama, Geller said CBS will stick with what they do best: “Big procedurals, strong procedurals with a distinct character at the center of it.”

Geller continued, "The network has a big property on its slate in MacGyver,” which will kick off Friday nights at 8 p.m. “When you have an IP like ‘MacGyver,’ you want to put it on the air,” Geller said. “We wanted this on television.”

By the way, do we already know how many episode the first season will get?

H.50 had a 24 episode run in it's first season.

But some shows now have a reduced run of 10 or 12 episodes.

Personally, I would prefer a shorter run (with bigger budgets and better stories), than a longer run (with smaller budgets and weaker stories).

However due to Lucas Till scheduling commitments, they may choose to split the season. This is quite common nowadays, and was done with CSI.

Now that the reboot was officially picked up, I really hope the no-posts-on-social-media-order is done with. I really hope we get to see some stuff during the process... and not just when the reshoots are already done.

Honestly while I am annoyed at a lot of the negative reaction (casino royale didn't have this much problems it feels) but I am also hoping for more interviews with Lucas Till where he discusses the original in flying favorite episodes seasons etc.

The exec producer told World Screen Newsflash that the main character of Angus MacGyver (played by Lucas Till) would be reconstructed as “more of an adult, losing the long stringy hair and looking a little more like his dad [in the original].” There’ll also be a lot of MacGyverisms in the script. Alongside the bromance between him and co-star George Eads, there will also be a love interest for Angus that spans the season and involves “betrayal and eventual reconnection,” Lenkov said. That female role has yet to be cast.

This sounds a lot more better to me. It's good that they listen to fans and their suggestions.

What's that mean? Is RDA now suddenly this MacGyver's father? Is this now MacGyver's son?

If anyone was wondering why CBS picked up MacGyver to series with no pilot (the current one is being discarded) and no cast beyond the two leads, the reaction from international buyers should provide the answer. A 20-minute cutdown of the original pilot screened by CBS Studios International has been well received based an appetite for procedurals and the popularity of the title.

I hope the original pilot gets released as a bonus feature. After going a little off the wall (one of my favorite season 6 episodes) saner minds prevailed and made me realize this almost definitly still a reboot and not a sequel which I am all for. Like I said either way it's a new Macgyver tv show as long as it's good I will be happy:)

The time-line of the official CBS Macgyver-Account on Twitter is empty.

Did they really delete all their former tweets? Sure, they weren't many, but... did they really erase the announcement of the teaser Trailer because it's not Happening now? Erasing all complaints and rantings and other comments?

How professional... not.

I just checked their FB account; they deleted everything besides the logo and the Header.

Well this is scary... Does this mean it's not happening. If this doesn't happen I swear....

Nah. If that was the case, they would have deleted the account itself, no? But they only deleted everything related to the first promo (stills and Trailer). Which only confirms None of the material will be used again.

They reeled in 18'000 likes on Facebook with the Trailer and then they just delete the old promo, and all its relating comments but get to keep the fans?

Yes, they were waiting for some backlash but were probably surprised just how strong it was. Yet they could have lied - pretending it was just a teaser Trailer for potential buyers which was never intended for the public and leaked by someone else. Or they could have sweet-talked to the fans (we listened to you guys and took your comments to our hearts and make everything better, because we want to do everything right and make you happy because your opinions are very important to us).

Instead, they just delete everything and pretend that Pilot and its promo never happened... I hope for CBS this doesn't backfire.

Well, I don't know about that, but as a psychologist who worked with psychotic patients, I really don't advise to smoke it anyway... not even when you're working for CBS

That's how I take it, yes. Why else would they make it disappear?

On the other Hand, it's maybe not to worst thing to start completely new instead of somehow "macgyvering" the old material together and then somehow trying to explain all the changes (oh, MacGyver just got a new haircut and he decided not to join that Team that former cast member Michelle Krusiec tried to assemble etc.)...

Drastic changes from Pilot to first Episode worked quite well on the original, but I guess nowadays its easier to start completely fresh. I wonder though how many People got fired due to unexpected expenses on a campaign for a Pilot that's not going to happen... I hope it doesn't matter for the reboot's Budget.

Maybe they figured: if they can't be happy about it they can just forget it. But maybe it's indeed, let's just erase it and start all over.
