QUOTE (DashboardOnFire @ 15 May 2019 - 09:24 AM) | Bad news from the Upfronts: The Reboot was shoved to mid-season and won't air in the Fall. Its time-slot will be taken over by "Hawaii Five-0"; "Magnum PI" taking over the old timeslot of H50: https://tvline.com/2019/05/15/cbs-fall-line...-young-sheldon/
There's no info yet if the loss of the "Fall Show Status" has an impact on the number of episodes ordered or on the filming schedule. |
I think it'd almost have to be a 13-episode season with that late of a start...which begs the question, don't you need 88 (which a full season would get them) for syndication?

CBS sure wants to try to get it to syndication; why else would they have renewed it otherwise? A 22-episode-order to reach the required 88 episodes this season would have been the logical thing to do. After all, you never know if they have still room on the schedule next year or if one of the actors decides to quit. But you're right, with the Reboot being benched, a full season order is a bit of a gamble. It's possible a rookie show does so bad it gets pulled after a few episodes. Then the Reboot could step in to fill the slot; starting already in October or November and air all episodes into June or July. But that doesn't happen very often, and they usually just do reruns of other shows in such cases. If it all works out as planned, they would sit on like 9 or 10 more episodes with no slot. Of course, 22 episodes doesn't mean they have to air them all this season. They could air half of it now and air the rest next season; but I don't think I've ever heard about this being an option. I'm also puzzled about the filming schedule since I don't know if the episode number and production dates are part of the contract. But when the actors signed on for a new season, they had planned with filming from July to March. They probably already cleared the schedule for this and might have dropped other projects. The stage location is available, so they still could start filming in July. Problem is, what if they only get half a season ordered and later decide to film some more? The actors might already be busy doing other stuff... not willing to wait on CBS to decide the fate of the show too soon. I'm a bit worried this season will be a bit of another mess cast-wise... and the show even loose another one of the main cast
