When Kelly gets shot in the cocaine deal we see some blood in the center of his chest as the shot fades to black for commercial break.

When the scene fades back from black he has a lot more blood all over his chest.

When MacGyver fires the camera flash he uses a battery from a flashlight. The voltage for such a battery is probably around 12v.
A camera flash needs a couple of thousand volt to flash.

So what normally powers them?

My camera flash runs off a couple of AA batteries.

When Mac grabs Joanne in the stables there's a straw of hay in her hair in one shot, it's gone in the next.

Flood lights like those are electric powered, not battery but they will actually flash with no more than a static shock. I know this from experience as a professional photographer. I just walked across the carpet in the studio and touched the light stand to adjust the direction and the d*** thing went off right in my face.
