I've just spotted this thread. I've had a roll of Gorilla tape for some time, it's good that it's black when you want to mend a black object. My duct tape is the usual grey. It seems really strong and is self supporting as a surface esp. when stuck to itself back to back as it were. I get it out when we need something really strong - I know I mended the hole in an old water butt with it when we wanted to re-purpose it, but I can't think of what else I've done with it - but it's always worked when I've needed it. Falls into my category of 'Good stuff'.

Ape tape is the best! I have 3 rolls of it at home, Thick black roll, clear & camo.

Love it. Most of it though has been used to fix my sons broken toys! biggrin.gif

Ive used it for a broken dustbin, MacGyvered my broken belt. biggrin.gif

My son has been trying to learn on my 40 year old guitar and it's old pvc bag was getting a bit worse for wear. A big tear in the fabric and the handles nearly completely parted on both ends - one totally off. I deployed the gorilla tape on the job, it will be interesting to see how it lasts as a repair. Pity the bag was dark red and the tape black though.

Honestly Maclover, probably will outlive all of us! I've used it for all kinds of fixes and creations, and it just keeps going on! thumbsup.gif

Apparently the Gorilla Glue is every bit as good as their tape product. I just bought some to secure foam board insulation around the foundation of the garage, so I won't be able to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down til spring.

However, the hardware store people are telling me that it is flying off the shelves with contractors leading the purchasing charge. So .... if they are using it as there 'go to adhesive" .... then that should tell you all you really need to know .... because there are dozens of brands of this kind of goop on the shelves these days and to choose from.

So, if you have a glue job in your near future ..... you might want to check out the gorilla! But do read the fine print first and to see that it is well suited for your specific job task.

The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man's determination.

Whether you think you can or you can't .... you're probably right!

I've had the same experience with it. It really adheres! My son picked up a roll of T Rex tape that does a fantastic job, too!

I haven't used actual "Gorilla Tape" yet, but people have been using duct tape and 100 mile per hour tape for a very long time to do everything. I always have some around the house, in the truck and at the shop.

I have heard story of a drunk coming to, duct taped to the side of a outhouse, after a wild night at a weekend music festival. Of course you should believe everything you hear.

Duct tape is like The Force, it has a light side and a dark side and it binds the universe together.

I use it all the time. It's a great tool, and we have to thank Mac for showing us the true force of duct tape.

this gorilla tape seems to be very good, although a bit expensive, no?

I was using my gorilla tape yesterday to fashion an old plastic dustbin into a water-tight place to put the extension leads for the outdoor christmas lights into. The gorilla tape has blocked some old holes and fastened the lid shut to stop it blowing off.

Is it just me or are they selling their products for more now? Sheesh, wanted to get another roll of clear Gorilla tape and it cost around $20!

denizen - I completely agree - I bought a new roll of plain black the other day and was astonished when it was nearly £6 and that was from a market stall. I don't recall paying that much for my first roll.

Yup. Price has definitely gone up. It's good stuff but at the end of the day you have to ask yourself if its really worth the cost.
