How a cheesy action hero became the role model for a new generation of American men (using only a paperclip!)

Thought this was a fun read: https://features.wearemel.com/macgyver-inve...de59#.eq5j6fbap

There are also many videos of original MacGyver Scenes in it.

It's very interesting. I hadn't thought about the class aspect before, or the connection with Columbo (another chap who wasn't that keen on his first name, although I think it was Philip/Phillip). And yet I feel it is missing something.

It's fun how many articles, pictures and memes, fan videos of and about Original MacGyver are popping up right now in wake of the reboot!

It's fun how many articles, pictures and memes, fan videos of and about Original MacGyver are popping up right now in wake of the reboot!

I hope the reboot brings more interest in the original. The weird thing is that I had the opportunity to become a fan any time between 1985 and 2016. But I wasn't really interested in 1985-92, although I saw a few episodes. I remember the trailer said something about "solving problems without guns or violence" and thinking that was technically inaccurate on the 2nd count as there was a loooooot of punching. Not that I disapproved.

And then I didn't think about Mac at all unless Patty or Selma mentioned him in "The Simpsons". Which happened a lot, when they were in an episode, but P and S have to share screen time with a lot of other characters so it's not like Mac got mentioned that often.

Then I just started watching the series again because it was on before or after something else. And slowly I realised that the lack of guns wasn't just a random gimmick. And here I am now, on this site, now, not before, but nothing to do with the reboot.
