It's hard to say if it is beer, by the label. I thought it a safe assumption that it was, because of one of Mac's lines:

"I sent you to the store for a few necessities, and you come back with chips and beer instead of talcum powder and diapers."

I figured that this line was a set up for the chain-reaction accident. I figured it was Jack's because:
1. Mac doesn't drink alcohol (unless he's trying to open sound-sensitive lock), and
2. I don't think Mac would leave an open bottle next to his computer.

I've never made that connection.

I always thought it was some kind of cleaning liquid.

But your theory does make sense.

Random recollection- MacGyver orders milk at the saloon in "Serenity" (though this was in a dream, so I don't know if we count that - though I'm sure it's a safe bet MacGyver drinks milk in reality as well)

He certainly likes milk with big enormous roast lamb sandwiches! (Slow Death, S1)
