Yuri Demetri Yuri is a Russian immigrant who first met MacGyver when he helped free political prisoners being held in a Russian mental institution. MacGyver later helped Yuri escape from a Siberian prison to seek asylum in the U.S.

Yuri is sort of a character that you want to say "Whatever happened to..?" Did he and Penny date? Did he keep the name Biff? Did he become an American citizen?
Did he keep in touch with Mac and Pete? Where was his dad, New York? Quite a first week in America--what did he think?

This character has me somewhat confused.

In Soft touch neither MacGyver or Yuri seem to know each other.

Yuri basically says "Your MacGyver?" and Mac responds "yeah, your Yuri Demetri?"

So is this suppose to be the same Yuri from Prisoner of Conscience? or a different character with the same name?

I don't think that the man from 'Prisoner of Conscious' and the man from 'Soft Touch' were supposed to be the same character. I don't know why they didn't just make the connection that he was the same... all they would have had to do was have him recognize MacGyver when he arrived to help him escape from that Siberian plant. It would have been simplicity itself.

I wished they would have explored his character more in the series. He disappeared from Mac's life after escaping to America from Siberia.

I agree. They should have used him in another episode.

I always liked his Yuri Demetri, there is something endearing about him and his bumbling ways. I think Mac would have go crazy to have him around all the time. He was like the male version of Penny.
