Here is one and from high above via aerial drone. Each year ice fishing communities spring up along the frozen lakes & rivers in the more northern climates. The ice can become up to a meter thick and becomes strong enough to support ice fishing shelters, people and trucks as well. Skating, iceboating, snowkiting, snowshoeing, of course hockey is also played out on these seasonal, frozen waterways. ]

Here's another with a subject that's a bit unusual for many to see. A covered bridge. At one point there were over 300 of these structures throughout the province, and now only about 60 remain. Of course they were built in a time when horse & carriage was still commonplace on the roads and the motorized vehicle was just in it's infancy. With the massive transport beasts that travel the roads today, they are just not that practical anymore and are kept up mostly for tourism and aesthetic value. You can see similar structures in the film, "The Bridges of Madison County'. Incidentally, the were more commonly know as 'kissing bridges' back in the day .... mainly because young men would train their horses to stop just about smack, dab in the middle of the bridge and in so that they could still a kiss from their girl and in total privacy. An early macgyverism perhaps?

Snow/Santa Claus comes in winter, flowers/taxes in spring, fruit & road construction in summer, leaves/Halloween in autumn. Four very, very distinct seasons. Thing is that the snow/ice will soften/shred the leaf blanket and then the first lawn mow of the spring nicely mulches it all up, and presto no leaves! Yet, I've had neighbors who literally wait by the window and watch for leaves to fall and then run out with a rake and bag to scoop them up or pay hundreds for a service to do the same. Yup, lots of leaves ....

LOL! Yes, we did own a rake... more than one actually. Dad and I just never did much yard work. Usually he did what you did... waiting until after winter, than mowed it all when it wasn't so muddy. Fall is actually my favorite season because it's not really hot or cold. It's just right for doing activities. Usually our Bourbon Festival is in September, and the Arts and Crafts Fair is in October, which we had lovely weather for those last year. It was FUN! I'll have to head down to Bernheim this Fall and get some pictures.
