Hey, just wondering if any of you out there have used a potato powered clock.

I thought it was neat and was happy to see MacGyver using one on the episode "Out in the Cold".
You've probably done it science class, though, right?

I tried it with a calculator. It works fine but the numbers fade from time-to-time. I think that depends on how many volts it requires to run the thing you connected the potato to. A potato is usually enough to run a 1 volt calculator. Sometimes it requires more than one though.

My science teacher is kinda low on MacGyverisms. She did say he was a very good scientist and she'd mention him in class, but she never did...

I think you just need a lot more potatoes to get a bigger clock/appliance running.

Even this guy needs half dozen potatoes to light a small LED

Yup

I remember this. It is quite fascinating to know that everything you need is all around. All you have to do sometimes is just look around like Mac and use what is surrounding you.
