Whats your favorite tag line from the DVD box sets, and why?

I actually have 2... Season 2 "His mind is the ultimate weapon" and season 5 "The right man when things go wrong"

I think I would say season 2 would be my favorite one though... for me it really encompasses the whole idea of out-thinking the bad guys, brains over brawn, which is really the whole reason for MacGyverisms, to show that thinking is the most powerful tool anyone has.

I also like "The right man when things go wrong" because it refers to how MacGyver was "the goto guy" when the odds are stacked against you, and the situation is bleak, MacGyvers the man you want in your corner.

I did think it was interesting that the used this tag line on season 5, because it was really season 1 and 2 that pegged him as the "go to guy", particularly episodes such as the Pilot episode and Bushmasters, where he was chosen as the "last hope".

Anyway, thats my thoughts.. what to the rest of you think?

Yeah, S5's tagline does seem to fit more for S1. happy.gif

#5's my favourite. It describes MacGyver most aptly, IMO. No matter what has gone wrong--be it a thermonuclear threat or a kitten up a tree, Mac's the one to go to for help! biggrin.gif

I like S2's and S6's, but prob. S2's the best. I like how the S6 tagline calls to attention his bravery, cuz you have to be "braver than most" to do half the stuff MacGyver does! biggrin.gif

BTW, this is a very good and interesting question, Rock. smile.gif

I picked S2 for the same reason as Rock. wink.gif It goes along with my favorite tagline that was in the tv guide ads..."You don't need a weapon when you're armed with imagination." biggrin.gif

Ooo! I like that line, too, Amy! I will have to steal it! ph34r.gif

I picked season 5's tag line. It's so simple, yet it perfectly describes MacGyver. smile.gif

I voted Season 2's. Out of what Paramount put on the DVD's I think it best discribes the show. smile.gif

That being said, I don't think they put that much effort into the tag lines. sad.gif

I don’t know what to vote for. None of them seem quite right but I can’t think of anything better.

I can see where you are all coming from about the season 2 tag but I can’t help but think its something that would fit some diabolical genius who is plotting to take over the world. I know weapons can be defensive but my first thought when someone talks weapons is always attacking and destroying.

I think if I have to pick I’d maybe pick S4…or 5… unsure.gif
hmm.bmp I'll have to get back to you. laugh.gif

S5. I can relate because lately I have found myself in similar positions. I've built myself a reputation at my job for being a problem solver and creative thinker. Lately, when somebody has a problem, it usually shows up in my mailbox. My husband has been getting quite a few laughs out of it too. He's been calling me the fix it chick since January. Oh well, if you are going to be good at something, problem solving is a good place to start.

I like S1's tagline a lot, but I think I'll go with S5.
After all, that's why we love him so much wub.gif

This never occured to me before, but now that I read what you wrote, I can totally see what you mean! biggrin.gif

I have to go with seasons 2 and 4 - as they both relate to the way he manages to think and outwit his way out of intense situations. hmm.bmp

"His mind is the ultimate weapon" yeah that's the one!!

I couldn't agree more, exactly what i was thinking, took the words right out of my mouth

The first one is not true at all. He's not always prepared for adventure but in the end he comes along, liking it or not.
Two true, three also. Four yeah, five very through. Got troubles, go to Mac. Six, so and so and seven also like that.
I think seven clearly shows that he's back for one more time and he's ready.

Which is my favourite? I think I go for 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7.

I'm not sure the tag lines are meant to be applied to the whole series.

For example...

This would be true of the overall series.. but if you applied it only to season 1, it's probably fairly accurate.

So maybe these tag lines are only for the season they are on?

Posted by: MacGyverGod 12 April 2008 - 03:13 AM
Maybe. He did the most travelling in the first season so that would mean he's always prepared for adventure.

I know I'm only one who voted for Season 3, but I just think that one was brilliant and it is really catchy AND it really encompasses what Mac does. ph34r.gif

I voted for S4...I just like it. S6 is pretty good though.

Can't add anything. Agree 100%. sak.gif

Yeah that is a nice one. Maybe they should have used it...

Posted by: Beachbead 1 April 2009 - 05:55 PM
i picked S3 - "Saving the day is all in a days work"

Posted by: Liz1976 2 April 2009 - 04:15 AM
I chose S6 Braver than Most, Smarter than the Rest. biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacSAK 5 June 2009 - 07:38 AM
I'd say Season 2 "His mind is the ultimate weapon", because it's TRUTH! macsak.gif

S5! It was the choice that I picked.

Ahhhh. Yes, that was a little too subtle for my male brain tongue.gif

The first step to over comming a problem is admitting you have one. biggrin.gif

*HUGS* for Rocky happy.gif

Posted by: macsgirl1 17 June 2009 - 08:24 AM
It has nothing to do with male or female brain. I picked this because it would be nice to have someone smart around that can work well under pressure.

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 17 June 2009 - 01:40 PM
I was referring to the way you reference the tag line instead of actually quoting it like everyone else has.

It threw me for a curve ball. wink.gif

tongue.gif Having a male brain's not a problem. I've been quite happily using one all my life. smile.gif

I didn't realize that it would be mistaken. There was only one choice that was about having him around when something went wrong. By the time I went to write my reply I forgot the number and exact wording. I'm not perfect.C an't we just forget that I messed up?
