This has been an active topic through a few posts here and there so I thought of starting a dedicated topic to those game players of the world.

It can be anything you like. New and old. If you're playing it or always had fun playing it in the past, let us know! smile.gif

Well as it has been known for a while, I recently bought an Xbox & ben playing catch up on a few titles.

At this moment I am enjoying Gears of War & of all things decided to start playing the old classic StarCraft 1 again. biggrin.gif

Although....Since Jedi's mentioned Sims 4, been thinking of getting that. Hmmmm....

I just finished playing Army of Two: Devil's Cartel. It's a co-op game I was playing with my friend. We just finished it on Insane Difficulty. *phew* Not sure what my next game will be yet. Sims 4 has been my thing as of late. Get it denizen! lol

Game topic, ftw!!!

It's been a while since I've played a game. Due to circumstances it just takes longer than usual. Last games I've played were Alien Nostromo Edition, Aliens Colonial Marines and Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare. The Nostromo Edition was a great game to play during the dark winter days. Strangely I played those three games practically after each other. Normally I play a game, just for the main game storyline. Once I finished it, I don't play anything for a month or two. The mindless hours gaming I used to do as a kid are long gone. I really play a game to finish it. Alien Nostromo, Red Dead Redemption and Tomb Raider are some of the greatest games I have ever played. Next on the list are the original Tomb Raider games for PS1 (again) and the Uncharted games. I also would like to replay Heavy Rain and I still have to play their latest: Beyond Two Souls.

So in all I like adventure and survival games. I just wonder when Indy will make his return. Probably not with the rebooted Tomb Raider and succesful Uncharted games.

I'm still living in an 8/16 bit world. The more real the graphics get ... the less interested I am into entering a world that approaches the one that you are escaping from when opting to play these games. Have to admit that some of the musical compositions and scores that are being produced these days are really exceptional.

Posted by: Jediferret 6 June 2015 - 08:56 PM
Not all gamers play games to escape the real world though. Games just give us a chance to explore worlds that would be impossible to explore in real life.

It really just depends on what floats your boat really. There are games for just about everyone. My Dad enjoyed the Myst series, which was an exploration game with highly difficult puzzles. It was also graphically beautiful with an amazing score. The game has no violence and there's no fighting in it, nor death. You only game over when you do something stupid... like trap yourself in a world with no way back.

Myst: End of Ages was the final installment and had a virtual journal that you used to keep notes. You also had this stone tablet you used to communicate with these creatures to help your progress, which was really clever. My drawings always confused the poor little buggers. XD

Red Dead Redemption is a fun game. I played Undead Nightmare as well. Zombie bears!!! lol

Posted by: denizen 7 June 2015 - 11:23 AM
I rather enjoyed the Myst games. Well, Myst & Riven. Got them pn my iPhone! thumbsup.gif

I also have a crazy addiction to Minecraft! unsure.gif

Anyone play "Pet shop story"?

Posted by: denizen 7 June 2015 - 11:48 AM
Havent heard of it. Sounds like a sim. Is it?

Posted by: Jediferret 7 June 2015 - 12:17 PM
Everyone has a crazy addiction to Minecraft. XD I remember Minecraft being one of those... relaxing kind of games... and then you fall into a pit of lava.

Riven has to be one of my all time favorites. It's sooo good.

I have never heard of Pet Shop Story though.

Posted by: Elizabeth MacGyver 7 June 2015 - 02:33 PM
Well I don't know if you would call it a video game. You build a pet shop. smile.gif

They're still making Red Dead games? O_o The first one was terrible compared to Gun, which came out about the same time. Was so hoping for more Gun games, but alas, many years have now past.

Currently playing the Game of Life. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. tongue.gif

How can you say that? ohmy.gif tongue.gif

It's one of the best games I ever played. They're a little vague on possible sequels. There is a small chance though and Undead Nightmare was actually made for that year's Halloween. It's way shorter than the actual Red Dead Redemption. It's a nice game.

OT: I used to play Unreal Tournament as a kid and I was very addicted at the time. Now it has been a while but I think it's still is a cool game.

I recently got Mass Effect from a friend and will be trying it out on the weekend.

If I have time, I have get my head back into StarCraft too! happy_dance.gif

Oh cool! You'll have to let me know what you think of it. happy.gif

Gears of War still treating ya good?

Posted by: denizen 12 June 2015 - 05:46 AM
Will do. Haven't had much time to play it but its great so far.

Posted by: Jediferret 13 June 2015 - 06:18 AM
If you like horror games, Dead Space is a good one. It's kinda like Aliens meets Silent Hill. It's one of those games I'd rather watch someone else play it, then play it myself. XD

Posted by: denizen 16 June 2015 - 10:35 PM
Just received my copy of Tomb Raider (The last one released) so I will be giving it a try this week sometime. (As soon as I get a chance. blush.gif )

Posted by: Jediferret 17 June 2015 - 06:38 AM
Has anyone been watching E3? I've seen some of it. A lot of exciting games coming out! I'm personally looking forward to Mass Effect Andromeda and Fallout 4. Anything anyone is excited for?

Hope you enjoy Tomb Raider denizen! I thought it was a blast!

Posted by: wesD 17 June 2015 - 03:31 PM
I've been watching it, I'm excited for Doom, and I'm excited about the Xbox one/360 backwards compatibility. It's about time!

Posted by: denizen 18 June 2015 - 05:56 AM
I saw the trailer to the new Final Fantasy 7 reboot. Wow!

Posted by: Jediferret 18 June 2015 - 06:10 AM
I'm still checking out all the new trailers. Doom is one I haven't seen yet. I know my one friend is super excited about it, as she's a BIG Doom fan. She also was happy to hear about the backwards comparability. Most of my games are for the Xbox360, so that pretty much sold me on the Xbox One. I have friends on the PS4, who have been bugging me to get it.

Yesterday was my birthday, so my friends and I have a tradition to play Rainbow 6: Vegas 2. We did that last night, and it was funny how bad we were at it. XD

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEDI!!!

Posted by: denizen 18 June 2015 - 10:17 PM
Im sure it was! biggrin.gif

Oh and by the way, tried out Tomb Raider last night. Holy crap! It was freaky. More like a horror/survival game than an old retro style adventure.

Looks fantastic, I have to admit. Still, I don't quite feel that magic of the original 3. I know. I'm a sad rotten potato. biggrin.gif

Here is the trailer to the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake. happy_dance.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 24 June 2015 - 02:42 AM
Though I didn't like Jurassic World, I sure want this game.

Posted by: denizen 24 June 2015 - 02:53 AM
That looks fantastic! biggrin.gif Want that game too!

Surprised you did not like the movie. It obviously was not the original, we all know that. But it was better in a lot of ways to the sequels. And it felt fresh.

Posted by: Jediferret 24 June 2015 - 07:07 AM
One of my friends is always trying to get me to play Final Fantasy with him. I've never played any of the Final Fantasy games. I wouldn't know where to start! But they always look fantastic.

I'm in so much love with the trailer... Johnny Cash for the WIN!

I always loved games where you have a K9 buddy. Dragon Age: Origins had a dog you could have in your party. Mine's name was Angus! lol

I think it's going to be a good year for video games! smile.gif

Posted by: denizen 24 June 2015 - 09:08 AM
Wow! Both of those look great, Jedi! thumbsup.gif

Great thing about Final Fantasy is you can start anywhere you like. Each one is a new story with new characters.

Final fantasy 7 was the most commercially successful one of them all. Its story was awesome too. So the new one is going t be superb methinks

It doesn't happen a lot that I'm disappointed with these movies but it's just poorly made. Could've been much better and seriously a hybrid? Using a dinosaur that never existed to lure visitors? Gimme a break. It shows the park creators are in it for the money, which has always been the case but do they really have to go creating dinosaurs that never existed? That's like going past the park's purposes. Nope, didn't do it for me.

Maybe the game can change it, but I have never seen a movie with so many clear faults and mistakes. So I don't know. But the game seems fun though.

Posted by: denizen 24 June 2015 - 10:09 PM
Perhaps that might be revealing a bit much on the spoiler side to fans that have yet to see the picture BUT...hybrids are more of a realistic approach than you might think.

This from Jack Horner

The terrifying monster isn’t nearly as unsettling as what a paleontologist consultant on the films is revealing about the real science behind Jurassic World‘s dinosaur engineering. Dr. Jack Horner, who advised on all four Jurassic movies, has said that growing a hybrid species like I-Rex is actually possible in real life.
Speaking in a BBC interview, Horner said: “We don’t have dinosaur DNA, but we can make transgenic animals. The cool thing about making a hybrid is that we can take a whole bunch of genes from other kinds of animals and mix them together to make a new animal, which is actually more plausible than the original [idea of] bringing [dinosaurs] back.”

Posted by: MacGyverGod 25 June 2015 - 12:54 AM
Sorry if I spoiled something. I still think there's potential in it though but this seemed like looking at a puzzle of which the pieces has been set on all the wrong places and saying that they succeeded. In the meantime I also found about about fully feathered dinosaurs. That is also still a thought I need to get used to.

What Jack says sounds interesting though. Maybe something for the Phoenix Foundation. Their own animal mixing program. Actually we can give something back to nature and life will find his own way with it perhaps.

Never thought I would be disappointed by an adventure film like this. Still Hollywood is probably celebrating and box offices are rinkling everywhere. There's a whole lot more wrong with this but I don't want to spoil too much either.

I'll always remain true to the other three movies than.

On the other side, this game looks also very interesting, except I have never found it.

Ever wondered what would've happened if the peoples Nedry was supposed to meet entered the island that night in the first movie?

Posted by: denizen 25 June 2015 - 03:05 AM
I have Jurassic Park: The Game. Its great. If you are a fan of the original movie, I highly recommend it. It takes place at the same time as the first movie. Except that it tells the story of what is happening on the other side of the island. Inside, you already know what is happening, but what makes it frightening, is that you don't know what will happen to you. Simply because you are not following the others on their route. It was made by Telltale, the people that brought out Back to the Future: The Game & of course, the Walking Dead.

Posted by: Jediferret 25 June 2015 - 07:59 AM
I've played the Jurassic Park game as well. I was so excited about it too, until I realized it was all quick time events. I like have a bit more freedom to explore, so I was a bit disappointed with the gameplay... but, for those who don't mind it, it's a great game otherwise.

I actually really the Ghostbusters: The Video Game a bit better. If you're a Ghostbusters fan, this game is a must have. It's amazing.

Posted by: denizen 25 June 2015 - 09:41 AM
On my list, Jedi! It looks awesome! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 25 June 2015 - 11:50 AM
It's such a great game. You can even fully explore the Firehouse and interact with objects... like annoying Vigo, stuck in his painting... or collect haunted objects in game that show up at the firehouse. There's a pair of haunted pants that will follow you around.

It's actually the idea I had in my head for a MacGyver video game. I did a thread on it a LOOONG time ago if you haven't seen it.

Posted by: denizen 25 June 2015 - 10:42 PM
I vaguely recall the video game thread. Interestingly, the video game is loosely based on Dan Ackroyd's original Ghostbusters 3 script which never came to be. Pity because the story for me sounded rather interesting. But of course we know what happened with that. Cough Bill Murray Cough!

Posted by: Jediferret 26 June 2015 - 01:45 PM
A lot of fans feel this is the only true sequel because they have the original cast, and even use the original score from the first movie. This is a sequel game done right... as far as I'm concerned. You'll come to love "Rookie", you're silent, nameless player character. smile.gif

Gameplay is a LOT of fun. You'll love using the proton pack.

...now I wanna go back and play it again. XD

Posted by: denizen 27 June 2015 - 10:47 AM
Sounds great!

Posted by: Jediferret 29 June 2015 - 06:46 PM
I got a great deal on Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox Live if you Gold. It was just over $5 for a digital download. Now if only Alien Isolation and Evil Within would come down just a bit more. wink.gif Also, Gears of War 3 will be a free download from July 15th to August 1st if you have Gold.

Posted by: denizen 29 June 2015 - 09:57 PM
I have yet to join the live ranks if you know what I mean. smile.gif

But those sound like great deals.

Has anyone played, or remember, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine? I know back in the late 90's, that game was a big hit in our family. Everyone of us played it on the PC.

Posted by: denizen 1 July 2015 - 09:11 AM
Played? REMEMBER?! Just who do you think stalks these forums here?! Only like a MAJOR Indiana Jones fan. I still have the original pristine box of that game in my safe keeping. biggrin.gif

Infernal Machine was great fun except for the weird creatures you fought in the caves. What was up with that?!

That aside, story was great and i loved the twist. To those that have played it, will know what i mean!

Posted by: Jediferret 1 July 2015 - 04:24 PM
HAHA! Should have known... lol How about Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures? We got that game with our first computer when Windows 95 was released.

Posted by: denizen 1 July 2015 - 08:28 PM
Desktop Adventures was also great. Strangely my fave to this day is STILL Last Crusade. Both the Action Game & the Graphic Adventure. I Also love the arcade version of Temple of Doom. Although I enjoyed the last few Indy's, they still went in a very Tomb Raider direction. I appreciate the older ones because they went their own way. I still remember the summer of 1989 when I saw Indy 3 like 100 times at the theatre. Was my favourite movie and then the best thing happened. I got Indy 3 the game for Xmas. happy_dance.gif

Yes. Me and my childhood memories. laugh.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 2 July 2015 - 04:29 AM
LOL! I remember the Atari we had back in the 80's. In fact, I still have it. It doesn't seem to work though. I think the power cord is shot. But I remember watching my parents play Combat. My Dad was evil at that game because he would get in a hit on my Mom, causing her tank to spin. By the time it stopped spinning, he had another shot on her. My Dad would just laugh at her when she'd rage quit. XD

We didn't have any other consoles until I got the PS1 in 1999. I wanted Jedi Power Battles. I missed out on the earlier Indiana Jones games until Desktop Adventures. I believe we even had Fate of Atlantis. Wasn't it on MS-DOS? I just remember we got REALLY stuck on it.

Speaking of older games... how about Descent?

Posted by: denizen 2 July 2015 - 05:58 AM
Seen it. Never played it. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 3 July 2015 - 06:46 AM
I loved Descent. I remember it had a great soundtrack.

I miss the 90's. XD

Posted by: denizen 3 July 2015 - 09:13 AM
Yea, the 90's had some awesome games, no doubt sbout it.

Posted by: Jediferret 10 July 2015 - 05:29 AM
Heck, I miss the 80's! lol Anyone remember Circus Atari??? That game made me realize I had an evil sense of humor.

And, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this. XD The omni-blade isn't available until Mass Effect 3 though, but it's an awesome melee weapon.

Posted by: denizen 16 July 2015 - 09:51 PM
The 80's had some of the best gams for sure. Don't recall circus Atari but I remember Circus Charlie. biggrin.gif

Haven't had any time to play games of late. Been crazy!

Posted by: denizen 27 July 2015 - 09:17 PM
It has been a rather quiet few weeks on my end. Little time to play anything! I still get to have a quick game of Minecraft or even Simpsons Tapped Out when I get the chance though. Poor Xbox has been a little quiet lately. biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 28 July 2015 - 01:57 AM
I bought WWE2K14 but it's not as great as I thought it would yet. SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 was much better which I've been playing again in recent days.

I also bought Terminator Salvation on PS3 on a flea market. Never new there was a game of it though but now that I'm into Terminator thanks to the fifth movie well, I figured why not.

Posted by: Jediferret 29 July 2015 - 09:01 AM
I'm still playing Fallout: New Vegas... man that game is creepy. I've been exploring the "vaults", which were used during the nuclear fallout to contain a certain number of people. As you explore, you get to read about what happened to the people inside... sometimes it's pretty disturbing.

But I found an interesting piece of trivia! Can anyone guess who the voice actor is of this character in the original Fallout? biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 29 July 2015 - 08:19 PM
Hey Jedi,

Never played the game so I haven't heard the voice before. smile.gif

Do tell.

Posted by: Jediferret 31 July 2015 - 06:39 AM
The first time I heard the voice, I didn't recognize it either... but, it's RDA. lol

Posted by: denizen 31 July 2015 - 12:34 PM
Oh cool! How dumb of me. You even posted a video. Duh!

Posted by: denizen 30 August 2015 - 09:24 PM
Well I managed to buy 2 games on the weekend. For next to nothing too.

Mass Effect after my colleague at work borrowed me his copy. It is really starting to unfold as a cool game.
Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare - Which is kinda creepy. Especially the scene at Black water!!! surprise.gif

Then I got 2 mobile games that I am addicted to.
Horizon Chase - a great racer down the line of some great 16 bit titles. Similar to games like Outrun.
Pokémon Shuffle (Dont judge me!!!) biggrin.gif - Only available on the Japanese IOS App store but its free and in English!!! Loads of fun! You will need to create a Japanese account if you want this one.

Posted by: Jediferret 31 August 2015 - 04:35 AM
Mass Effect a pretty awesome game... especially the more you get into it. Your choices do effect future games as well. Undead Nightmare is so much fun. The zombie bears always freaked me out when I was in Tall Trees. But my favorite part of the games was hunting down the Horses of the Apocalypse. lol After getting all four, you can hunt down the Unicorn.

I finally finished Fallout New Vegas, and started over in Fallout 3. I originally quit after getting stuck. Back then I was terrible at video games, but I've gotten better over the years. I've found Fallout to be a LOT easier now.

Since I don't have a PS4, I've been binge watching a play through of Until Dawn. It's actually very well made for what it is. If I had a PS4, I'd totally get it.

AND, I just found out Capcom is remaking Resident Evil 2. I'm keeping an eye on it, for right now. The series hasn't been the same since Shinji Mikami left. Bah....

Posted by: denizen 31 August 2015 - 06:10 AM
Resident Evil 2 remake? Hmmm!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 1 September 2015 - 12:58 AM
Now I'm playing Wolfenstein. I had played Return To Castle Wolfenstein years ago but I just bought this also years ago and am playing it now for the first time. It might be an odd thing to say but I really missed killing Nazis. Or should I say I really missed WWII games? So the boss levels are a little frustrating even on normal difficulty but further I really enjoy this game.

Posted by: denizen 3 September 2015 - 08:59 PM
Wolfenstein is a classic! It was the one that started them all. I managed to get a hard drive for my Xbox so it should be arriving early next week sometime. Then I will use it to play some of the older Xbox original titles.

I have the first Buffy game that came out and I am looking forward to playing that!! I believe the backward compatibility on the Xbox 360 however is not 100% perfect. Well, not as good as the Playstation was.

Posted by: Jediferret 6 September 2015 - 11:02 AM
I played both the Buffy games. They're a LOT of fun. I'm not sure if they were ever on the PS2 or not, I don't remember. I believe I had 'em for the Xbox, but played them on the Xbox 360. That was a while ago though.

Still playing Fallout 3. Great stress relief as of late.

Posted by: denizen 6 September 2015 - 08:28 PM
Buffy - Chaos Bleeds was released on PS2 (I have that), however the first was an Xbox exclusive so I am lookin forward to playing it.

I have never played any of the Fallout games. I sure wouldn't mind giving them a chance though.

Posted by: Jediferret 14 September 2015 - 06:27 PM
I enjoyed both games. They're just fun to play... besides, it's Buffy... what's not to love!? I do believe in Chaos Bleeds you get to play as Faith as well, who was always a favorite character of mine. wink.gif You'll have to let me know how you liked it!

Fallout is a great game series for people who like urban ruin exploration. The series is a bit twisted though as you find out the things that happen in the vaults and encounter survivors like yourself... a lot of them are pretty much insane. But I really enjoyed both Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They're fun. smile.gif

Posted by: denizen 14 September 2015 - 09:25 PM
You might just have to hold your breath a little longer biggrin.gif

The hard drive I ordered was faulty so the search goes on a for a cheap one.

Posted by: Jediferret 15 September 2015 - 04:30 AM
Oh dear... is your 360 one of the original models?

I remember the older models had a lot of hardware problems. It was actually a HUGE problem, and Microsoft lost a lot of money on it because they had to extend the warranties and sent out a lot of refurbs. I went through my original Xbox and two refurbs from Microsoft until I finally broke down and bought the newer model.

It was called the Red Ring of Death. XD It plagued gamers everywhere!

Posted by: denizen 15 September 2015 - 05:02 AM
No, fortunately not! biggrin.gif

I have the latest model, E I think. But the price of hard drives are ridiculous! I saw a guys selling his old one for a reasonable price but upon receipt, the drive was faulty. So I returned it. I don't think it was related to the problem you mentioned. I suspect he was a dishonest person. I also found that the drive had been tampered with because the Microsoft sticker was torn,

Posted by: Jediferret 26 September 2015 - 02:09 PM
How's your Xbox fairing denizen?

I finally finished Fallout 3, and just recently got Alien Isolation for $15! I'm gonna give it a go later tonight. I've been watching my friend play MGSV:Phantom Pain via Twitch. I didn't know that it takes place in 1984, but you can play the game while listening to classic 80's tracks.

Watching him take out the bad guys to Rebel Yell and Gloria was very amusing...

Posted by: denizen 28 September 2015 - 12:24 AM
It's doing okay, Jedi biggrin.gif

Played some more Mass Effect on Friday night. Was fun. I am still early on the game and have just met Tali.

Would love to get Alien Isolation and Metal Gear Phantom Pain. I am quite versed in the Metal Gear story. Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are actually sequels to Metal Gear Solid 3. Chronologically Metal Gear Solid 3 is the first game in the story line. Followed by the two above. Then Metal Gear (For the NES) & Metal Gear 2 are next.

THEN its Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2 & finally Metal Gear Solid 4.

Confusing, Hey! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 28 September 2015 - 07:09 AM
LOL! I remember having to play MGS2 twice because it was so convoluted. lol I played MGS-MGS4, MG3:Snake Eater being my favorite. I love how the series just messes with your head... XD The boss battle with The End was my favorite... it's just so much fun trying to sneak up on him. XD

Mass Effect has some great characters... I love Tali and Garrus. Are you playing as Paragon or Renegade with your options? I've always play Paragon, but I've been told Renegade is more fun. lol

Posted by: denizen 28 September 2015 - 09:38 PM
Think i'm playing Paragon.

Gosh, I would love to see a MGS movie but fear if its done wrong then the whole thing is thrown out.

MGS 3 was great and has an emotional story. Cant help but pity Snake's character. I kind of enjoyed what MGS 2 did messing with your head. Especially when it starts to recognise you as the player and says you've been playing too long and you've seen enough. Gosh, that was creepy!

Unfortunately, I never played MGS 4. Never had a PS3 so I missed out.

Posted by: denizen 1 October 2015 - 08:53 PM
My shortlist of games I need to get!
Metal Gear Solid - Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid - The Phantom Pain
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Alien Isolation
Back to the Future - The Game 30th Anniversary Edition

Hopefully. HOPEFULLY before the end of the year. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 2 October 2015 - 01:39 AM
If I wanna play Rise of the Tomb Raider I'm going to have to buy PS4.
Alien Isolation is a great game, I bought that one last Christmas. One of the best games I ever played. A good one to play during the winter.

That 30th anniversary of Back To The Future is just a rerelease? I have it on PS3 though. It's a good game. An old fashioned point and click adventure really.

Right now, I'm playing Terminator Salvation. I finally get to be the great John Connor leader of the Resistance. biggrin.gif The game is actually pretty easy. I'm already in chapter 7 and it's mainly shooting machines and the bigger the weapons the better. I think this game will be finished soon.

Posted by: denizen 2 October 2015 - 03:15 AM
Yes it is. I actually had it on my iPad and finished it. Just wanted to get it for Xbox and now its getting released at an affordable price too. happy_dance.gif

Never played the Terminator Salvation game. After the movie, I was reluctant to play anything of it. biggrin.gif Just my opinion.

I want Fallout 4... REALLY bad. It comes out next month, but I still don't have a next gen console yet. I'm probably gonna go for the Xbox One, but I eventually want to get the PS4 as well.

Alien Isolation is really good. A lot creepier when you actually play it. I haven't gotten super far though...

Then... there's Dead Space... I played Dead Space all the way through, but played about 5 minutes of Dead Space 2, put my controller down and said... NOPE!

Posted by: denizen 2 October 2015 - 09:32 PM
Jedi Fallout 4 is headed for 360. You can always get that one too

Posted by: Jediferret 4 October 2015 - 08:15 AM
That I didn't know.. hmmm, I'll have to check that out. I know Microsoft is releasing a Fallout 4 themed Xbox One next month, so I'm getting a bit of a push to get it. $400... ouch... =(

OH! Just so you know, if you have Xbox Live Gold, MGS: Ground Zeros is a free download this month for the 360. smile.gif

Dead Space 2 too scary?

Posted by: Jediferret 5 October 2015 - 04:42 AM
More like uncomfortable. When I had started the game, my friends thought it would be funny to tell me about the part where you have to put a needle in your character's eye. I don't do eyes and sharp objects... no thank you. So as I'm running around in the beginning of the game, in a straight jacket with things attacking me, I was like... yeah, I'm not doing this.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 October 2015 - 07:02 AM
I'm convinced. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 5 October 2015 - 12:12 PM
I could tell some pretty funny stories about when I first started playing games... my personal favorite is how I got so creeped out playing Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, that I shut off the game and wouldn't touch it for a month. I finally finished the game when I learned I just had to run away from Nemesis. And ran I did... like a big chicken.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 October 2015 - 01:42 PM
I think the best game that gave me that feeling so far is Alien Isolation. Been out of gaming for years. It even took me a while to get into gaming years after I got PS3. But now I'm back in to stay. I like to play a game every now and than. But Isolation is the only one that gave me that terrifying feeling. They kept close to the first movie and did better than Colonial Marines. That game was like over just things started to get going for it. Isolation really gave that survival horror feeling. Forget attacking, run and hide is the message here and hold your breath if you must each time you hear your tracking device beeping. Further you're all alone in an almost completely deserted spaceship where no one can hear you scream. nasty.gif

Posted by: denizen 5 October 2015 - 08:28 PM
I still have to get Alien Isolation but its at the top of my list. Will hopefully pick it up soon if I see it on special.

Posted by: Jediferret 16 October 2015 - 05:29 AM
I need to get back to Alien Isolation. I've been kinda playing between that, Ground Zeroes and Call of Duty with friends. We don't play public matches, but play the Zombies mini-game. I also got Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light for free on Xbox Live a couple of months ago. I haven't really touched those yet.

I'm still waiting for Evil Within to come down in price. I've seen gameplay of it, but haven't been super impressed with it. I want to like it though because it's a Shinji Mikami game, and he was creator of Resident Evil... which was one of my favorite game series... well, until Shinji left Capcom. sad.gif Resident Evil has been going down the toilet ever since.

Posted by: denizen 16 October 2015 - 06:00 AM
My opinion is that the first 3 Resident Evil games were good. But from there it just kept on going far too long. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 16 October 2015 - 06:47 AM
I hope you realize that once I get on the subject of Resident Evil, I turn into a complete nerd... especially if it has to do with anything Resident Evil 3.5 related. I followed that version of the game very closely. I was very upset they scrapped it for the current game.

Did you know that Devil May Cry was actually a scrapped version of Resident Evil 4? I want to say Haunting Ground was as well, but I'm not sure. That was a creepy game... lol

Posted by: denizen 16 October 2015 - 12:16 PM
I dont mind horror games but my best experiences lay with Resident Evil 1, Silent Hill 2 & the almighty Parasite Eve 1&2.

Posted by: Jediferret 16 October 2015 - 02:35 PM
I actually never finished Silent Hill 2. I had both SH2 and SH3, but my mom made me throw them out because she felt they were too satanic. My brother-in-law is a gamer, so he let me borrow his copy of SH3. I tried Homecoming and Downpour, but didn't really care for them. I did like Shattered Memories and Origins though. I played them on the PSP.

Ah, yes... Resident Evil 1. Who didn't love that game? The dialogue was so awful, it was awesome. XD

Posted by: denizen 17 October 2015 - 05:28 AM
Dialogue was very bad indeed.

I didnt find Silent Hill 2 evil in anyway. But the ending made the game. Unexpected twist.

Didnt see it coming.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 18 October 2015 - 09:25 AM
I'm now well into Resistance: Fall of Men. I just hope to finish it soon though.

Posted by: denizen 18 October 2015 - 08:40 PM
I have never played Resistance but heard good things.

I actually had some time to play Aliens Colonial Marines and got quite far (Further than the first 5 minutes). I actually enjoyed it despite negative feedback from hard-core gamers.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 19 October 2015 - 02:41 AM
I'm comparing Resistance with a nice B-movie and a great theme song. There are some frustrating parts but not that bad, although it seems to happen more nearing the end. The game itself is pretty good and nice play and I like the concept too.

Colonial Marines was alright but very short. It's only ten levels long and like I said, when things finally get going the game's over. Isolation sure made up for all that.

Posted by: Jediferret 29 October 2015 - 02:10 PM
I have Colonial Marines, but I never finished it. I need to.

I've actually went back to Fallout New Vegas. They just had a sale on DLC's, so I got a few. I'm playing the Lonesome Road DLC... and holy hell, there are deathclaws everywhere... ;-; I have a high level, and I still get mauled by those things. I think this sums it up....

Posted by: denizen 29 October 2015 - 08:26 PM
Holy Cow! That thing looks freaky. Kinda reminds me of those beasts from the first Ghostbusters. biggrin.gif

A local online store here has both Metal Gear Solid - Ground Zeroes & Alien Isolation on sale. Thinking about getting both BUT I have also heard that Isolation is getting a Game of the Year release. So what do I do? Wait for that or settle for the original release? Hmmmm....

Posted by: Jediferret 29 October 2015 - 11:45 PM
There's always a gamble when there's a re-release. The Game of the Year may end up being a good deal, especially if they have any DLC attached to it. It just depends on the price. I already have the game and the DLC, so I won't need the game of the year edition. I just read there may be a sequel! Sweeet...

I made a mistake once of walking into a cave in New Vegas, and there were five of those jerks at the entrance. Guess how long I lived...

Posted by: denizen 30 October 2015 - 12:49 AM
About 2 seconds? biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 30 October 2015 - 02:05 AM
I finished Back To The Future The Game from Telltales. Old school fun.

Now I'm playing L.A. Noire. The controls needed some getting used to but I'm getting better. The interviews and interrogations are fun to do and you get to search houses, do chases, gunfights, fistfights, respond to incoming complains. It's all neatly done and it's set in my favorite era, the 1940's. But with this kind of game it's quite easy to lose track of time and before you know it, you lost hours but that's just the game. I had the same thing with Red Dead Redemption. Besides it's from Rockstar Games as well.

Posted by: denizen 30 October 2015 - 03:10 AM
L.A. Noire is a great looking game Never played it though. Red Dead is okay. I must admit that it doesn't quite have the same appeal for me than it does for many others, but hey, we're all different that way.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 30 October 2015 - 04:09 PM
Well Red Dead and L.A. Noire are alike and I assume GTA is the same. L.A. Noire is rather episodic. You have to solve several different cases and move up in the ranks of the police force. I started out as patrolman in uniform, than I made promotion after a succesful interrogation, than I became Traffic officer and right now I made promotion into homicide. Red Dead follows a red line througout the game and you get to do all sort of minigames in between, help peoples out. In L.A. Noire this means responding to incoming complaints through the radio in your car. You also have the same gps system as in Red Dead and bad guys are shown with the same red dots, so it's all pretty familiar.

If Mac is a console player I'm sure he would have Red Dead Redemption. It's a western game after all. biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 31 October 2015 - 11:46 AM
Well i visited my local second store today & bought Doom 3 for Xbox.

Never played 3 before so looking forward to it.

Posted by: Jediferret 1 November 2015 - 05:53 AM
I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption. I sometimes fired it up just to run around on my horse. I even have a cabin in Tall Trees. Dang bears...

I've played a little bit of Doom 3, but that was a long time ago. I was actually playing a bunch of other games at the time, including Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4 is still one of my favorite games. God that game was so good....

Posted by: denizen 1 November 2015 - 11:00 AM
Managed to play Doom 3 and its cool. The edition i have came with all the added levels and Doom 1 & 2.

So needless to say became a little nostalgic. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 3 November 2015 - 10:25 AM
My friends and I have been playing Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 together. It's an older-ish game, but it's fun to play. Though if you've been playing something like Call of Duty, Vegas 2 can be a difficult reminder to check your corners. =P

Posted by: denizen 3 November 2015 - 08:09 PM
Never played any of those titles but have always wanted to get into them Not sure where to start though. Call of Duty and which one.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 November 2015 - 01:32 AM
I kind of hit a low on L.A. Noire. I'm wrong with lots of questions during questioning, it's becoming sad. I'm actually playing really bad. Not that it matters though, the cases are solved. But when I finish one, I mostly get 'unbecoming' in the final conclusion. You got to pay attention and sometimes there is a lot of evidence to choose from. But in the last three cases it's becoming really bad. Not to mention all the damage I cause in the city of my bad driving. It makes me feel I would be a bad cop and I always wanted to be an LAPD cop flashing my badge saying: 'LAPD, ma'am/sir.' tongue.gif

It's only a game, right? Maybe I'll do a speedrun afterwards with all the right answers. Just to see the difference. tongue.gif

I still like the game very much though. Sometimes I kinda wished I live in the 40's.

Posted by: denizen 4 November 2015 - 05:37 AM
I don't know about that. As appealing as the era may be, the 40's was filled with war, poverty and limited resources to medical skills. It was only in the 40's that antibiotics were introduced.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 November 2015 - 08:29 AM
I think it has the same appeal to me as the Wild West has to others, perhaps. To us it's just stories and perhaps we tend to idealise it with movies like The Notebook. Yes there was a lot of war and poverty (when isn't there?), especially in Europe. I don't know exactly either why I'm so attracted to the 40's. The war for one thing. I really like to read and think about it how lucky we actually were or even still are. It could've ended very differently. I think peoples itself were also quite different than then they are now. Maybe also the fashions and the cars. Back than it was probably all very normal and now it may seem all very romantic if you look back to it, but that's like with everything I guess.

Posted by: denizen 4 November 2015 - 11:01 PM
I absolutely get where you are coming from. The appeal of the past was better because life was simpler. People were more humane toward their fellow neighbours. Lack of technology provided more interaction between friends and kids.

When comparing the past with the present, the past appeals more. Especially with the knowledge that you knew the war would be over by 1945 and that Germany would fall. With that said in mind, yes.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 November 2015 - 01:06 AM
In the meantime, I think I'm going to finish the game today, only one case left.

Posted by: Jediferret 5 November 2015 - 04:39 AM
Five more days until Fallout 4 comes out... and then I'll say goodbye to my social life. smile.gif

I haven't been on my Xbox as of late since Fallout comes out soon, and I don't want to burn myself out. In other news, this Saturday is N7 day, so my one friend and I will be playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer this weekend.

I have been playing a free game on my smartphone called Robot Unicorn Attack 2. It's surprisingly addictive...

As far as being in the past? I wouldn't go any further back than the 80's. The 80's was my decade. Technology was new and exciting, and there was a bright hope for the future.

Posted by: denizen 5 November 2015 - 09:42 PM
Ill be attempting more game time with Doom 3 & Aliens Colonial Marines so I can eventually finish them before moving onto other titles.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 8 November 2015 - 08:43 AM
I'm almost through L.A. Noire. Just getting the collectibles now. A lot of real stuff can be found around the landmarks, like the 4th street bridge from Lethal Weapon. But also Mac's yellow pick up truck which I'm currently driving. And also the many rooftop chases and jumps reminds me of Off The Wall. What a great game. Maybe I can look for things from the show in the game, like certain locations or something. But I haven't seen seaside or anything like that. Further more great game.

I'm in the same boat denizen. lol I have no one to play board games with, but I always lose anyway. XD

I do have Fallout Monopoly though! I'm taking it to Ohio with me as I'm meeting some of my friends out there after the holiday's. I've been bribed with food... biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 9 November 2015 - 08:21 PM
Sounds like fun, Jedi. I still have a few board games in my closet but they just sit there. Maybe in a few years we will be able to take them out again. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 10 November 2015 - 09:07 AM
My Dad was ruthless at Monopoly. SHOW NO MERCY!!!

Posted by: denizen 10 November 2015 - 08:36 PM
Monopoly has been outlawed in my house. biggrin.gif

Nobody likes it. I ask why and they just look at me. Whatever it was, it must have been bad. roller.gif

Anyone remember this? It is my favourite board game. Called Movie Maker, played this when I was a kid back in the 80's. Originally released back in the 60's became a sensation and then disappeared after Parker Games was bought out. They are still available on eBay and places but they're not cheap. I got one a few year ago. You play the role of a producer that has to make a movie. You can choose which movie to make depending on the cards you get to play with. Epic, Horror, Musical, Western etc..

Then you get location cards, actor / actress cards and if you're lucky your movie can become a hit and you get an Oscar. If not, it becomes a flop and you lose money.

Haha! I love Monopoly, but I'm terrible at it. I can't say I remember Movie Maker though. Looks like fun!

I'm hoping to get a Haunted Mansion version of Clue that Disney is selling. I never get to play Clue, and I was always a big fan of it, and the movie of course. wink.gif

I really haven't had time lately for games, but I've been watching my friend play Fallout 4 via Twitch. Watching someone else play a game like Fallout just isn't the same as playing it yourself. sad.gif

Posted by: denizen 16 November 2015 - 08:23 PM
Apparently there was a study which showed a 10% drop in traffic the day Fallout 4 was released. biggrin.gif

That's scary. What is even more scary is how they came to that conclusion.

I love the Clue movie. Have it at home. Tim Curry is great in that. biggrin.gif

I was actually playing some Gears of War on the weekend which was great fun. Its kinda cool that I missed out on all these titles and I'm only exploring them now. Its definitely the cheaper route as most titles are found in bargain bins here.

By the time I get to Xbox One or PS4, it will be sitting in bargain bins too. laugh.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 19 November 2015 - 05:40 AM
Bethesda even released a sick note for fans to use to stay home and play Fallout 4. I'm pretty sure half of my friends are playing Fallout 4 right now. I haven't heard a peep out of any of them in about a week. XD

Facebook is nothing but "Fallout 4 is awesome!" or "I found a bug in Fallout 4!". *sadface*

By the time I get around to getting an Xbox One, it'll be half off at this rate. I got bigger fish to fry though.

Posted by: denizen 19 November 2015 - 08:43 PM
laugh.gif That is hilarious!

Jedi, I might have given you incorrect info a while ago. I could swear I mentioned that they had planned a 360 release of Fallout 4. Well that is certainly not the case. Not sure where I read it because after checking this recently, there was no evidence of it.

Next week, I might be placing an order for a few games to see me through the holiday. Might end up getting Alien Isolation, Metal Gear Solid & the Back to the Future game (Even though I have already finished it on my iPad, its nice to have on console) biggrin.gif

This weekend? Well that all depends on the time I have but yes. Some more of my top 3 at the moment. biggrin.gif
Doom 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines & Gears of War. party.gif

Posted by: denizen 22 November 2015 - 09:15 PM
Managed to play some more Doom & Gears of War on the weekend but now I'm at the berserker & have no idea how to get outside without being crushed by him.

Posted by: Jediferret 28 November 2015 - 03:44 AM
I know what part you're talking about... the part where it comes around the corner and just runs you over? I went through that multiple times before I finally got through it. I actually forgot how I got past that... I'll ask my friend Kat. She knows. She knows everything.

I broke down and bought an Xbox One so I could play Fallout 4. It was a bundle, so I got that and Fallout 3 for free.

The One is stream ready, so I've been streaming on Twitch.tv. However, apparently if you're not connected to the internet, you can't log into your profile to play games. If you not online, the Xbox One is useless. I didn't find that out until last night when I went to play some more Fallout 4 and got kicked offline because of a cut wire. I was mad as a hornet.

Apparently, there is a way around it, but I haven't been able to find out how yet. I'll be talking to Kat later today to fix that.

Oh, if you wanna check out any of the gameplay, I can be found here: http://www.twitch.tv/jediferret/profile

Posted by: denizen 28 November 2015 - 10:39 AM
Thanks Jedi but I actually got it last night! biggrin.gif

I'm further in now. Hey congrats on the Xbox. Very cool indeed.

Thinking about getting Fallout 3 for mine. I think you've convinced me. biggrin.gif

I heard about the whole Xbox One Online fiasco. Sounds like a pain.

Eagerly awaiting your opinion on the Fallout games. Did you play Fallout 3? I know you were playing New Vegas.

Posted by: Jediferret 28 November 2015 - 09:22 PM
Yeah, I've played Fallout 3. New Vegas is MUCH better. But they're both fun. Fallout 4 you can actually grown crops, build houses and defenses. I spent a LOT of time just trying to learn how to do that. Took me about a half a day... mostly because I have OCD and Fallout is an OCD nightmare.

lol So far I'm loving the game though! I've got my dog companion, his name is Dog (you can't change it). He follows you around and acts cute. wink.gif

Posted by: denizen 2 December 2015 - 02:15 AM
Well my delivery has finally arrived. Received Alien: Isolation, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes & Fallout 3.

Lottsa fun to be had this weekend. Or when I get a chance! biggrin.gif

Pity I can't buy time. laugh.gif

Posted by: denizen 6 December 2015 - 08:45 PM
It's quite bad. All I have been doing is playing Doom 1&2 ever since I bought Doom 3 with the two older games included.

I have a feast of new ones and haven't even bothered to put them in. biggrin.gif

I did play a little of Fallout 3 though and it was weird taking control of the character since his birth into the world.

I am only at age 16 at the moment so haven't really played much yet.

Posted by: Jediferret 8 December 2015 - 12:58 PM
Did you notice that in Fallout 3 that Liam Neeson is your Dad. XD

I think you'll enjoy Fallout... it's got this old B-movie feel to it, but at the same time it's really creepy.

I'm still playing Fallout 4. They have a new enemy called Synths. Synths are the stuff of nightmares.

Posted by: denizen 8 December 2015 - 08:28 PM
I knew I recognized that voice!!! And yet in my head I was, "Nah!" biggrin.gif

Yea, its pretty cool. I will definitely have more time over the holidays.

Synths sound pretty creepy. Even googled them and they look pretty creepy too.

Posted by: Jediferret 13 December 2015 - 08:53 PM
I've been playing the crap out of Fallout 4... which is why you guys haven't seen me very much. See? I told you... goodbye social life! XD So, my companion of choice has been Paladin Danse, who is a tank. I just give him all the powerful weapons and he goes to town.

I found this that not long ago and had a pretty good laugh. It's a mod for Danse. XD

How are your games coming denizen?

Posted by: denizen 14 December 2015 - 03:24 AM
Very cool! biggrin.gif

Well, ive finished Doom. Again. So i guess ill be forced to start playing the newer games. laugh.gif

Posted by: denizen 18 December 2015 - 08:40 AM
Well i played some Fallout 3 last night and ive finally left the shelter but to be quite honest, dont really know how to play this infernal game very well. biggrin.gif

Dont even know how to hold weapons! laugh.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 19 December 2015 - 06:03 AM
HAHA! I didn't either. In fact, I hated Fallout 3 the first time I played it because it just frustrated me so much... especially VATS. Fallout 4 is much more improved... though, I kinda raged when I used a very powerful weapon to take out a powerful enemy with a 95% chance of hitting, and it flew passed him.

In other words, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn...

I raged so much that it cracked up my friend... there was some colorful language at that point. XD

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, Bioshock is another great franchise. It's kinda like Disney's ideology gone wrong... underwater.

Posted by: denizen 19 December 2015 - 08:16 AM
Sounds interesting. Will check it out. Thanks Jedi.

Posted by: Jediferret 26 December 2015 - 09:34 PM
Got Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare on the Xbox One from a friend. We've been playing it all day today. Had some major lag issues, but I was able to get some gameplay recorded. smile.gif The lag, we think, is that my friend who lives in Hawaii was hosting... she doesn't always have the best connection, which we've dubbed the "pineapple connection". smile.gif We have fun though! Enjoy some post-holiday plant on zombie violence. biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 27 December 2015 - 08:35 AM
Looks awesome, Jedi. biggrin.gif

Im impressed with the Xbox One's 3D rendering. I should have bought an Xbox One at the time. But it will have to wait for now.

Posted by: denizen 14 January 2016 - 08:41 PM
Sheesh, looking for a hard drive for the Xbox is harder than I thought. They just so darn expensive. Unable to play a few games as they need the installation space. And I cant go smaller than 250gb as I want to emulate Xbox (First console) games too.

Posted by: Mr Duct Tape 18 January 2016 - 10:28 AM
I have a PS3, and I don't play too much games these days, but lately I've been playing GTA V online, it can be a lot of fun.

I usually use the PS3 for blu-rays and dvd's.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 18 January 2016 - 10:53 AM
So do I, but I love the play games every once in a while too.

Posted by: denizen 18 January 2016 - 08:53 PM
I have always been a gamer. Since the very early 80's.

Terlefunken, Atari, Nintendo, Commodore, Spectrum, you name it! Then around 1991/1992 I went off them till I saw Tomb Raider on the Playstation back in 96. I fell in love and bought my own PS1. Then i got a PS2 after witnessing the awe of Metal Gear Solid 2 on a friends PS2 and everything was cool till around the time the PS3 and Xbox 360 came out. Then I went off them again! biggrin.gif This was mostly due to the cost of the consoles / games.

THEN! laugh.gif I decided to get back into it again at the beginning of last year. But they had a super special on the 360 which I couldn't resist, so instead of going PS4 / Xbox One, decided to get the 360. Games were dirt cheap in a lot of places so it was actually a bargain to get. Now, I'm playing catch-up whilst others are playing on the latest next-gen consoles. But its still a boost for me. I missed out on this so I've been having a lot of fun.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 19 January 2016 - 03:43 AM
To me it started in the early 90's. We had Hangman on the computer and a whole lots of other games on disks too like Aldo which was sort of a rip-off of Mario and Donkey Kong. Crawling up the ladders, avoid the barrels and get to the treasure. Than we had the Game Boy and the Sega Master System II with Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Later we had Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The 7th Guest, Kings Quest VII, Outlaws, Need For Speed II & III. I was hooked to Indiana Jones, you can't imagine how many times we got stuck in that game and there was no walkthrough. We even wrote our own. Than the time of the games with real actors came about: Phantasmagoria, Black Dahlia, X-Files. In those days, I never or hardly actually finished a game with exception of some like Indiana Jones, Outlaws, Need For Speed II & III and one of my alltime favourites Pink Panther Passport To Peril and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

Than in '98 Playstation 1 came along with in Tomb Raider as the most popular game in those days. It took me some getting used to and it had kinda the same problem we had with the Fate of Atlantis. You got stuck, in the end we used cheatcodes. In the meantime I finished Tomb Raider I & II multiple times. I think the biggest difference now is that you get tips during the game. Back than it was very simple: figure it out! I still never finished III, IV or V. Other games I enjoyed on PS1 was Tekken 2&3, WWF Warzone and Xena Warrior Princess.

PS2 we sort of skipped that. Just couldn't afford it and we also sorta grew out of it for a while. Than we got an Xbox about ten or twelve years ago. I only had one game on that. It was the Rocky game from 2002. That was I think the only game I ever finished in the three difficulty levels. Boy, did I enjoy that game. You could defeat Drago with Apollo or have Clubber face Apollo. Or you could play with Rocky IV against Apollo Creed of the first movie so they wore the same shorts. Afterwards my brother gave the Xbox away to our nephews. I wasn't too happy about that but he said he paid for it and did with it whatever he pleased. Than Xbox 360 came along, also on that one I had only one game on it: King Kong The Game. Also that one I enjoyed as much as the Rocky game. I think I sort of developed that... thing I have for games based on movies around than. But both Xbox as Xbox 360 had their moments they sort of crashed and had to be brought back to the store every now and than. When my brother got tired of that we bought the PS3 which now I own.

PS3 is great for it's multiple uses as dvdplayer. I have a lot more games on PS3 which I want to have played at least once. Than the idea is to sell the games that are also released on PS4 and buy PS4 maybe later this year. I actually got back into gaming regularly after I moved out of the house and I'm mostly alone. So I kinda took it as hobby. I don't game like a fanatic, sometimes there are few months in between. The last games I played were Terminator Salvation, Resistance Fall of Man, L.A. Noire (one of the best I ever played) and Game Of Thrones (also one of the best I ever played). I got to admit the gaming industry has greatly improved and I'm actually glad I got back into it and I pretty much intend to stay in it. In fact I sometimes ponder about opening some sort of bar where you could play games. Install consoles from the beginning of gaming until PS4 and maybe with some other arcade stuff, videogames, pinball machines and whatnot. That is my dream at this point, if I could ever afford it.

We had an Atari when I was a kid. I actually still have it and all the games. I don't think it works though... I believe the power cord needs to be replaced, or something like that. Kinda skipped the 90's consoles because of my parent's fear of it being a distraction since I was still in school.

We got our first computer in 1996, which started with computer games. We got games like Decent, Myst/Riven, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (which was my mother's favorite game) and SimCity.

In 1999, I got a PS1 so I could get Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles. I got into other games like Spyro the Dragon and Test Drive 6.

I worked for computer store for about a year and half, around the time the PS2 came out. My gamer co-workers talked me into getting the PS2, so I came home with one. I got into more games like Jak & Daxter and Themepark: Roller Coaster. Meanwhile on the PC, Roller Coaster Tycoon and SIMS came out.

By that time, we were all addicted to video games. I got into the online scene with mailing lists.

In 2002, my sister and I went and saw Resident Evil in theaters. We liked it so much, we rented Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. We loved it so much, we played all the other Resident Evil games. That got us into other games, such as Silent Hill (which was a recommendation), Metal Gear Solid and Devil May Cry.

My sister picked up a GameCube in 2002 (I think), which we got Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil REmake and Resident Evil 4. After Resident Evil 4 was released, I started posting on gaming forums where I met my best friend, and the rest is history. lol

Great stories guys! thumbsup.gif

I actually also uave the Atari Flashback 1&2. biggrin.gif

MacGyverGod, i finished all the Tomb Raiders. My favourite was and still is no 2. In my opinion, the first 3 were the best.
Jedi, Silent Hill 2... Need i say more! biggrin.gif

I know there are a lot of stories on Tomb Raider. Like how Last Revelation was supposed to be last one but they still squeezed Chronicles in for PS1. Right now I can play them all except for Angel Of Darkness. Legend, Anniversary and Underworld were released for PS3 and I still have a PS1. If there is one reason to keep the PS1, it's because of Tomb Raider. I've been playing them for years. Still never finished it but I really would like to keep doing it or at least play the first two, it's been years!

I have no particular favorite, but I remember like Tomb Raider III was very popular in '98. That game was ahead of everything and everyone on gameplay. She had several outfits, looked good, that game was quite something. Now on the Facebook page a lot of fans are complaining that it's not the same anymore and she's too different and blablabla... What are your thoughts on the reboots? I think Tomb Raider from 2013 was a great game, also one of the best I played. I understand to complaints on the fact Rise of the Tomb Raider was brought for Xbox One first instead of PS4. It does indeed feel like a bit of betrayal. Tomb Raider belongs to Sony Playstation. But right now I consider the reboots more as prequels since she is becoming the Tomb Raider. I just go with the flow.

In all honesty, the less you know about a character sometimes, the better. Mainly because people aren't always going to like the origin story. I despised The Last Revelation because it made no sense. Von Croy teaches Lara so he is her mentor. Right. Next he wants to kill her. Right. Next he loves her again? Wrong! The story was too confusing. His character did not stick to his profiles. Why spend an entire game on a mission to murder someone and then start up an expedition to save her?

I think they lost a bit of the audience/fans with that one and that is why they made Chronicles. Chronicles contained elements of the first 2 games which is what they were trying to show off. Even Pierre DuPont makes a return.

Angel of Darkness was terrible. Urgh! Since, I have never been able to get back into Tomb Raider. Even Anniversary. Simply because its not the same developers anymore. Its a new team with a new vision. Tomb Raider (Reboot) was frightening and much more realistic BUT here's the thing. Its not Tomb Raider. At least not the Tomb Raider I remember. I guess you got a feeling when you played the original trilogy (It was going to be a trilogy too at one point). Even Nathan McCree's classic music was fantastic. He did not try to copy Indiana Jones. He did his own thing. But it worked.

I actually get the sense most of the games nowadays are based on the movies. And even the movies got it wrong.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 January 2016 - 04:30 AM
The biggest problem now is you can read most peoples complaints on Facebook. And that's all they do, complain. It makes you wonder why they are still there. I know it's a new team with a new vision. Maybe it's because I've been out of it for so long that I really like Tomb Raider (2013) so much. And I know upon till now the guns has been replaced by bow and arrow. And actually again they revisioned her origins story. She crashed in the mountains and found out she was happy when travelling alone, than Von Croy taught her everything and in the latest game it was because of a shipwreck.

I never got very far in Last Revelations. I remember something about very big levels and getting lost all the time. I think by the time Revelations was released Crystal Dynamics or Eidos was about to go out of business.

When I play the originals it's out of nostalgia just as it is with everything else. I know there is this thing about being the lonely character far away in the mountains or deep in the jungle or deserts or a compound in the ocean and the game is mostly silent with a lion or a bear or T-Rex popping up. Just a few sounds when you find ammo or medkits and occassionally there is a short bit of music in case of action. Nathan McCree did good. I think it was more The Infernal Machine who wanted a piece of the pie and actually had one of their best games.

I was never a big fan of the movies either (but since it's Angelina tongue.gif) but that's what you get and some peoples like Paul W.S. Anderson doesn't seem to understand that making movies out of games never or rarely work just as the other way around barely works. But than I just use my imagination. However I have a lot of respect for Alien The Nostromo Edition, that is one that just worked and Back To The Future The Game. Otherwise, I think it's the thought that counts, but there are misfits of games like Fast and Furious Showdown. Rambo The Videogame was ok but not great. Terminator Salvation was fun but not that great either.

Maybe they'll find the way someday that works and in the meantime we have to keep our eyes open for games that can match Alien The Nostromo Edition.

Posted by: denizen 20 January 2016 - 05:58 AM
On the contrary it was Last Revelation that was successful. It looked and felt fantastic. I just hated the Von Croy Character contradiction. That was enough for me to hate it.

Chronicles did not sell very well but it was still given high ratings. It was the infamous Angel of Darkness that killed the franchise and Eidos lost the rights to Tomb Raider.

Crystal Dynamics bought it and released Legend, |Anniversary & Underworld. They also wanted to appeal to a bigger audience which is why they ported Tomb Raider to Xbox too. Their games were more successful but Underworld made them lose the franchise. biggrin.gif

So we're down to the third try now with Tomb Raider & Rise. And a third game in development.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 January 2016 - 07:37 AM
I think Rise of the Tomb Raider won't be released on PS4 until late this year. So yeah, I understand why fans are ticked off. Almost a year in between with the Xbox release while Lara is a Playstation character.

I'd just play for the hell of it. Good, bad, don't matter By the time Tomb Raider III was released I was 12 years old and I never had the patience to finish a game at the time so perhaps I wasn't that big of a fan back than. I know it was popular but I don't think I can make or see the difference in the character or in gameplay as some others do. Right now you can do a lot more. OK, they changed things like stealth attacks but I think they capture the sense of adventure well. Maybe indeed the tomb raiding needs some tuning and going back to underground mazes and puzzle solving.

I don't think they can complain. Lara was/is a very profitable product and she's back in the game and it's been almost 20 years now. I'm getting warm again to start playing. biggrin.gif

I'm actually not a huge Tomb Raider fan. My brother-in-law is though. I've played bits and pieces of his games when I was at his house... I was the chaperon when he was dating my sister... lol To keep me from getting bored, he'd let me play his video games... which is how I got into Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. I even played some Doom 3, which my mother wasn't too happy about. XD

Tomb Raider used to frustrate me and he'd laugh at me every time I failed, so I didn't really get into that one too much. However, I did play the Tomb Raider for the Xbox 360 and thought it was excellent. I've been wanting to get the Definitive Edition for the Xbox One, as it's like... $20. Later on, I'll probably pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm currently waiting on Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, which gets released next month. My friends and I were playing the Beta this weekend and had a lot of fun with it.

I also got a pretty good deal on Dragon Age: Inquisition for the Xbox One as well. I originally played it on the Xbox 360, but they released a Game of the Year Edition for the One, which has all the DLC's and extras... all for $40! The game was intended for the next gen consoles, but I only had the 360 at the time, and graphics were just super buggy and low quality in comparison.

KY just got snowed in, so it'll give me something to do this weekend while I wait for everything to thaw.

I think I need to move further south...

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 January 2016 - 08:29 AM
Nothing is more annoying than to be laughed at, at a frustrating point in a game. Sometimes you just also have frustrating games.

Posted by: denizen 20 January 2016 - 08:22 PM
The first Tomb Raider from the PS1 was more of a puzzle solving / exploring game. But the puzzles were smart and solvable. The second one was more action orientated and less puzzle solving. But they were more or less the same. From the third game, the puzzles got difficult and became a little frustrating. I personally battled with most of the puzzles on Tomb Raider III. But eventually managed to finish them all. It reminded me of the old school adventure.

Angel of Darkness was enough to veer me off the series indefinitely. From then, I never went back 100%. Even after Tomb Raider (2013).

Lately, I have been playing a lot of Gears of War. Got quite far into the game and I'm enjoying it. The only thing I dislike is that all the terrain is an apocalyptic city. Kinda reminds me of Fallout 3. That's another game I haven't played much. Got to a city just after I left the shelter and went into a bar. From there someone got assassinated and everyone thought it was me. Now every time I play, everyone chases me till I'm dead. Did I do something wrong? Is that part of the game?? biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 21 January 2016 - 02:38 AM
Well to be honest I think I can play Tomb Raider I & II without the walkthrough. I've been playing years on Tomb Raider III and I quite remember well where I ended. It was in London at the subway station and a timed door. I think this conversation has pretty much persuaded me into giving it another go and finish them once and for all.

Posted by: denizen 21 January 2016 - 03:49 AM
biggrin.gif Good to hear. They certainly were fun. Quite possibly some of the best games I ever played.

I will always regard Tomb Raider 1-3 as my favourite. Even at some extreme lengths accept Last Revelation & Chronicles.

Still working on the rest though. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 21 January 2016 - 06:06 AM
On Fallout 3, that almost sounds like Simms getting killed. He's the sheriff of Megaton. If you did a quest where some guy approached you to set off the bomb in the middle of Megaton, and you told Simms about it, Simms will confront the guy and he'll kill Simms if you're not quick enough. However, that alone shouldn't cause the settlers to turn on you. I'll poke my friend Kat about it since she's playing Fallout 3 right now.

In Fallout 4, I dropped a bunch of armor into a box in a settlement, and the settlers turned on me as if I was stealing. lol Fallout isn't perfect, but once you get used to it, it's a really good game.

Someone behind Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 must have been a fan of HP Lovecraft because there's two references to the Dunwich Horror and a reference to Pickman's Model. The Dunwich building in Fallout 3 is super creepy...

If you have a save point before going into Megaton, you can always go back to that and start over. I've done that several times. The trick to Fallout is to save, save, save, save, save. lol

Posted by: denizen 21 January 2016 - 09:07 PM
Another reason why I am buying a hard drive hard drive hard drive. biggrin.gif

Next week, Then I will save like there's no tomorrow.

Yea, thanks, Jedi. Any info will be useful. I cant even recall the specifics. I do remember meeting up with the sheriff when I entered Megaton and then I went to some preacher or something. laugh.gif

From there I made my way to the tavern / bar and spoke with someone upstairs. Then I think they left and they were killed. All of a sudden, I'm public enemy No 1 with a bullet between the eyes. biggrin.gif

No, I wasn't drinking. biggrin.gif I think I must have been VERY tired which is why I don't remember much. Don't forget, I can only play games when everyone is sleeping in my home. That's around 10pm-midnight. And after the day I have (Usually), I am exhausted.

Whereabouts is the Dunwich building in Fallout 3?

Posted by: denizen 24 January 2016 - 08:49 PM
With all this talk of Tomb Raider guess what I played over the weekend? biggrin.gif

Well, to be more precise, I decided to give The Last Revelation another try. Despite the conflicting story which I did not like, the game itself is very good and very well programmed. I was surprised at how well it has held up over the years. Lighting, filtering, shading and graphically and even next to no bugs. Its masterfully made and I got quite the thrill of jumping back into those tombs. I think I might just continue to finish it. Again. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 25 January 2016 - 01:45 AM
And I've been listening to the themes from the first four games the past few days. biggrin.gif

I really like actually the somewhat sad Last Revelations theme and main menu.

A moving main menu with the camera going through several levels. Back in 1999 that was quite an achievement.

Think I'm going to have see how I attach the PS1 to the tv again so I can play it. biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 25 January 2016 - 03:49 AM
The themes were quite creepy for Last Revelation. The music is a rehash of McCree's music. So they are faithful to the series. Not bad. Like I said, the only thing I didn't like was the character mix up in the story. That aside, it was still a good game.

Posted by: denizen 28 January 2016 - 09:15 PM
I will no doubt be continuing my Tomb Raider revisiting this weekend. biggrin.gif

But if I have any additional time, would like to finish Gears of War too.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 January 2016 - 04:55 AM
I've been listening the soundtracks of the games now I-III. I don't want have anything spoiled yet for Revelation yet besides it's theme.

I so feel like playing but I have other things that requieres my attention and need to be handled first. And I just want to start playing as a 'reward'. The Peruvian levels, the Greco-Roman levels, Egypt... the level with the T-Rex, the level in that pit with the huge obelisk in the middle and the doors, underground temples...

Once I get around playing, I'll place my statistics here. Think I'm also going to finish the third game first as I was doing so years ago and at the same time start all over again in the first game and than hopefully catch up to Last Revelation so that I also play the first three games again while playing Last Revelation.

Posted by: denizen 29 January 2016 - 05:25 AM
Have fun! biggrin.gif

I definitely had tons of fun. I would recommend a walkthrough to ensure you get all the secrets. That way you experience a lot more of the game with its hidden treasures so to speak.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 January 2016 - 08:09 AM
Stella's Walkthroughs are great for that. They helped me before. Or as I did for the last Tomb Raider, the video walkthroughs on YouTube. Really helped a lot to find hidden stuff in the game. Actually the last one is one of the very few I actually finished 100%. I kinda replayed the game after finishing it to find all the secrets and goods and that took me also a few days to finish.

Posted by: denizen 29 January 2016 - 12:25 PM
I agree. Love Stellas walkthroughs! thumbsup.gif

With all this talk of Tomb Raider, I just went and spend money I didn't have....... lol Thanks a lot guys.

I ended up picking up Tomb Raider Definitive Edition and Rise of the Tomb Raider the other day. I've been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider the past couple of days, and I have to say it's a beautiful game. It's a lot like the Tomb Raider before it, at least... so far.

I also picked up Dragon Age Inquisition: Game of the Year Edition. It was a good deal brand new, so... well... I won't have much of a life for a while.

Posted by: Mr Duct Tape 30 January 2016 - 08:57 AM
I'm inclined to buy PES 2016 for PS3. I read some reviews of Pes 2016 and Fifa 16 and PES seems to be the better game this year.

Well Square Enix have just launched Final Fantasy IX on mobile devices this week. And like a hungry dog, I wanted to download it. But the price is ehh... And the worst part, its currently on sale!!!! Huh?! doh.gif

At this point in time the current Rand Dollar exchange rate is sewage low so buying this latest mobile caper will have to wait a while longer.

Still, if you never played it before, IX is quite fantastic.

I've never played Final Fantasy, though I have many friends that love the series. I just never tried it. One day, maybe... lol

I had to put Rise of the Tomb Raider on hold temporarily as I'm playing co-op with my two friends in Black Ops III. Mostly to get it out of the way. The Call of Duty series isn't one of my favorites... but we all enjoy the zombies mini game attached to it, which has gotten really convoluted since it was first introduced in World at War.

My one friend and I have been playing Minecraft as well... I've expanded since I took this screenshot. XD

Posted by: MacGyverGod 12 February 2016 - 09:16 AM
I'm more in to WWII games. Call of Duty had a few of those set in WWII competing with Medal of Honor, but I don't know about this modern warfare stuff. It's just not appealing to me. WWII-genre has practically died out as well. I have Medal of Honor Airborne for PS3 and Wolfenstein. I just hope Rockstar Games would make one, someday.

Posted by: denizen 14 February 2016 - 08:35 PM
Love Minecraft myself but I have it on mobile. I have built so many fortresses in my world. Now its a matter of doing something more! But what?! biggrin.gif

I actually got a chance to play some more Gears of War this weekend. Yeee-Harrr! Now I have hitched a ride on an assault vehicle of some sort and I have to keep stopping and shining the strobe light in the sky to rid myself of those pesky night creatures!

Posted by: Jediferret 15 February 2016 - 09:29 AM
You mean the Kryll? XD Those critters are like... bat piranhas. lol What got me, if you've done it yet, is the mine cart ride with the wretches. OMG! I did that so many times with my one friend that she actually raged quit the game. She doesn't rage quit very often, but I felt so bad because I was so new to co-op gaming that I was kinda clueless as to what I was doing... most of the time.

Next time I'm on Minecraft, I'll do a Twitch video of my flat world. I even made a replica of my apartment. lol What do you normally play? Creative or Survival? Have you seen Enderman? XD

Posted by: denizen 15 February 2016 - 08:10 PM
That must be it! Kryll. And nope. Haven't been on the mine cart yet. But I have this image of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in my head right now. biggrin.gif

I play Minecraft in survival mode with restrictions. So not too many enemies. Enderman? I assume you are referring to that tall black shadowy figure. Yes I have encountered him / them too many times!

I just started Dead Island Game Of The Year Edition. I just needed something to blow off some steam. biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 18 February 2016 - 08:02 PM
Just Googled it. Looks like an interesting game.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 19 February 2016 - 04:58 AM
The game itself is alright. I'm not that far yet. You're on an island where something happened and everyone has turned into zombies. You get to choose out of five characters to play. I started as Logan one of the tourists there who seems to be immune from the outbreak. But it still all takes a little getting used to. I'm taking on all this missions but I never got a closer look yet on how to best fulfill them and they're piling up. Well, plenty to do than. It's nice but I have no full opinion yet.

Posted by: denizen 19 February 2016 - 05:23 AM
Okay cool.

Posted by: Jediferret 19 February 2016 - 08:19 AM
I've played a little bit of Dead Island. After Left 4 Dead, I kinda got tired of zombie games. I used to have a friend that LOOOVED zombie games... but he was a jerk, so I have a major distaste of zombie related stuff now. But, that's a story for another day. haha

I've actually been in the mood for Red Dead Redemption, which I just heard is next to be made compatible for the Xbox One. YES!!

And as promised, a tour of my Minecraft world. I made "most" of what's there, except for my friend's houses. My friend Michelle helped with the monorail track. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 19 February 2016 - 09:46 AM
Red Dead Redemption is a good game, but released years ago on PS3.

Posted by: Jediferret 20 February 2016 - 10:06 AM
Yeah, I've had it on the Xbox 360, along with Undead Nightmare. It's supposed to be backwards compatible soon, so I can play the 360 version on my One, which will be nice. I really want Resident Evil 4 to be next on that list, because I LOOOOVE that game so much. But, knowing Capcom, they're probably just remaster it... again.

Speaking of, I hear they're remaking Resident Evil 2... that should be interesting. They haven't had a decent Resident Evil game since Shinji Mikami left.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 comes out on Tuesday, so I'll be playing that next week. Weee!!!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 21 February 2016 - 07:29 AM
Dead Island sure is harder than I thought. The missions contains various difficulty degrees varying from very easy to very hard. The Thug zombies are very strong and often protecting the goods you need. Not everything is very clear and neither is the map to find stuff. Sure there a signs like exclamations marks or flags but it's not always very clear what is what? You might get a sidemission during the game, you can do nothing about until you reach a certain point in the main game. And I kinda miss guns to blow them away. There are weapons though like, paddles, bats, knives, hammers and I had one gun but didn't mean anything. There are also workbenches that can help you fix and upgrade weapons and even make a few of your own.

Been sick as a dog so haven't had much time to play ANYTHING! But maybe might have some time to play something on the weekend. smile.gif

Posted by: Maclover 24 February 2016 - 03:03 AM
I rarely play any computer games, unless I am in a dead boring situation waiting for something/someone - like waiting for the channel tunnel crossing at the weekend. Then I have a few that I will occupy myself with for a few minutes. Out of choice I like Diamond Blast (just for the sheer inane 'click the screen mentality' of it) or the brain test games like re-clicking the numbers on the screen in ascending order once they disappear, or remembering a pattern and repeating it in a given time. I'm not into the 'shoot 'em up' things.

Posted by: denizen 24 February 2016 - 05:55 AM
Good for you, Maclover! smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 24 February 2016 - 07:29 AM
You're either into it or not. Growing up I was pretty much in it; Game Boy, Sega Masters System II, PC games, Playstation 1. Then grew out of it and than slowly came back into it. And I'm pretty much into everything. But I mostly like adventure games, horror and war games. But I don't consider myself an hardcore gamer. Right now I'm playing my first game in two months. If I'm tired of it, I just turn it off and put it away.

Posted by: denizen 25 February 2016 - 08:11 PM
Well some good news is that I finally managed to get a hard drive for my Xbox. party.gif

Should arrive on Monday and then I can finally start on some of those other titles such as Alien Isolation & Metal Gear.

More so, I can also start playing some old Xbox (Original console) games such as the first Buffy game! Woohoo!!! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 February 2016 - 10:59 AM
I finished Dead Island but it was a little too frustrating for me. The game story wasn't that well written and the Australian accents kinda bothered me. Pity.

I also died a lot. A whole lot that I nearly threw my controller at the television. I nearly gave up when I reached the final act but decided to continue after all and was glad the game was over shortly after. Despite the good reception of the game, I'm not in favor of the game unfortunately.

Good for you, MG. biggrin.gif

Games can outright drive me insane too. I'm surprised my equipment is still intact. laugh.gif

I think I kinda underestimated the game and to what I was expecting. I just wanted something I could finish fast. Guess I just took the wrong game.

I have a lot of friends that have tried to get me in Final Fantasy... I don't think I have the strength, or the money. lol

Garden Warfare 2 has been a LOT of fun. My one friend and I have been playing it a LOT since it came out. Seriously, we've spent the past three days playing it almost non-stop... well, except for sleep, work, eating... that sort of stuff. Garden Ops is really frustrating though, we need a third player. My other friend, who normally takes that spot, is offline as she tries to relocate. She won't be around for a while. I miss her already... sad.gif

I visited your Twitch page Jedi. Saw your Minecraft video too. Very cool!

You guys don't have to avoid the Final Fantasy games like the plague. There is a reason they have made about 20 of them and its all good. The stories are fantastic and the depth is out of this world. Easily my favourites have to be 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10. The best part is that you don't even have to start at the beginning because every FF game is a new story with different characters. So even if you pick up FF 13, its all good.

The gameplay and level of open world exploration is HUGE and can easily put its rivals to shame.

Then you get the graphics. Each game puts the previous one in their coffin.

If you like fantasy, great humour, great storytelling, Anime and brilliant gameplay, try a FF game. It will surprise you.

Here is a trailer to the PS2 classic FF10.

This was an awesome game. The story, the music, the graphics, the gameplay. still stays with me after all these years.

Now I'm playing Medal of Honor Airborne. Already finished two campaigns. This is was more my kinda game I was looking for. However dying far ahead or near a new checkpoint is bad because you can start all over again as the defenses are difficult to beat. I'm playing on normal mode by the way.

Posted by: denizen 2 March 2016 - 09:24 PM
I've finally connect my console to Live since I now have the hard drive. And its been cool. I'm sure you have al been doing this for years but I'm new to this. biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 3 March 2016 - 02:24 AM
Actually not really. I never attached my PS3 to the internet. That is strictly for watching films and playing the main games. If I get to PS4 I'd probably change that.

Cool, cool! I love that the Xbox One is Twitch stream ready. I've been wanting stream game play for some time, but never had the right equipment. I usually stream when I'm by myself only because if I have friends in the party with me, it causes tons of lag.... which I have a lag problem as it is. lol

Welcome to XBL! lol Don't feel too badly, we all had to start somewhere. When I first got on XBL, I didn't know what I was doing. lol I very new to the whole online gaming scene, so I was pretty terrified. Thankfully, my friend Kat (aka Krauser) stuck it out with me and we played co-op games together. She and I have been good friends for over a decade. smile.gif

Good to know. biggrin.gif

I was quite lucky yesterday. Went to my local second hand dealer who had Fallout New Vegas & Mass Effect Limited Edition Trilogy pack with him! The condition of the box for the trilogy is atrocious but the discs seem okay. So despite owning Mass Effect 1, I managed to get 2 & 3 too. thumbsup.gif

Needless to say, there will be gaming this weekend. Not sure when. But ill make a plan!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 March 2016 - 03:46 AM
I think I'm already in the final mission of Medal of Honor Airborne. I really think it's a shame there aren't any more WWII games out there, perhaps maybe Wolfenstein for PS3. They should rerelease Medal of Honor for PS3 and 4. And I do mean the WWII games not the modern warfare stuff.

Posted by: denizen 4 March 2016 - 04:51 AM
Would love to get a WWII Medal of Honour-ish kinda game for Xbox 360. Anybody recommend one that is the best?

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 March 2016 - 02:19 PM
After another major frustrating part I grabbed the cheatcodes page went for unlimited ammo and grenaded the living hell out them Nazis. Actually it was quite hilarious to hear them scream: 'Granate!' all the time or 'Amerikanner!' Just as it was in the original games. I think in Pacific Assault: 'Grenaaaaade! Take cover!'

Now I just also bought Call of Duty World At War. I think MoH Airborne, Call of Duty World at War and Wolfenstein are your best shots.

Posted by: denizen 4 March 2016 - 03:17 PM
Great! biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 March 2016 - 04:30 PM
And started with Call of Duty: World At War. An interesting take on the game since you can play for all the major armies of the war. I'm only in the second campaign yet but I already played as an American soldier and now I'm a Russian soldier. Already met a frustrating part though. Maybe I'm just a sore loser at this time. Anyway, what I really caught my attention was that the character Roebuck was voiced by Kiefer Sutherland. I knew I recognised that raw raspy voice. I am curious though how the rest of the game goes.

Posted by: Jediferret 6 March 2016 - 11:30 AM
As far as WWII games go, I've only played World at War.

I take that back, I have played BloodRayne, but I think you can get that on regular Xbox. Even though the enemies are Nazis, I'm not sure if it really counts.

What I love about World at War is that it was the start of the Zombies mini-game, which is now a trend for Black Ops. It's pretty much the only reason I still play Call of Duty, actually.

The latest map pack for Black Ops 3 came out a couple of days ago, so my friends and I have been playing that. It's been fun! I do believe that the zombies back story and game play has gotten REALLY convoluted though.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 6 March 2016 - 02:58 PM
I'm going to finish the main game first before I take down them zombies. But I noticed though when consoles started to take over WWII games sort of died out. It's pretty much been there done that. MoH has the European and Pacific theatres as well as Call of Duty. But there mostly for PC. Wolfenstein made it pretty much through but that in the end turns out to be sci-fi. However, I played Wolfenstein before for PS3 and I didn't care it was zombies and monsters. It was still the 40's. Still I can't wait for Rockstar Games to make a WWII game.

Posted by: denizen 6 March 2016 - 08:52 PM
Ironically, the whole Nazi & zombie combination started off in Wolfenstein. From there, it spread like a virus. biggrin.gif

I never had any chance to play anything this weekend despite my ambitions. Had to help my brother in law move house, and it was a NIGHTMARE weekend filled with a million other things to do. mad.gif

I hope to have some time this week or this coming weekend to try out some of the new games. I did have 10 minutes however to test Fallout New Vegas which looks really good and install Metal Gear Solid V which looks superb! Jedi, I recommend you get your hands on it as it is a direct sequel to MGS 3 Snake Eater.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 8 March 2016 - 04:06 AM
In the meantime I finished the game already in only four days. I never finished anything that fast. Campaigns were a lot shorter maybe even a little easier than Airborne but I got to say dying by grenades is pretty crappy. Died by a lot of grenades on the same place, over and over again. The difference is this grenade indicator doesn't turn red as it does in Airborne. As long it is white it can explode without getting hurt in CoD it doesn't work like that. The chance of a slower screen and that squeaking sound you hear are a lot smaller than Airborne. It was about the only frustrating part in the game. Other than that I had more intense experience, especially with Russian gameplay. That was really in the middle of everything. I played with tanks and was a gunner in plane. And above all there was the Battle of Berlin. Attacking the Reichstag outside and inside. The graphics and the Reichstag were great and very accurate. At least it gave some impression of what was maybe the most important battle in history of mankind.

The Nazi-zombie thing was just a minor extra in the game. I can only play one level, the other levels you got to downoad them or something but I get the picture. You start in a destroyed building and need to earn as much points you can in order to open doors or to go upstairs or to buy weapons and keep going as long as possible. My best score right now were three rounds and 22 kills. But I think in the end you just have to die.

Posted by: Jediferret 8 March 2016 - 06:04 AM
It's actually much more than that... the first map is just a warm-up. There's actual lore and characters in the newer maps... and a LOT of dark humor. Der Riese is one of my favorite maps. For that one and Shi No Numa, we learned to put mines on the floor in areas we could back into if we got overwhelmed. We called it the "fortress of solitude". We had designates areas for this. The new maps also have "perk-a-colas" and hell hounds.

I've spent many late nights playing that game.... Oh, and then there's the Wunderwaffe DG-2 weapon, which is such an awesome weapon... With a party of four, we've lasted dozens of rounds.

I actually really liked New Vegas. The deathclaws are REALLY hard to kill though in that game, but it's so much fun!

The store down the road from me is selling L.A. Noire at a low price and I was actually wondering if you think I should give it a go, MacGyverGod. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 16 March 2016 - 02:53 AM
Yes, absolutely. biggrin.gif

It was one of the best games I played. If you're into that Noire/gangster stuff and like to see to L.A. of the 1940's. You really should. It plays like Red Dead Redemption. You have the main storyline but you can also play little sidequests, just listen to the dispatch while cruising through the town. I have been listening to the soundtrack recently. You won't regret it.

OT: Now I'm playing Unreal Tournament 3. I had the PC-game like ten years ago and I was hooked. And Unreal Tournament 3 follows the previous setting and lot's is the same. The main menu music for starters, the guns (slightly altered designs though and the pulse gun became the link gun and no Ripper so far). The PC-game had more variations in battle though. There was deathmatch, team deathmatch, last man standing, capture the flag, domination and I'm probably missing one. In this game though there for as far as I am are only three kinds of battle: team deathmatch, capture the flag and warfare. Which is to me new and the most difficult kind. You're on a battlefield and you have to capture nodes for you team. Once you have the majority you can kill the power core of the other team and win the match. There are also several vehicles, like tanks (goliath), power up cars, orbs with tentacles like in Edge of Tomorrow, dark walkers that sort of look like the tripods in War of the Worlds and hoverboards and many more. The game is good and as addicting as the previous installment. I played Morpheus and the Lavagiant for hours setting the amounts of frags or flag capturing at 999 hiding with a sniper killing them all over and over again. I was surprised thought that I at least saw one level in both games Hydro something it was called in capture the flag. You have like two caves and you have to run across above a goopit with bridges and bunkers to get the flag. It appeared in both games. Great game nonetheless.

Cool. Ill consider picking it up this afternoon! smile.gif

I played Unreal Tournament 1 ages ago. Never played the sequels but it was very good for its time.

In the meantime I finished UT3.

Posted by: denizen 16 March 2016 - 08:10 PM
Good for you! biggrin.gif

So I decided to pick up L.A. Noire. But by the time I got home, I had to take my son to the doctor (Again!!!) because I don't think they properly diagnosed him on Sunday and he is looking miserably ill. I'll probably only get around to playing the game maybe tomorrow if im lucky. Nut ill let you know! smile.gif

I see that they have considered doing a sequel for the game. But nothing has surfaced as yet.

Posted by: denizen 17 March 2016 - 08:10 PM
I had like 5 minutes to play L.A. Noire last night and it was pretty cool! Love the open world feel to it. Took me a minute to figure out I had to follow that arrow while I was driving. biggrin.gif
Ended up driving to the end of the city and smashing almost every car I laid my eyes on. laugh.gif
Will definitely be playing it this weekend!

Game wise, I'll be busy for a while... lol Fallout 4 is releasing DLC content every month for the next three months, including a HUGE one in May.

In the Fall, Resident Evil 4 is getting ported to the One, so I HAVE to get that.

Shortly after that, Mass Effect Andromeda is getting released sometime in early 2017, maybe as soon as January! I'm so excited about that I can't see straight!

Until then, the first Fallout 4 DLC is coming out next Tuesday! Woohoo!!

So how's it going?

Posted by: denizen 28 March 2016 - 08:21 PM
Well, let's just say that was the night indeed. Since then, haven't had any time to play anything! laugh.gif

But I managed to get my promotion. And I'm up to that. My last mission was the interrogation. That took a few tries but the irony is that I almost had it the first time. I just chose a silly question after a while which messed the whole thing up and got me exploring all other questioning routes I shouldn't have taken. biggrin.gif

But I'm enjoying it!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 March 2016 - 02:14 AM
At some point I started to get the hang of it and halfway the game I lost it again asking always the wrong questions. Sometimes it's obvious they're lying, others are harder to read. I have to admit I was wrong the first time out too with the woman, the first one you have to interrogate. I just pushed a button and I sorta insulted her. During the game I thought more than once that I would be such a bad cop. Just as I had with CoD and MoH that I would be such a bad soldier.

Anyway I planned another go with L.A. Noire because I think it's worth, perhaps in few months or years and than I'm going to play with the right answers close by just to see what it gives than.

Posted by: denizen 29 March 2016 - 02:47 AM
I was a little confused the first time I had to question the lady from the department store. But my last meet with her she slipped up by saying something like, "So wil I still get my...uh...never mind" and that just irritating me because she never brought it up again and my character never asked again!!! Grrr! biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 31 March 2016 - 08:34 PM
Okay! So i managed to get some more play time last night and on my first case as a detective, managed to stop the masked man with the hat (No, not the Shadow) laugh.gif

It was a short 40 minutes of playing but i intend on finishing more on the weekend.

I see they are also offering the Back to the Future game for download. Thinking of getting it and playing it again. Have it on iPad but i'd prefer to play it on console.

Posted by: Jediferret 1 April 2016 - 07:18 PM
I just got the new Fallout 4 DLC, Automatron. So far, it's been fun. I stream some of the gameplay, but kept getting distracted. lol More tomorrow!

I'll be doing a bit more PC gaming though... my friend, who just left, combined our Steam accounts after checking the hardware on my laptop to make sure it can handle it. Now I have Deadpool, which I'm giving a try here before going to bed.

I booted Sims 4 back up, as it has some new features. I'm gonna attempt to get back to building the MacGyver houseboat... maybe this weekend.

Posted by: denizen 3 April 2016 - 08:12 PM
Looking forward to seeing that houseboat! Would love to get the old Deadpool game for Xbox. I didn't even know they made it! After seeing the movie, i would like to kick some bad guy butt! biggrin.gif

I managed to play a little more of L.A. Noire. Really enjoyed it! Even the missus was there really intrigued and ended up assisting me in playing the missions (At least, advising where i should go etc). I now solved the case of Adrian Black in the episode, The Driver's Seat. Must say, i didn't see that coming!!!

Posted by: Jediferret 17 April 2016 - 07:42 AM
I've been playing Sims 4 a bit, redid my MacGyver sim and worked on his skill sets. I'll have to do a video soon. I got some add-ons that will help with design, but still no spiral staircase. sad.gif I'm currently working on the upstairs. The downstairs needs to be redone a little bit, but nothing too major.

My friend and I have been playing Diablo 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic a LOT, which is why you guys haven't seen me around much. lol

I haven't used my Xbox for quite some time - somehow, MacGyver and Stargate take up too much time in the evenings whistle.gif

At the moment, I'm playing SimCity BuildIt (App version)

With Junior being ill for the last 3 weeks (He's better but the medication keeps him up at night), I haven't even had time to watch TV let alone play a game. dry.gif

But I'll get to it eventually. biggrin.gif

Regarding mobile games, I did recently download Radiation Island which looks and plays like Fallout meets Minecraft.

Very cool game!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 20 April 2016 - 01:34 AM
Now I'm playing Grand Theft Auto IV. Definitely an older game. But I like that Rockstar has always maintained their gameplay style. Cruising around, the GPS system and the colored dots when you need to find someone. I have to admit though it took some getting used to, to play with an immigrant character. And I think they were more interested in putting variation in the game than in the story. The story is good and solid but not that great... yet. I've just got into my second safehouse. Though the variation is nice. You can play pool, darts and bowling. It's actually pretty much the same in Red Dead with poker, blackjack and five finger fillet. However the pool and bowling makes me wanna do it in real life. Also that you have your own e-mail account and website in-game is a nice touch. Anyway the game is good, no doubt about it. A lot of action in it and also a lot of crime. I've been stealing cars and running over pedestrians that I can't even count it anymore. Another nice touch is that in case of accidents or deaths is that the paramedics arrive. And in case of death you respawn near a hospital or when arrested near a police station. It's a good game and I will finish it no doubt and I think I'm going to be playing for the next few weeks since there are four areas and I just started in the second one.

I heard that Rockstar Games is making another Red Dead Redemption, but it's rumored to be a prequel.

I've never played GTA actually... wasn't really my type of franchise. I kinda drew the line at GTA. XD

Mostly, I played "Morrowind" (The Elder Scrolls III). But also Indiana Jones, Buffy or Fable.

Before, I had a Nintendo64 (Zelda, Mario64) and I liked to play on my then-boyfriend's playstation (Final Fantasy XI) or my sister's Nintendo SNES (Mario, SimCity, Yoshi's World) biggrin.gif

Neither have I. Most games I have actually belongs to my brother. I'm just working through them. But I do intend to buy GTAV as well but maybe on PS4. I intend to play out all PS3 games first and than by PS4 and replace all the games that are released on PS4 as well so I can sell the others. But I think if you like one Rockstar game, you like them all and I think it's mainly because they maintain their style of gameplay.

Jedi, yes I know there will be a prequel to RDR. If you have played the game you know why. But it's still quite early so I'm not sure if it's all a go yet.

I've also been eyeing out the Watchmen game. Came out a few years ago but it looks cool. And i love my fighting games!

Careful, I might go Murdoc all over you. Meuhahahahaha! evil.gif

Not all of them. But at least GTA starting from IV through the last one and than Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire. I've seen the development of GTA now and starting with IV is a good one. I think that must be one of their first if not the first game that uses their now famous gameplay. The first GTA games are really from another era.

I made good progress lately and it's getting tougher as well. There's a difficulty level in the police chases as well. Sort of like in NFS III Hot Pursuit with the lights GTA uses stars that lits up and there's a total of six stars. Now they're up to three stars and that makes it pretty difficult already. Now I'm supposed to kill someone in a building filled with gangmembers, when you killed the guy you're looking for, 'the cops are all over me, man.' If there is one negative thing I have to say about the game is that when you die during mission no matter how far you get in it, you have to start all the way over. This means stealing a car a drive all the way back to your destination, kill everybody again and hope you don't die where you died before. If a mission is split in two parts it wouldn't have hurt to have an automatic save there, like when you kill your guy that game should save it and that you only have to re-play the police chase. That's like the only bad thing I have to say now about the game.

Posted by: denizen 29 April 2016 - 03:10 AM
Well in all honesty my friend, i owe you a debt of gratitude.

Your recommendations have clearly opened my eyes to open world games. Before then, i didn't know. Returned GTA 5 but coincidentally found another & GTA 4 on the bay from the same seller for super cheap! Both in good nick too! So i have ordered them and should hopefully get them in a couple of weeks! smile.gif If theyre anything like L.A. Noire, i think ill like em! (In terms of open world games). thumbsup.gif

The first time I played Red Dead Redemption I always got lost, didn't get any of it but after a few years I decided to take my time with it to get to know it and the next thing I knew I was hooked. Yes, when you take the map and press X you can make a line from A to B and than you have to follow it. It's easy. But first I didn't like it but it's one of the best ever. And it turns out almost everything Rockstar did hits the mark.

Posted by: denizen 3 May 2016 - 02:33 AM
I originally bought Red Dead Redemption the Undead Nightmare thinking it was the actual game. Didn't enjoy it much. Only afterwards did i find a Game of the Year edition which i bought and realized the actual game was far superior. I have not yet played enough of the game. I'm still paying back my 15 dollars to Bonnie although after going on a few raids with the sheriff at Armadillo, i'd say i have a few dollars to spare. laugh.gif

I couldn't reload my save game from Gears of War. For some unknown reason, it wont pick it up. Not corrupted either. So i started playing it again from scratch although i dont really mind because I'm really enjoying it!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 3 May 2016 - 02:46 PM
I was thinking about RDR while playing GTA. Still have many fond memories but too much stuff saved in the memories. So I'm going to take more time before replaying it. RDR is much more expanded than Undead Nightmare. You have to unlock Mexico first before you can go home in the northern part of the land. But I loved to race from the heighest point to all the way down into Mexico. But I love it how they come with their fictional counterparts and how the West slowly stops to exist.

In the meantime I made great progress in GTA IV.

Getting excited for next Thursday! The big DLC for Fallout 4 comes out. smile.gif I finished Automatron over the weekend since I haven't been on the Xbox in a while... too much time on PC. lol But, I'll be streaming Far Harbor on Twitch when it comes out. teeheehee

Far Harbor looks great! Why don't you buy me an Xbox One, Jedi? Then...then i too can play Fallout 4 (Benefits). Just think about it! We can talk about how far we got in the game. We could try to compete online...All good things! rolleyes.gif

I think I'm about to finish GTA IV. Or at least I hope so. It's a choice making matter. Either work for the guy who betrayed you or work for him again in order to get the money. I died on both occassions. I almost had him last night though. But I think once I finish that the game is over and I can start gaining up on all the other stuff. Doing races or helping pedestrians and do the stuntjumps and shoot birds. I have like 46 stuntjumps more to do and to shoot 199 birds. I was just trying something and suddenly the message: you have 199 birds to go. biggrin.gif I do miss a little action music in the game though.

Posted by: denizen 12 May 2016 - 08:39 PM
And then you're moving on to GTA 5? Come on, MacGyverGod! Do it! Then when my ones finally arrive (Should be any day now), i can play it too. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 13 May 2016 - 12:51 AM
I don't know yet. I was thinking to save that for when I buy PS4 but I still have a lot of other games to play as well. The idea is to play them all and than look for the games that are also available on PS4 so I can sell their PS3 counterparts. I still have to play 14 other games. I'm still going to have my hands full with Batman, Tomb Raider (Legend, Underworld and anniversary) and Uncharted and I do mean all three their games for PS3. I think before I start on Tomb Raider I wanna play the old games again first. I'm going to have my hands full and I even want to replay a few games as well like Red Dead Redemption and Rambo The Videogame. I don't know maybe if I find it at a reasonable price.

Posted by: denizen 13 May 2016 - 01:37 AM
I heard the Rambo game was a bit of a disappointment.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 13 May 2016 - 02:19 AM
And a bit frustrating but not as bad as Fast and Furious Showdown. But indeed, the silly part was all you can do is duck and shoot and the game will hold your hand when you have the run... in other words, the game takes over and brings you to the next hiding place and than you have to shoot and duck again.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 14 May 2016 - 12:53 AM
I'm not going to buy it just yet, but I saw GTA San Andreas for only 19,99 euros. That's a very reasonable price.

Posted by: denizen 14 May 2016 - 04:46 AM
San Andreas is available for the iPhone. I have Vice City & GTA III on mine smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 15 May 2016 - 02:40 AM
And I finished it today. The last bit was a bit frustrating though but I finished it, now I just continue till I have 100% completion. These involve inside missions like drug deliveries, beating a game of pool, bowl and darts, races, shooting pigeons and stuntjumps.

Posted by: denizen 15 May 2016 - 10:51 AM
Well done MacGyverGod!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 16 May 2016 - 12:35 AM

LOL! If only I had that kind of money to spare. XD Blame it on my paycheck sucking, 7-year 'boyfriend' I call my car payment.

I can't wait for Far Harbor... I'm running out of things to do in Fallout 4. I started to fortify my settlements, seeing as one of them had about 16 settlers sharing two sleeping bags. They're happy now since I built them a house, a garden (for food), some shops and a clinic.

I'll probably stream on Friday at some point. smile.gif

Well for me it has been a rough weekend and a rougher start to the week! I am a man wondering through a city of plagues biggrin.gif (Everyone is continuously ill and i am the only one to help out)

Had to start over with Gears of War because my save game just decided to stop working. But its still fun to play again! So i played a little more on Saturday night. (Like a whole 10 minutes!!! Ooooohhh!!!)

laugh.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 17 May 2016 - 10:19 AM
Well, I'm still going to continue playing GTA IV but maybe just the action side mission I can get through the cops computer but the other stuff I don't know yet. I'm not sure if I wanna ride through Liberty City hunting 200 birds. tongue.gif

In the meantime I bought another game at a fleamarket called Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty. Churchill has been killed in 1931 and thus the allies are missing an important key player in the war. As a result the Nazis win the war by conquering London and invading the East Coast of America. The story is set in London, New York and Washington D.C. ran over by the Nazis. I don't know if the game is good though but it seems to be a challenge since there are no health packs or body armors to be found in the game. It is war after all. The concept is interesting enough though for me. Another what if situation in matters of WWII.

Had a chance to play more L.A. Noire over the weekend and Gears of War. I'm not sure if anyone recalls the old gaming books of the 80's titled Fighting Fantasy? It was Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone's take on Dungeons and Dragons. They were actually reviewers of D&D which is what prompted them to make the gaming book series of choosing your own adventure. These books were hugely popular around the 80's.

They have recently ported these onto IOS & Android and i decided to get one of the books. It is a great read for the fun factor where you can fight monsters by the role of a dice (Digital one in my case) and decide which path to choose. Most were based in a fantasy world however they did do a few that were based on other genre's like sci-fi and horror. I decided to purchase one called the House of Horrors which i vaguely recall coming out but never actually read.

There are a few of these titles available digitally and can be fun if you are into that sort of thing.

I started in Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty. I think it was interesting to see the Germans attack New York in broad daylight. The game reminds me a bit of Resistance: Fall of Man. It doesn't want to be more than it is. It's just plain and simple and easy to enjoy.

Posted by: Jediferret 25 May 2016 - 05:27 AM
I believe Gears of War 4 comes out on.... October? I think? I'm not sure if I'm gonna get it through since I'm getting Resident Evil 4 for the Xbox One. I miss that game soooo much. I think it's my most played game... and I dunno why, it just never gets old. Over three different consoles, I've played it about... 15 times, give or take.

Anyway, FAR HARBOR!!! I've been playing it a LOT. It's so much fun and there's so much to do! I did a 4-hour stream of it on Saturday, which I actually talked this time... well, sorta. I can't play and talk at the same time, for some odd reason.

So far the toughest enemy I've found in the ENTIRE game is Shipbreaker... I've fought it about five times and lost every time. I'm guessing I need to adjust my approach to the fight. XD See the critter holding up my game! >:(

Posted by: denizen 25 May 2016 - 06:01 AM
That looks FREAKY!

Posted by: denizen 26 May 2016 - 08:50 PM
Well i got my GTA 5 in the post yesterday. This time it installed! Yay!!!!

Managed to play a few minutes of it. Sheesh! It's a violent game! surprise.gif biggrin.gif

But it does look good. Will definitely try to make some time over this crazy weekend!

Posted by: MacGyverGod 27 May 2016 - 12:06 AM
I've reached a difficult point in Fall of Liberty. I'm supposed to sneak on a Zeppelin via the London bridge but I'm low on bullets. The big zeppelin is protected by two other smaller ones and one topside of the bridge is full of Germans with better guns than mine. I have a MP50 and shotgun. One of the biggest problems is that 2 guys appear from the place I came from behind me when I'm almost through and that's when I run out of bullets.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 27 May 2016 - 07:45 AM
And finished it. Rather short game, if you ask me. Also a noticeable name on the end credits. Kai Wulff did some voice work in the game. He also did one for Medal of Honor Allied Assault.

Posted by: denizen 27 May 2016 - 09:24 AM
Nice going MacGyverGod! smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 28 May 2016 - 12:23 AM
Thanks. I didn't mind more levels though. It was just New York, Washington and London. The game itself didn't fare well. It got mostly negative reviews but the creators defended themselves by saying the game was meant for casual audiences and not the hardcore gamers.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 May 2016 - 09:03 AM
Now I'm playing the original Tomb Raider on the PS1. So great to play that game again.

Posted by: denizen 29 May 2016 - 10:16 AM
Cool! Got Tomb Raider 1 & 2 on my iPhone. Was hoping for Tomb Raider 3 but rumour has it that they dont have the source codes.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 29 May 2016 - 01:52 PM
Apparently all the games with exception of Angel of Darkness are all available on PS3 throught the PS Store.

Posted by: denizen 29 May 2016 - 08:26 PM
Oh okay. I've said it before but i have always enjoyed the original 3 games. 4th was okay but i didn't like how the story unfolded in Chronicles. It contradicted everything in Last Revelation.

Nathan McCree was the original composer of Tomb Raider 1-3. I tweeted him last year to thank & complement him on his work. He responded with a thanks and to let me know to keep my eyes open for a future project he was working on. He didn't specify what it was though.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 30 May 2016 - 12:31 AM
I never really got to Last Revelation. I nearly finished Tomb Raider III years ago and I could've still proceeded from there. Only five levels or so more to go but I found out that I really have to learn to find my way again around the levels in the first game. This is just another attempt in finishing them all. But this time I will. I counted the levels of all the games through Stella's site. I came up with 490 levels. They might even pass the 500 mark. Anyway for the games I have: Tomb Raider I through Chronicles, Legend, Anniversary, Underworld and TR2013, I came up with exactly 200 levels. Anyway I hope I can fly through the first two games. I pretty much knew them inside out but like I said I really have to learn to find my way again too. I never finished TR III and I never got where I was without the walkthroughs.

As far as Chronicles is concerned, I knew the game existed out of flashbacks from old adventures while everyone thinks Lara has died but never played it. They say Angel of Darkness was the worst. They tried to finish the game way too fast, there were a lot of problems with the gameplay and the adjustments were not done properly. Even though planned as a new trilogy it never got completed.

Posted by: denizen 30 May 2016 - 01:18 AM
Yup. Angel of Darkness was pretty bad.

Chronicles plays out like the other games and it is a fun game to play, make no mistake. Even some characters from the first 3 games make a comeback. BUT. smile.gif Big but. The Werner Von Croy storyline of Chronicles contradicts Last Revelation.

In Last Revelation he is hellbent of killing her. Then upon suspicion of her death, he goes out of his way to save her?! Huh?

Posted by: MacGyverGod 30 May 2016 - 03:08 AM
There was something contradictory indeed what Von Croy was concerned. I guess I'll find out in the end. Didn't he die in Angel of Darkness? I just finished St. Francis' Folly and I gotta admit, I'm actually having a good time with this game and I do mean a good time. This is definitely not a run of the mill game. Still no walkthrough needed.

Posted by: denizen 30 May 2016 - 03:47 AM
Yes he does.

I believe you. Tomb Raider in my honest opinion is one of the greatest games ever made. 1-3. Even 4. Maybe. biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 30 May 2016 - 05:28 AM
I guess I'll have to watch Angel of Darkness on YouTube. In the meantime I'm writing down all my stats in a file. Not that it matters though but it just seemed like fun.

I was feeling all nostalgic and recalled the old classic Blood from Monolith Entertainment. Similar to Doom & Quake although more gory and a little darker, has you controlling a character named Caleb fighting through hordes of zombies and an occult group. Used to play it for hours back in the day. Came out in 1997 and was followed by the sequel The Chosen - Blood II.

There is a Doom port that exists that can mod your game to look like Blood. But I dont think you can get it for mobile devices at the moment. It was available back in the early 2000's.

Blood and it's sequel are only available on GOG & Steam.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 June 2016 - 12:02 PM
Finished Tomb Raider and have already started on Tomb Raider II.

Posted by: denizen 5 June 2016 - 08:23 PM
Wow! You are quite the player. Well, I mean that in the gaming world of course! biggrin.gif

When i last played Tomb Raider II on my smartphone, i got to Venice but haven't finished it yet.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 6 June 2016 - 01:00 AM
Just another attempt in something I have been trying for years. Finishing all Tomb Raider games at once. I never did it before. I could've continued Tomb Raider III where I left off years ago. But in the meantime, five games has joined the collection. Chronicles, Legend, Anniversary, Underworld and TR2013. I just started all over because it was such a long long time ago since I played it. Now in Tomb Raider II I'm in Bartolli's Hideout. I'm only in level 3 but I'm starting to remember how frustrating this one could be. Even though there is a lot more gunfights in it, you can only take a few bullets and your gone and healthpacks are low so far. The one advantage you do have is you can save anywhere you want and you need it. Yesterday I was at one point near the end of the level and even though my healthbar was black I was alive, killed one guy to get a detonator key but on the way you have to go through an automatically opening door but there's one guy behind it and all it took was one bullet to finish me off and I didn't had any healthpacks. And than you have no choice but to start all over. That's the frustration in this game but that's what they all have. No tips, no checkpoints, you have to figure it out yourself and be careful. This is old school.

Posted by: denizen 6 June 2016 - 02:03 AM
Tomb Raider II was always my favorite in the series. I liked the added action and the story was cool too. biggrin.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 6 June 2016 - 02:35 AM
It's like they're using silencers on their guns going *pewpewpewpewpew*. And you lose a lot of health and they can shoot you while climbing up a ledge. But yeah I heard TR II was more appreciated and the most successful from the original games.

Posted by: denizen 8 June 2016 - 09:14 PM
Well i had next to no time to play Blood last weekend but hopefully if all goes well, will be stepping into this game, so to speak this weekend!

I also downloaded Max Payne on my iPhone and look forward to trying it out. Never played Max Payne before. Seen it, but never played it.

So some of this...

I finished Far Harbor... omg, it was AWESOME!! Such an amazing DLC. I'm back to during the main story quests for Fallout 4. I've made a save file while everything is neutral, and will be doing both sides of the story line so I can get the achievements. The rumor mill is that another DLC is currently in the works, but we don't know what it's about or when we're going to get it. Soon, I hope.

I've never played Max Payne either... you'll have to let us know if it's any good.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 9 June 2016 - 10:40 AM
Max Payne was a nice game back in the day. One of the first to add bullet time.

Meanwhile I'm in level 11 in Tomb Raider II. The game is definitely larger than the first one.
