After a lot of time and effort by the current owners, the floating home used as MacGyver's home during
it's Vancouver filmed seasons (seasons 3-6) is now up for sale http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140738046722.

The auction runs until May 10 and will have professional interior and exterior photos along with a video
clip showcasing the house added over the next few days.

I think someone here should buy it, and rebuild the interior like MacGyver's home. Founding a MacGyver museum smile.gif

I would do so. But I live on the other side of the planet. Unfortunately.

My thoughts exactly.
And I swear I would have done just that if I'd had the money.
Oh well..

Yeh!!! laugh.gif

I would take a broader approach to such an idea, however...

AS well as a museum and displays, at the same time it could also be used for ~

* An official site/headquarters for MacGyver fan groups and forums like this; and a universal meeting place for those fans and devotees;

* A repository and library for everything MacGyver-ish, re: improvisation and innovation, survival strategies, basic 'hands on science demo's, environmental awareness [obviously, an onshore secure and fireproof storage and backup facility then needs to be added..];

* A classroom, and possibly research facility, for holding courses by suitably qualified people into these subject areas covered by such MacGyverisms..

NOW THEN: anybody with a spare half-million dollars floating around? No expenses spared in establishing such a "MacGyver Institute"! boxing.gif

What a splendid concept, Bushwalker! The MacGyver Institute will surely attract people from all over the world. Vancouver will have a new attraction.
So that's why I'm thinking: not an individual person, but the city of Vancouver should buy the houseboat. And we could try to direct their attention that way.

Anyone in favor say 'Aye'!

Hi all, I think it would be a great idea to remodel our home back to the original state - what a project that could be! I think there just might be enough interior and exterior series photos to make it a very do-able project.

aye that sounds like a good idea to me.

If I had the bank-roll I'd buy it myself. Mind you if I had the bank-roll there'd be quite a few things I'd like to do. laugh.gif

If I had enough money I would snap it up, then work on making it shabby looking, exactly as it was during the 80's when Mac was there!

If I have the money I will buy it!

I've been trying for the past few months (on and off) to contact the owners to ask about the sale. All attempts have failed.

The last entry I saw on their facebook page was that the sale was to be completed with final payment in 2 weeks time (from the time of the posting).

I see their facebook page and blogs have both been taken offline, so I can only assume that the sale was completed to an unknown buyer and the previous owners want nothing more to do with it.

It would be nice to know if the new owners are fans and where the home is now located, but it appears that's not to be.

Interesting. Wish there was a way we could contact them.if only we knew who they were.

Aren't there any Mac fans in B.C. who could do some spookin' around and locate the float home? Perhaps knock on the door and/or leave a note stating their interest in finding out more?
