So right off the bat this has me worried.

I'm having flashbacks to Knight Rider 2008 where they took a one-lead show and turned it into a team event... and we all know how that turned out!

I was thinking the same thing... I was actually excited about the Knight Rider reboot, until I saw the pilot and it was a snooze fest.

I liked how the original's main focus was on Mac, and even though Pete was a regular, he was more of a regular support character... and that worked because Pete was a character viewers can relate to, and he was Mac's best friend. The formula for this reboot seems rather predictable and typical... (aka boring).

I'm still reserving my opinion on the reboot until the pilot comes out though.

Meh...

I like both girls they are cute... but nervous about Mac working for the homeland security instead of DXS but maybe Lincoln is working for DXS... we will see.

It doesn't actually say anywhere that he is.

The show description says "clandestine organization from the original show."

?Waiting for that trailer. Never mind the reboot!

Then I can at least decide. I am so hoping we get what we kinda want. If its anything like Knight Rider 2008 or the unaired pilot of the Saint 2013, then I could end up sticking my head into a paper bag.

I never saw the knight rider reboot, one look at the car was enough for me honestly.

I liked the knight rider reboot it wasn't that bad...

Yeah I am curious if we will get any promo shots of Lucas Till as Mac or a trailer...

For me I am going to hold out hope that it will be awesome though my fear much like Batman V Superman I will love it and everyone else will hate it.

I think the release of a promo shot is likely IMO, since CBS knows MacGyver is such a beloved tb show with a huge fanbase, they'll want the fans to get to know the new younger version of the character and get used to him.

The possible advantage to having a slightly larger cast is that there will be more characters we can care about.
One problem the original show had is that we were often introduced to somebody who was supposedly one of Mac's "best friends," and yet we never saw them before at all. So when that person was in danger, it was kind of hard to get emotionally invested. A prime example of this was in "Trail To Doomsday." Mac was distraught at the beginning of the movie because his good friend (whose name I can't even recall) died, but it meant nothing to viewers because throughout seven seasons of the show, we'd never even heard of this guy before.
Same thing with all the ex-girlfriends. It was really hard to care when one of Mac's many ex-girlfriends betrayed him or whatever, because we never even knew they were involved with Mac until that moment.
If this new show has a bigger supporting cast, it gives the writers more to play with in a way that could be potentially more impactful on the audience.

Yeah in all honesty I think a show about a loner with new characters appearing every week would sink like a rock in today's television market, but on the flip side I think Team-MacGyver wont work either and would be compared to Scorpion.

Team-MacGyver?! Errghh!!! A shiver suddenly went down my spine.

But that is who Mac is. A one man team. Occasional sidekicks but he is the one man army.

Hmmm... Lead female role given to someone known for doing nude sex scenes in a program based around sex... Sounds like this MacGyver might not have the same wholesome goodness of it's predecessor.

....... totally different world in 2016. You've got 100,000,000 TMZ-esque, armchair critics sitting at their keypads just waiting for something to jump on. Back in 1985, the world had a (non-cyber) life!

I don't care who did what where. Traci Lords anyone? I think the biggest question remains if this new guy can be our MacGyver.

Absolutely!

Yeah, trust me, I'm skeptical about "Team MacGyver," too. But on the other hand, I think the episodes in the original series when Mac teamed up with Nikki or Jack or Pete, etc, were some of the best episodes.

Ultimately, whether or not it works will really comes down to the cast, and the chemistry they have together.

I envisage the song "Hey Mickey... Your so fine" on the way back also. Who's with me?

Perhaps if Wayne & Garth were joining in on the fun.
