Now you've got me wondering, what else can one use it for? hmm.bmp

1. The official use is as a package hook, to turn your knife into a handle that will help you to carry a parcel that is wrapped in string.

2. Similarly, you can use to carry heavy plastic bags. Normally when a plastic bag is heavy, the handles become thin and carrying it for a long distance will hurt your fingers since the plastic handle will dig into your fingers. You can use the hook to grab the heavy plastic bag.

3. On my compact I can use it to hold the pen when writing. It is much more comfortable to use that way. Refer to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g3-ZcggUzM.

4. As a fishing aid it is extremely useful. You can hook it through a fish's jaw and carry the fish like a strung parcel.

5. It can also be used for grabbing wire wrapped hay bales, so you don't cut into yourself.

6. You can also hook the bail of a cook pot to lift it on or off a camp fire.

7. Check also this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PP5hA7K4l8w as well wink.gif

8. Additionally, on my Compact knife it also has a nail file on its back. Refer to the image below (bottom hook).

It truly amazes me when people discover so many uses for a single tool on a SAK. It makes it that much more useful.

I will never see that hook the same way again!!!

Although I wouldn't recommend trying it, one could use the multipurpose hook as a handle on an improvised zip line to escape from some bad guys. surprise.gif

All of my SAKs are too old to have the hook, but my son has a Swisschamp and got a real kick out of this! An old friend of mine says they were used to cinch up laces on boots.

Here's a very another video that show a huge amount of uses for the hook. The truth is that once you start down this path you realize that this one tool can truly be a extension of your mind's will upon the physical world, and isn't that a huge part of what MacGuyvering is all about?

Your mind like your SAK works best when it's opened up.

Since my last post on this thread, I've picked up a few with the hook, and it's amazing what you can do! That video really opens the possibilities up!! thumbsup.gif
