Yes it was said - by Peter Lenkov during a round table discussion with Journalists. I reference it, in one of my earlier posts. See above.

I agree with Dash, these guys had little or no time to prep for this. And they came out of the trap - with not one, but two clips for the audience to watch. Both of which got a great reaction by the crowd.

I also think you are all a bit harsh with their behavior on the panel. You reading too much into things. Give them a break! It's not easy...believe me. I read an article about how that room was eerily quiet and the writer of the article spoke about how quickly the whole MacGyver panel won the crowd around and kept them all intrigued about the series. So I think it was a job well done overall on their part, let's not start picking whole that were clearly not there.

Doing these types of panels are the most awkward and uncomfortable things to do. Journalists aren't your friends, and they are out amongst the crowd, scrutinising everything you do and say. And the actors are probably told not to say anything that could give away anything about the show, and to mind their P's and Q's.

You may have noticed on more than one occasion Till looked to Lenkov to gauge how much information he could or should say on the project. They have to be extremely careful not to say the wrong thing, their jobs depend on it. So if you notice within all the interviews with Till and Eads, they are playing dumb and saying very little. As if they weren't told anything. This is a common trait, most actors play so as not to reveal anything and avoiding the difficult questions. I've interviewed many actors in my time. And to give you an example of what I mean, I interviewed Vince Vaughan awhile back when he was in Ireland promoting one of his upcoming films, upon asking him a question he quickly skewed off topic and told this longwinded anecdotal story about his mother - I came home that evening - and turned on two chat shows he appeared both on, and he told the same story verbatim. Same story three times, repeating a specific script to run down the time and avoid questions he can't answer, this is yet another way actors make sure to stay on topic and avoid giving anything way. Not too dissimilar to a politician lol

You know, I always knew that there were going to be changes with a reboot. And for many changes, I would have been ok with it (e.g. dropping the voice-overs although they were such an integral part of the first season). It's been 31 years since the original pilot and so much more is possible in film making now. But the First Look Teaser for the Unaired Pilot didn't catch the essence of the old show at all, so the frustration level and the not-acceptance of a reboot among fans was increasingly high.

Seeing now how many positive changes Lenkov and Wan have made for the reshoot, I'm really curious how bad the Unaired Pilot and its script must have been! It looks more and more like CBS was just trying to cash in quickly by ordering a script, then ordering another, better script by Colaizzo (who had an overall 2-year-contract for writing scripts for CBS - he wasn't hired for MacGyver exclusively and that was a huge mistake on CBS' part) and then just greenlighting the production instead of waiting another year to get someone on board that really understood the essence and the character of the original MacGyver and its appeal to fans.

I'm really glad they realized all that was wrong despite picking up the show. Even if we're not totally happy with the new pilot, it's so much better then what we could have gotten instead!

We'll probably never know what CBS' original script had in store for us and we need to remember that the only reason we now have this much better product is because the fans didn't just sit back and accept CBS' first offer like some suggested we should.

The fans voiced their disapproval so strongly that CBS took notice and realized that they had some serious fixing up to do and now as a result of the fans demanding a higher standard, we have what now feels like a really good new MacGyver show about to start.

This is a good example of how constructive criticism and high standards achieves better outcomes.

Me either; that was a real treat. I started very late looking for MacGyver Information online, and sometimes it's difficult to find new stuff...

well i remember that once i saw those clips in E! entertainment, but that was long time ago....

Regarding the event, since I couldn't attend I tried to watch and read as much as I can- from my perspective they on boarded the right producers but not sure about the role of the new Jack Dalton- seems he has experience in previous shows and there is chemistry between the cast - but there is something that well doesn't fit-- maybe I got to wait until a real episode but the Jack that I remember was totally different- but let's hope the best!

Just remembered that there's a good chance there will be a "Magnum" Panel at Comic Con this year. If Lenkov attends, there's a possibility of some interviews and him talking about MacGyver as well. At least I hope so; would be nice to hear something about Season 3 and what's in store for us.
