I was thinking about getting one. Does anyone have one or is that taking my macgyver addiction to far.

I love MacGyver too... but permanent body art should probably be given serious consideration.... for several years!

Not quite sure what would be a MacGyver tattoo. The name on your arm? A picture of a SAK on your ankle? A picture of RDA’s face splashed across your back?

Oh and to answer your question, no MacGyver tattoos for me, and yes, I think something as permanent as a tattoo is a bit barmy. Why don’t you just grow a mullet as homage to MacGyver instead?

Well many people get tattoos of things special or important to them, so that it's a permanent part of them and stuff like that. So I don't see a MacGyver tattoo as being any different really.

Although it does depend on what and where.

I don’t get the tattoo thing really. I am led to believe by my many patterned friend that reasons for tattoos aren’t just decorative and are, like Rocky says, to mark important events in their lives, to symbolise their beliefs and to honour their loved ones and family. I like her ideas on her tattoos and if I ever wanted to get a tattoo don’t think a favourite TV show would jump ahead of all those reasons. That’s me though; the next person will have a totally different idea on what would make a good tattoo. You're going to have to go with what you think.

Um, I guess a Swiss Army Knife or the MacGyver logo could be cool- but I don't really believe in tattoos in general. I don't have any and I've never had a desire to get any.
But hey dude- it's your body. If you want to have some permanent body art (well, outside of rather painful surgery permanent) then that's your choice.

When done well, tattoos can be quite beautiful. When done poorly, well better hope that it can be covered with clothing.

Tattoos are quite popular with young people and NBA players. Something that people need to consider when gettinga tattoo or a body piercing (other than in the ear) is how you plan to live your life in the future. Although quite acceptable in some parts of society, tattoos and piercings are much less so in professional settings.

Many people I know who have tattoos regret getting them in places where they can't be hidden under clothing in a business setting. Some businesses are still very conservative and will not hire people who have tattoos that are visible.

I personally don't have one, although I have considered it in the past. Given that I HATE needles, my tattoos tensd toward the temporary (henna) rather than permanent (ink injected under the skin).

Would I have a MacGyver tattoo? Probably not. If I am going to permanently alter my skin, it would have to be an expression that is deeply significant and emotionally important to me.

I'd consider that. I used to want a tat pretty badly, but it took me years to decide on what I would get. (As it should be, I think.) I finally settled on a Star Wars Rebel Alliance insignia. I didn't get it, but I did decide what I would get if I ever get ink.

Now, this isn't just because of my love for Star Wars. For me, it represents a simpler time and a lot of great memories. I don't think I'll every actually get a tat, but if I do, it's on the table still. However, the Stargate symbol has come to mean even more to me (shocking for those who know me). It isn't just about a TV show. I have met friends through SG. I have rediscovered that I love to write. SG, while only a show, and not my real life by any stretch, has brought me countless joys. I have deepened friendships I already had, made new ones, brought my husband into the sci-fi fandom ranks, and quite simply made my days brighter.

So, the symbol of the Tau'ri would be on the table, too.

Now, off to watch more Firefly with hubby!!! (Just discovered that show...it rocks so hard it isn't even funny!!!)

I love Firefly. Too bad it only ran one season. Make sure you get the movie Serenity, it kinda wraps up the loose ends.

I've pondered getting a tattoo off and on for years . . . my big problem is that tattoos start out lovely and crisp and bright, and fade over time. And the body changes also. If I'm going to carry an image for the rest of my life, I'd better accept, at the outset, how it will look farther down the road.

I haven't given up on getting a tattoo; and if I do, it would have to be something that I know will remain important. And I wear jewelry that has the important symbols and images that signify for me, and I wear it all day, every day.

Much as I love MacGyver, I prefer to carry a real SAK instead of having one tattooed on. After all, I can't use a tattoo the way I can use my SAK!

Done and done. I was renting Firefly from Netflix, but got impatient and went out and bought it. So, watching now. Will watch Serenity once done with series.

See...I've just been putting it off. Many people whose sci-fi opinions I respect like Firefly, so...it was only a matter of time. Finally got to it, and yeah...it's like the day I went to my first Star Trek con...yeah, it's like that.

Okay- so though I don't believe in getting tattoos, I was pondering what a MacGyver one would be like- and I was thinking someone could get a Swiss Army Knife on their arm- and then whenever they flex their biceps the different blades would pop out!

(LOL- Ha- It just reminded me of some of those Popeye gags- those were always great)

These are some great ideas, I think if I do get one it will be the actual Macgyver logo.

Yeah I can see it. It looks okay but if I am honest I don't really like it. I can't even work out which limb it was tattooed on. It looks like its layered, somehow.

It's neat. You're lucky you can tolerate the red -- I found out the hard way red ink can have nickel in it. Go figure. Did you have it done in all one sitting or did it take multiple ones?

Yes it was all one sitting. It's on my calf. And I don't know who the black and gray one is on but that thing looks more like Patrick Swayze.
