CBS have cancelled their own Blu-ray plans about half a year ago due to low sales. (Or well, there were no actual definite plans beyond season one, they just won't be moving forward with it.)
We're currently duct taping a little something special here in Germany, though, that international fans will most likely be able to profit from, too. I'm not free to discuss any details before the official announcement, but Mac fans can look forward to sometime in 2020.

CBS themselves. We got this rolling after a user of my German Mac boards had written in to CBS Germany and got the reply that no further releases were planned. So I got together with friends from a German studio to see what could be done about it.
When they're licensing out a property to another studio, there's an internal feedback round with their official international branches first to see if any of them is interested in doing the property themselves (in which case it wouldn't be licensed out). This wasn't the case for MacGyver, so the license was available.
While our product will be for the German market, CBS have the right to use our disc masters for their own US product later on, too, if that's what they decide to do.
Apart from that, as mentioned, I can't go into any details for now since this won't be released before next summer or fall at the earliest here in Germany (and who knows when and if in the US), but what I can guarantee you is that we'll do our best to give you the very best Mac experience ever (including hopefully bonus materials if available through the licensor and I'm currently writing an extensive booklet about the show's history).
I'll have more info for you guys as soon as I can, stay tuned.
We will indeed include the tv movies. However, CBS didn't remaster them (only the seven main seasons) and has no plans to, so it will only be the SD version for those.

I was just wondering what happened to the Bluray deal. Stupid CBS.....
"Walk in love. Walk in service. And you will walk in honor." (Good Knight MacGyver) "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." - Albert Einstein "What are ferrets made of? Happiness."
I think one of the main problems was their decision to go with single seasons (at a pretty high price, too, at least in the US), which for most potential buyers is a dealbreaker nowadays when it's such an old show that has already ended. If you go this way, you'll always have some fans that'll buy it right away, but also LOTS of potential customers that will either wait for all seasons to be released because they aren't sure if it won't be cancelled after one or two boxes or that don't want to pay that amount of money and will wait for a cheaper full-series set.
Considering the fact that TV on BD is becoming more and more extinct anyway, that probably wasn't the smartest choice. Especially if you go the all barebones way with no extras or anything.
As a matter of fact, I originally never expected them to do Blu-rays anyway. I first checked in with my friends about this one and a half years ago when the remaster was first announced because I saw no chance that there would be any CBS BDs. So they checked but the license wasn't available at that time because CBS in fact wanted to do the BDs themselves. Fast forward to one year later when they did do them ... and ... uh ... "surprisingly" realized it's not worth it for them.

CBS hasn't made any smart decisions regarding MacGyver, tbh

CBS is like any other company... they're in it for the money and not much else.
I would love to see Season 3 & 4 in particular in HD. That would be nice... =P *cough*CBS*cough*

It's so annoying for them to withhold the HD versions - at least sell them digitally! Hell I would buy season 1 again digitally in HD to avoid having to put in discs.

Too much work to take the case of the shelff, open it up, take out the disc, put it in the player and press play?
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

I think one of the main problems with this BD no local store sell this BD like Walmart, Target, Best Buy. You can only buy it online and not in the store. The people not on social media will not know about to buy it.
