Years after battling Arnold, Aliens and Danny Glover, there’s a new Predator movie in the works. If you weren’t aware, that’s because very little has been made official about it outside of a few insider quotes. Then today, a new image popped up on Facebook which seems to be teasing some kind of announcement... and a title.

The Facebook image is captioned with the phrase, “Here we go again, bro,” which is a play on a line of dialogue from the original, 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film directed by John McTiernan.

The new film is co-written by Shane Black and Fred Dekkar, who have a pretty good track record. In addition to being one of the supporting actors in the first Predator film, Black also worked a bit on that script. Plus he wrote Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout and more recently, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. And of course, he directed Iron Man 3. Dekkar is best known for directing Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad, the latter of which he wrote with—you guessed it—Shane Black.

Still early for that one. The script is being written as we speak but I'm glad things are on the way for the fourth movie. I saw the third one at the movies which was a surprisingly solid movie. It really honored the original with plenty of nods. I hope Shane Black goes old school simply because of Lethal Weapon and the Last Boy Scout and Predator of course. I'll be patient for this one though. I was also mostly in favor of Predator than the Alien.

On the contrary, it appears that the movie is moving faster than expected. But under wraps.

Black as well as a few others including Arnie have mentioned that the sequels veered off direction. Black claims to reinvent the franchise but not reboot the fourth one.

The teaser poster has a few clues. So far the title, the tag line and the predator behind it.

Well Arnie is in talks with Black to reprise his role in the upcoming movie.

Further to that, under Arnie's Wikipedia page, they have his next movie listed as The Predator for 2018!

No confirmation but it sounds promising!

Nothing on his imdb yet. That just says a sequel to Twins, Conan and a movie called 478. The last one is already in post-production.

Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’ Targets Olivia Munn, Will Head Into the Suburbs



The Predator is targeting another star from the X-Men universe. Olivia Munn, has just boarded Shane Black‘s reboot-quel, joining Logan villain Boyd Holbrook. And along with the casting news comes a few new plot details about the mysterious movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news of the Olivia Munn Predator casting, The Predator “plunks the alien hunter — whom audiences have seen fight in jungles, concrete jungles, frozen wastelands and alien planets — in the harsh environment of … suburbia.” Holbrook has been set to play a Special Forces commando, while Munn will step into the role of a scientist.

Holbrook won the Predator gig a few weeks ago after Benicio del Toro, who’d originally been attached to star, dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. While Holbrook certainly seems to be on his way up, he’s nowhere near as big a name as del Toro, so the plan now is to surround him with a strong supporting cast. Munn is fairly well known at this point and should be able to lend a bit of star power to the production.

Although concrete details remain sparse, Black, who is co-writing The Predator with Fred Dekker as well as directing, has spoken in general terms about what he wants his film to be. “I think the Predator movies have slightly veered from typical sci-fi in that there is a sort of thriller aspect to them,” he said recently. “I think it should be scary, I think it should be funny, and I think ultimately it should be wondrous and about perceiving things that human beings very seldom get a chance to see.”

The Predator sorta-kinda functions as a reboot, in that it’s intended to resurrect a long-dormant franchise with new characters and new storylines. But it’s also a sequel, as Black is eager to point out. “I think it has to stand on its own two feet, but our goal is to make sure it acknowledges that, yeah, it is 30 years later in the continuity of the story,” he said. “In other words, Dutch Schaefer’s patrol, which was attacked and largely slaughtered, happened 30 years ago in the context of the story. It’s referenced, it’s part of the mythology.”

Shooting on The Predator is expected to get underway in February for release on February 9, 2018.

Still no word whether Schwarzenegger will make an appearance.

Thought I missed it. The movie will be released in August in Belgium. That's another four months.

Actually forgot to update the thread, sorry. Standard release date for this is September 14. You're lucky if you're getting to see it in August.

The date might always be changed. The cinema website said I think August 1. Strange, that would be like Belgium will get the movie before it's released in the US. Then again, there was only a date not a poster of the movie to be seen. It might still change.

Possible. When Titanic was released, it premiered first in South Africa, at least a week before the US. There are many others so its not unusual for other countries to host premiere dates before.

I always thought that Dutch and Anna returned to the US and disappeared into suburbia somewhere.

In an early draft of Predator 2 Dutch was supposed to go to New York and suffers from amnesia, but Arnie wasn't interested in sequels at the time. So they changed the setting from NY to L.A. and came up with the Danny Glover character.

The movie looks good though.
