I have a watched a few episodes and it just feels the same as any action tv show these days... Fun but missing the heart of the original.

This Reboot is missing something so far that is very important. In the original Macgyver was a role model to many people. I think he was perhaps one of the greatest male role models of TV...

This new series does not have that. That I have seen..

Does any of the later episodes have any of that or is it all CSI, mission impossible type stuff?

I enjoyed the episodes I saw so far as entertainment (except for the music) but it is lacking that one special element that made it into the show that has actually improved a generation that watched it.

There were people that watched the old series who didn't have a father figure and looked up to Macgyver. No one will look up to the new Macgyver and that is the saddest part of the reboot.

You're right. This MacGyver isn't relatable to the audience at all really.

The magic of the original was that he was an every day guy that we could all relate to. He did every day things, had everyday fears and problems but had a unique and simple way of solving them.

This new MacGyver has none of that. He goes of top secret missions for a top secret government organisation and makes really complex and technical MacGyverisms that no-one can understand... AND... we still really no nothing about the guy.. what's he like to do in his down time? How's he feel about environmental issues? Does he like sports? (i'm guessing no on that one because he's been made out to be the awkward nerdy kid that got picked on in school.

Anyone who's been picked on or bullied for being different can relate. Anyone with unresolved family issues too. Also he's too young to be a father figure. I think this is more of an origins series.

I think that was probably the intention at first but has since evolved into its own series. I gave the first season a go but lost interest. Despite the show bringing back popularity on the title character, there is little the reboot offers that comprises of the essence of the original. Even though the character goes bythe name of MacGyver, it does not have anything to do with the 80's show.
