Lol, just kidding. That is funny, though.

Okay- so does that mean Richard Dean Anderson is going to be playing a Halo 3 tournament or something- or probably just be on hand for a ceremony celebrating the release of the game?
Hmm- well, I'd definitely choose MacGyver to side with in Halo. Hey, maybe what the article meant is they're making a MacGyver character for the Halo 3 game! That'd be cool!

I heard about this a few days ago. Halo fans are do-it-yourselfers... so maybe that's the draw. Maybe he voiced, although you'd think we'd heard about it before. Gotta wonder...

That would be awesome! All he would be armed with is his SAK, and you send him in, he builds a bomb, and BANG, you win.

Although I'm not much of a gamer, that sounds pretty cool.

After Tuesday, we'll all know. They're opening everywhere! Locally here, in Orlando, Tampa... I'm not a gamer ('though if Stargate Alliance had been finished, I would have played that) But I live with two avid gamers + friends. Come Sunday, I make myself scarce... that's "gameday".

My son is SO bummed. His fender-bender took precedence over a new X-Box... and the game can't be played on his current one. *pats son on the head*

I've seen (many) promos of the game, and if he voiced, I can't hear it, but that doesn't mean much. I didn't recognize him in The Simpsons until listening for a while. I recognized his WAY of speaking, and his singular wit before the voice.

Well, I found out WHY he's in Dublin for the launch of Halo 3.

MacGyver comes to Dublin

Richard Dean Anderson, better known for playing the eponymous role in MacGyver, will officially launch the Xbox 360 game Halo 3 in Dublin on Tuesday night. MacGyver was recently named the fictional hero Americans most want by their side in the event of a disaster, beating off the likes of Jack Bauer and Indiana Jones. Over the course of the 80s TV series MacGyver managed to plug an acid leak with chocolate, blow open doors with bombs made of chewing gum and patch a hot-air balloon using duct tape and a map. It was these qualities and the character's similarities to Master Chief, the lead character in Halo 3, which made Microsoft choose Anderson to launch the hotly anticipated game. "Both are ordinary individuals who, despite insurmountable odds, have stepped up to the challenge to come out of extraordinary situations," said Orla Sheridan, Country Manager, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Ireland.

And I'm a big fan of Master Chief, and no wonder... he reminds me of Mac!

A few other familiar actors voice Halo also, like Robert Davi, and Ron Perlman.

Just in case anyone here actually plays Halo (I don't -- the closest I ever came to that kind of computer game was making costumes for Riven):

From the local word, the scenery in the new Halo is going to have a really familiar look for MacGyver and Stargate fans; the designers based a lot of the wilderness details on the Pacific Northwest forests. Most of them had to relocate to the Puget Sound area when Microsoft bought the design company.

So folks will see, well, trees and moss -- and ferns and undergrowth and rain forest vegetation, all eerily familiar if you've been watching location shots from British Columbia. Apparently, the role of "Kilimanjaro" is more or less played by Mount Rainier.

Hi Guys,
I live in Dublin and went to the launch of halo but RDA didn't show, I saw him on a t.v interview though and a few friends nearly had a heart attack when they saw RDA walking through the streets of Dublin, he's still in Dublin as i write.

Hmmm... Maybe he was there to promote the opening rather than actually doing the opening.

Seems a little screwy though
