So, I post the Virtual Season on other fiction sites besides our own dedicated one and here, and while I was just doing so today, I noticed some "MacGyver 2016" fic. Curious, I took a look at it, and guess what?

It's all about Jack Dalton and Mac seems a secondary character - so it would seem even the fan fiction is following the style of the new show.

That's the liberty you have with fanfiction. I'm sure there's more fanfiction out there that has MacGyver as a secondary character.

I haven't read any; but I saw that MacGyver 2016 FanFiction had been posted already a day after the premiere and had to laugh a bit.

It's a good thing I didn't know about FFs until I was already finished with college and university; otherwise I wouldn't have gotten anything done

They're not taking liberties though, that was my point - they're following the new format - Jack does get more attention by the writers over Mac half the time in it.

Here comes the underage Mary Sue M-rated crap that I despise.... I'm staying far, far away...

There's probably some fan fiction out there which focuses on Penny Parker. Maybe she has some kind of relationship with one of the female employees of the Phoenix Foundation. That's the point about fan fiction. People can pick and choose which characters they like best and make all sorts of things happen and they don't have to please anyone else.

That said, I personally couldn't imagine writing fan fiction that wasn't based around . Unless it was for a totally different programme, and even then there might be some kind of crossover.
