Hmm...I don't see Tiberius Kovacs listed here, so I'm still guessing it's a floor/hydraulic jack, but then again, they didn't get Desi's brother's name right in the last press release either.

Until it sinks in for this forum....lol

I think it was a good episode. I knew the storyline would be a chance for Tristin to shine. Death is something for the crew to rally around.

Why I'm glad it wasn't a cry-fest the entire episode, it was weird to not see more emotion from Matty and Bozer.

Desi's story how they met was sorta wrong, though. She said he took her in when sha was still basically a rookie and treating her with respect. Yet she didn't do the same when she took over for Jack; belittling them right from the start tongue.gif

Someone pointed out that the prop departement got the dog tags wrong: https://twitter.com/kellnire/status/1350543510903074818

I first thought they re-used the old tags of Jack's dad, but no. The number isn't the same as in 2x07. They made new ones, but got the name wrong.

It should be Jack W. Dalton, not Jack S. Dalton.

Generally, it was a nice send-off for a TV character. I've seen a lot worse on other shows tongue.gif

Additional SPOILER ALERT!

Not 100% happy though. It was nice to get all these little memory bits to reminisce and the "old" found family feel from former seasons. Of all the writers, I think Jim Adler was the best to get it right and he did. Also, the cast (especially Lucas and Tristin) were great.

Yes, Jack couldn't be after Kovac forever. But they mentioned Jack like twice since he left, so why bother now? Were they just tired of fans asking about him?

Also, Mac just can't get a break. Since 3x22, he lost Charlie, his dad, his aunt, and now Jack. All within 19 episodes, so less than a season. Are they going to do something with this or just brush over it? Any other agent would have been pulled out of the field already and been sent to extensive therapy sessions laugh.gif

I don't get why they're killing off all potentially recurring characters lately. TV world changes a lot; it doesn't hurt to keep the door open for a character to come back; even if it's several seasons later.

They could have at least left a little plot twist at the end (e.g., another postcard showing up, Mac realizing the coffin is empty)? Yes, George probably never wanted to come back yet they didn't have to kill him off. they didn't kill off other regulars who left (Thornton, Cage, Leanna)... they killed off characters on-screen (Helman, Ramon) and they still came back.

I kinda got the sense the quiet on here about the episode or Jack being gone so long didn't mean things were "over" on here lol. I knew Jack still held alot of places in people's heart (evident by all the tributes on IG) so I knew this might bring up old wounds so to speak.

I'm not gonna say I miss him or anything, because he's known for just leaving cold turkey on CBS shows.

Therefore I'm not gonna critic a performance that was not there, I'm gonna do that for ones that were there.

Late to the party and welp, it looks like they did it, so here we go!

-Mac and Desi in full ceremonial military garb...yep, yep, it's happening.

-Ernest "The Cat" Miller as "Walker." Haha, this guy was great in late 90s/early 2000s WCW. Even had short run in the WWF/E. Lately he's gotten into the acting game with his most famous turn in, appropriately, "The Wrestler." Great to see him pop up here.

-Kovac is dead. Guess that's why he wasn't in the credits.

-"Until then, there's beer." Ain't that the truth.

-FWIW, Skee Ball is very therapeutic.

-Eating greasy pizza? Yeah, I'd probably wash my hands 10 times myself before getting into a Yugo, let alone a GTO.

-Ozzy Ulrich. Naturally Jack would have a name that's a portmanteau of Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

-Mac's address is 2312 Lawler Street in L.A. Is that the first time we've seen that? There is a Lawler Street in L.A., but it runs about two blocks and is definitely not up in the hills. biggrin.gif

-"Jack loved the strudel." Hadn't realized strudel was a thing outside the Germanic-speaking world, but now I do. This show is nothing if not educational...and not just in science. laugh.gif

-Another explanation on Cairo. Stuck in a musty old sarcophagus for six hours sounds like my personal version of Hell.

-At first glance I thought that was a picture of Jack in the safe, which would have been hilarious...and weird.

-He's been on-screen for 30 seconds, but I can already say this was great casting for the character of Tibor.

-Where did Mac get this endless supply of ball-bearings? He had like two little yellow pans. hmm.bmp

-The "ace in his hole." roller.gif

-Kovac isn't a real person. That really explains why he wasn't in the credits!

-Serious gymnastics background on this sniper.

-Kovac/Vitez is right. Team MacGyver is too damn curious...but that's also why they always get their man (or woman).

-I sense a classic trope right here: villain talks too much, over-explaining their plan and probably incriminating themselves.

-Nice tribute to the "Cowboy" with the lasso disarming of the bad guy (girl).

-Yup. Classic Riley "handful of keystrokes deus ex machina."

-LOL. Pouring some out for their homie. Or trying to anyway.

-Ahhhh. Almost got through an entire episode without reference to Mac and Desi's relationship. So close.

I had/have some mixed feelings about the whole killing off Jack thing, but I was also pretty sure that George Eads had little desire to ever reprise the role. So I guess, whatevs. For a post-mortem Jack tribute this was about as well as you could have done an RIP Jack episode, a good blend of silliness, butt-kicking and genuine emotion. The episode in-and-of-itself is actually really strong, well-written, directed and acted on everyone's part (Tristin!) including the guests. This show is often flawed in the sense of what it could and perhaps should be, but sometimes they do do a pretty good job of making you care and even satisfied. This was one of those times.

I agree. Neither got a ton of screen time (at least in reminiscing scenes), but Matty, in particular, came off incredibly non-plussed by it all given her personal history with Dalton.

To be honest, I'm not sure Lenkov's original intent was to ever really bring him back or even tie up the loose-ends of the Kovac mission. It seems he may have conceded to the latter to perhaps quell all the "where's Jack" or "bring back Jack" queries.

It'll be interesting to see if they deal with it (and to say nothing of his toxic relationship... whistle.gif ), perhaps the emotional breakdown in the airplane bathroom (hey, who hasn't had one seven miles up) is the start of something more? I have my doubts.

Part of me is actually glad there was no twist (at least yet)...although you do wonder if Lenkov's ouster has re-opened the door for some former recurring regulars to actually be open to coming back for a guest spot. I'd love to see loose ends tied up with Nikki and Thornton (heck, even Cage), it would certainly bring some needed depth and perhaps real closure to a few storylines. dry.gif

So, who was the guy in the photo that Jack had on his phone in S3?

Jack said he shot him and the guy was dead. So did he shoot the innocent model of a stock photo? blink.gif

I did wonder a bit why they had cast someone with similar looks to George; acting with similar traits as Jack hmm.bmp

I woudn't mind seeing Tibor again in another episode. He was funny.

Is it me or are people being a lil disingenuous? Nobody cared about Jack or George Eads since a lil after he left....now all these "tributes" are turning up like rollers

Pfft, where have you been? People haven't stopped talking about missing Jack since Eads' departure. Although some people gave up after it became clear he wasn't coming back.

If anything, people just gave up/moved on, but are still sad that he's now been killed off, hence the tributes

In Episode 1x06, Jack said that Riley would get his Shelby Mustang if anything happened to him.

Guess the Shelby wasn't available for filming tongue.gif

(and I don't think we've seen it since Episode 3x02?)

And there were still a few "bring back Jack" tweets last night...lol. I mean they would have if the actor wanted to...I don't think that was the case.

Also, #MacGyver Twitter deep-dives are eye-opening...and a bit scary. surprise.gif

When did the GTO come into the picture?

Maybe the Shelby was "used" cell phone-style by MacGyver to get them out of an offscreen predicament? laugh.gif

I knew I've seen the t-shirt before: https://twitter.com/MacRileyEdits/status/1353151094264913921

Apparently, Jack wore it in Episode 1x18.
