I've just gotten home from seeing a Pro Wrestling show live.

It was pretty awesome too! I was right up the front 3 feet away from the ring. Even had a wrestler thrown against me at one stage I was expecting it to be a bunch of wannabes trying to be like the WWE, but these guys were really good.

Those guys get paid to play fight, how kewl is that. Although I have to say, it's not as fake as people think. You can't fake jumping 10 feet in the air and slamming onto the ground, but obviously it's also not as dangerous as it looks either, otherwise they'd only do it once.

Was good too because the wrestlers all hung around after the final show to talk to people and sign autographs and stuff.

My ex, or nowadays-best-friend, or my future back-to-boyfriend-again, is a semi-pro wrestler as well.
He's been a Dutch light weight champion for 2 years.
In fact he's doing a live show again tonight.

Btw, all the moves are set up beforehand, but the injuries are FOR REAL!

Dad is a pro wrestling fan. He gets really excited about it and gets angry when his favorite wrestlers are losing or do something wrong. Mom is all the time telling him that it's all a show, but dad won't listen to her

One of the really interesting things was hanging around after the show when the wrestlers were signing autographs and watching how they dropped right out of character. most of them weren't even in costume any more.

One of the 2 women wrestlers that where there was trying to convince a bunch of kids that she wasn't really an evil baddy, that was just her job to make everyone hate her while the show was on. I thought to myself, "my how this industry has changed" Once upon a time wrestlers stayed in character whenever they were in public, but not any more. They were quite happy to talk about the "characters" and acting aspect of the shows and even talking about switching from good to bad (and vice versa) roles.

One of them even said to me to hang around for another 10 minutes and you'll see them pull the ring apart and see how it all works. No secrets in Pro wrestling anymore.
