I'm done with season 7 and now I find myself scratching my head. I have a clear memory of a Mac scene, but the ep isn't in season 7 and I don't recall seeing it in the other seasons. I still went back and read episode summaries for the other seasons but I still can't find and ep that would fit this scene. I think that either the scene is an insignificant moment in an ep, or that I so loathed the ep I forgot about it, or that it's actually from another show, or that I just imagined it!

The scene has Mac infiltrating a gang, being handed a gun, being told to kill one of the other gang members, and then he replies something along the lines of "Only a fool orders the death of one of his own men."

Help? I am so embarrassed.

Edit - Beaten by Loth by a measly minute! I thought I was going to get in there first. I wanted to show off my new powers that comes from watching all MacGyver's ever made. I would sulk if I wasn't still chuffed that I have now got season 7!!!!

For instance, there's the Mac episode where he comes over to my apartment with a jug of apple cider and we sit on the floor and play scrabble all night.... or was that a dream I had??

AH! I haven't seen that one in its entirety because the power went out the night it aired! I want this movie RIGHT NOW!!!

That episode sounds familiar but I think you have some of the details wrong. For a start, the way i remember it MacGyver was visiting my house in Scotland and was no where near your apartment.

So do I! I have them on VHS taped from the TV but they are starting to go wibbly.

Nonononono.... you're confused! The episode when Mac shows up at your place in Scotland (or was that Caledonian?) he's actually looking for Kansas, but took a wrong turn at Albuquerque!

And he not only trains the gun onto the guy that is lying at the bottom but after saying these lines he shoots a whole round over to the leader of the gang who has to duck for not being hit.

There goes your thinking about Mac would never use a gun and if, then with disgust shown. Certainly looked not disgusted to me.

Seemed very unlike-Mac to me. And he has to be an excellent shooter for being able to shoot that near to the target and not hit it accidentally.

Okay, now I really want this movie on DVD. There I was, thinking that the only Mac I'd never seen was Mountain of Youth.

He had to make it look good, if he wanted to infiltrate the terrorist gang.

I think that Mac has a pretty good background on guns. He can field-strip a machine gun pretty easily, and he does know how to use them. He doesn't seem to mind firing them by remote, judging by all the traps and tricks he's used them in, (like rigging them in a tree as a diversion)

I think Mac's biggest distaste is for handguns. There is no other purpose for a hand gun (or a machine gun, for that matter) than to shoot people.



But I'm wandering from the topic, I guess! I'll just get off my soapbox...

Well, I think what bothers me - it's just the way they did it. He trained the gun, then fade out, obviously commercial, fade in and he still trained.

So who they wanted to fool? I certainly was not biting my nails thinking whether or not he would shoot the guy since I knew he would not. He's not Jack Bauer who easily kills a guy just for "making it looking good".

As long as we're discussing 'Trail to Doomsday', I guess we're not off-topic. I felt that I was wavering on the gun issue, but that is THE ISSUE, isn't it?

I know what you mean. Seeing Mac holding a gun, being grim, pointing at another person... it is completely out of character for our Mac! Remember DOA MacGyver? When he pointed the gun at Pete? My hair nearly turned white with shock!

You and I, we know that Mac would never... but the bad guys had to believe it, and Mac was being pushed pretty hard in this story, with the savage deaths of his friend and his daughter.

These WERE the men who killed Paul and kidnapped and apparently murdered Elyse (sp?)... I'm thinking that Mac probably didn't shed any tears for making Joseph wet himself by firing that Uzi over his head!

Yeah, the director was trying to make us wonder for a while if Mac would actually shoot someone. You and I... we know better!

If I knew more about MacGyver when I first saw Trail to Doomsday, that scene sure would've turned up the heat for me back then.

He knows how they work, that's one of the reasons why he hates them. MacGyver aimed at Joseph with a stretched arm and then shot. If Joseph didn't bend over to lean on the railing, he was dead.

BBC ***ed that scene up with skipping the fade out.

No one, it's all a matter of suspense, the same thing goes for Jack Bauer. Difference is... Jack does shoot and he doesn't miss.

That was a complete different scenario, since he had lost his memories and for a moment I really thought he was going to shoot. There I held my breath!

Just imagine what would have happened if Joseph ducked the wrong way and was accidentally hit.

The other five would have been over MacGyver in a heartbeat. You are not making a good infiltrating gang member when you are dead, are you?

I'd say: 'He shouldn't have done that!' and if the other members would come over, I've got the uzi.

He's the one with the Uzi remember. But of course he won't shoot. He probably will get the hell out of there in a heartbeat.

Everybody knows he won't.

Oh yeah! I remember that scene very well from watching "Trail to Doomsday" when it first aired! Wow- I remember wondering what MacGyver would do- and I loved his response. Boy I really hope these movies get released soon (or at all ) so I can see that again! I think I'm straining my brain trying to remember from when I saw it, what? 10 or more years ago??? And that's about the only thing I do remember from it!
